Amazing food! The Starlake noodles are highly recommended and some of the best I've had in a NZ Thai restaurant. Worth a visit!

Told me I could pay with my room key. Took my phone number and then told me after I had ordered my food and waited for it, that it was an old deal and I would have to pay for it myself. Waste of 30 mins.

A very! Disappointing red chicken curry.lacked flavour/spice and vege not worth mentioning. Won't bother again especially when rice is $5 on top! Will stick with Thai Silk in Hastings.

Eaten in the restaurant and really enjoyed it so decided to give takeaway a go. Was very disappointed in the take away food. Lemon chicken, peanut stir fry and pad thai. Very little greens in it and it suffers because of it.

Excellent sizzling duck, the veges are crisp. Fresh perfection! Very warm pleasant service, altho we were late diners after the movies. Consistantly good hospitality & food.

Tasty Kai slight difference in flavour I'm use to but I assume that's because you get different taste of Thai food from people of each region of Thailand very delish and quick service

First time here and loved it. Lovely friendly staff with perfect customer service skills. Great menu with lots of delicious options - couldn't fault anything on this visit. Definitely a place to go if you want somewhere new to have dinner.

Amazing happy smiley staff even on the busy night. Green curry was not spicy enough for us so asked if any hot chill sauce for topping and bring it without any hesitation. Happy smile till the end at cashier. Felt so satisfied.

Spent about $70 just to find out they didnt have the cripsy pork i rang up and asked for prior before ordering online. Very disappointing!

also the squid wasnt crunchy! It was gross! A soggy mess with the coating falling off, the only thing that was pleasant was the roti bread.

Staff was very racist. Name on the receipt is Amy, I asked for a bag which i was happy to pay for and when it came time to collecting my food from the takeaway part the gentleman in front of me who brought a bag and didnt need one got one for free and when I got my food they gave it without a bag despite the fact I was walking home. I asked for a bag politely and they just moved onto the next customer and where to busy to care so I left.

The food was also average at best and priced very high for its quality as the sauce was really watery. Dont think I would ever come back.

Usually pretty good, this time I ordered fried rice via delivery easy and it was disappointing. The rice wasnt even cooked. Felt like I was eating rocks instead not rice. Very disappointed.

I'll start and finish on a positive note; most of the staff are very friendly and mostly Thai giving Starlake an air of authenticity. We have been here five times in the last eight months, dining in on three occasions, takeaway twice. To be frank, the Takeaway option is more preferable and therefore our recommendation because if you phone your order in, you time the pick up for when it's ready and you're away back home to enjoy what is undeniably fantastic food, no waiting, no frustration, no ear-pod boy!

Yes, the (I think) Chinese guy who always seems to work the bar and has absolutely no interaction or communication with customers, wears ear-pods all the time which is a terrible look and in my books, an absolute no no in Hospitality! It basically declares that. 'I am not here for you, don't approach me, don't talk to me, don't hassle me'. Which makes you wonder why he's in Hospitality in the first place - the ear-pods need to go!

On two out of our three dining in experiences we have had to wait for unacceptably long periods before being served initially and then again before actually receiving our meals which haven't come out at the same time but have been staggered over a 5 - 10 minute period (not a guess, we timed it). Last night - Sunday 3rd January 2021 - our booking was for nine people at 7pm but our table wasn't ready so we had to wait outside for 15-minutes with my mother on crutches having recently broken her hip. Once seated it took 17-minutes before we were approached and asked if we were ready to order only for the waitress to realise we hadn't been given menus yet. Once we had those it took another 12-minutes to see if we were ready to order only for her to realise she hadn't given us a drinks list so she went and got three of those and gave us time to look at them.

Anyway, it was a 7pm booking, we received our first meals at 8: 47pm the last one came out at 9: 03pm so although we had plenty of time to chat and have a few drinks and the place and staff are lovely, the service and waiting time really do need to be addressed to make this restaurant worthy of five stars. It was exactly like this with ear-pod boy ignoring everyone and food taking a long time when we dined in in May 2020.

Why do we keep coming back? At the end of the day, the food is really good!

Amazing food, really fast service for a Thursday night (came in at around 5: 15 last week) apart from one staff member that wasn't very friendly, was a bit rude and just put my food on the counter and stared at me.maybe she was having a bad day.

Possibly a tiny bit more expensive than other Thai places in the area, but the food is soo good at StarLake I drive past three other Thai restaurants and always end up there.

Had a delicious green curry chicken, vegetable fried rice and seafood boat. Fresh, well cooked and most importantly as spicy as we liked.

The takeaway section was manic suggesting a great Thai takeaway but tonight it was certainly not.

Had the chicken skewers to start. 4 skewers, one mouth full each $12 for four mouthfuls didn’t seem right? The flavour in the sauce was good though which partially won me back.

Then had chicken Pad Thai. I think they ran out of very little chicken and lots of Tofu.

We won’t be going back.

They decided to close earlier that day and rushed us through our dinner. The Pad Thai wasn’t good, perhaps because the tried to cook it faster than normal.

Good service and good food.we were a large group of 14 and the meal timing was fine, not too long a wait on a busy Sat night. Only downer was the spare chairs stacked in the ladies toilet cubicle (yes, really). And a cleaning device stored in hall of toilet. Perhaps move them somewhere else during opening hours, and not using the toilet as storage space, is my suggestion.
