Tarawera Cafe reviews
59Very friendly, good coffee although we didn't have any food it looked tasty. Very clean premises.
Simply awful! Undrinkable small black coffee $5.65 +gst + holiday surcharge. Should have been the best coffee I ever had.
Checking out receipt they have charged 30% on top of every price displayed. I raised this with the two owners (the only two working the public holiday) and they blamed “the Chinese girls that set the till up”. Then wanted to argue they can’t show the less gst prices.
If you have the misfortune to stop here, double check what you are paying.
Twenty in our motorcycle group turned up and they were happy to see us.all smiles!
I had a nice and cheese pie - tasty, followed by a Rhubarb tart - delicious! Call in, they'jj make you welcome.
I have to say that this place is the cleanest cafe I've been to in the north island. Highly recommend the date scenes and stuffed sausages
Very limited cabinet food.
No savoury GF options, only sweet.
Paper cups, paper plates, plastic knives and forks.
Was very clean
Very friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere and amazing coffee.
Well worth visiting the Tarawera cafe, as there food is amazing as well.
This place is up for sale, so no menu just cabinet food, pies, sausage rolls sandwiches etc.the lady who served us was lovely, but the place needs a little TLC.
Interesting place, even has a Heli pad. Great hosts that have operated the cafe for 13 years. Nice pies and great hot, hot chip's.
Stopped here today for a lunch break in our travels, just wanted a cuppa tea and a sandwich. 2 basic sandwiches, $17, and tea in takeaway cups even though we were eating in. Total $26.50. No plates, 1 small paper serviette each. This place is For Sale, I wonder why?
To the lady who served me today well done, you were brilliant in service espically being the only person there.efficient and very polite.nice date scone and a brilliant milk shake thank you.
The lady was nice enough but im sorry to say the coffee, was bad. $10.90 for 2 coffees that tasted awful. I couldn't drink mine sadly
If you like really expensive coffee and a coffee that tastes like something your drunk grandfather made then stop in.this place could be awesome.but if you're going to have the most expensive coffee around at least make sure it tastes nice. My partner tipped hers out and I only drank mine because I felt so bad that I'd just wasted $10.00 on nothing
Thank you to the Tarawera Cafe who sold us 10litres of diesel when we were caught out in our motorhome. It was expensive but we are very thankful and relieved.
Cafe was closed when i got there but still a great rest stop. Freedom camping permitted 1 night. Dogs allowed on grounds but to be kept on leads at all times.
Very expensive $8.50 for a very bland egg sandwich. $4.50 for a t bag in a takeaway cup. Blow flies all over the window where we sat. Won't stop there again.
We like it here and always stop in halfway post. Great for ciffees, snacks, ice-cream stretch your legs and dogs pee stop
This is the single worst Cafe in New Zealand. I just made a stop here and bought a sausage roll and hot chips. The sausage roll was rock hard, and the chips were completely drenched in oil; they were soggy and tasted like raw potato. This is also the most expensive Cafe I've ever been to, and you don't really grasp how extortionate the prices really are until you walk out of the Cafe with a slab of meat that's as hot as a soldering iron and smells like cardboard. These two embarrassments to cafe food and a bottle of water cost me $15.50 total. If the permanent smell of urinal cakes doesn't immediately motivate you to walk out of the Cafe questioning how such an establishment can function, I have no idea what to tell you.
Great toasted sandwiches. Clean toilets. Be careful when turning into the cafe From both sides as other drivers are not attentive.
A nice little Cafe open for teas, batista coffee and good variety of food on the Napier taupo highway.the cafe is currently up for sale
