Thai Lotus Restaurant

The best food and amazing service we ever had in a while. The dessert we ordered is to die for, and the food was so yummy (both the entree and main) —affordable and yummy food. Most importantly, Boe made sure we had a good time there. She was so lovely and welcoming.

Lovely food and exceptional service - especially from the owner who made our wee boy feel very special. As we were dining in they checked our vaccine pass. (Note to Ellipsis NZ in previous review: vaccine pass checking is NOT required for takeaways.)

Great food and drink, excellent customer service - lost a star due to not checking vaccine passes.

Food not brought to the table until customer went looking for it. Two courses for same customer. Food burnt - two courses. Food overcooked and dry. I would be embarrassed to return with my five friends. Disappointing. Never have had any reason to complain in the past 10 years of regular patronage.

Usually love this place.is it under new management? Seafood salad soggy.prawns and squid undercooked.all sitting vinegar soup.shame have really enjoyed this in the past. Pad ped chicken.disappointing.too.

A very disappointing first experience.
Noodles in Pad Thai were over cooked and clumped together. They were also way too sweet.
As for all the dishes, the meats were all dry and lacked any juiciness.
No one enjoyed their meal tonight, Pad Thai ended in the bin.
Friendly service though and food was hot and ready for the time we asked for.

If you would like have yummy Tai food in a bay please visit this restaurant. I used to very like Thai Lotus in Taradale. But very upset me even I am a regular customers. I ordered from Deliver Easy. Tom Yum soup with seafood coats me near $25.00 and come with very small container and leaking over my other orders. It make me really upset.

Our party of two are visitors to this area. The restaurant was well patronised. Even so service was prompt and our meals were soon on the table. We enjoyed our evening meal and recommend this restaurant.

Best place to get Thai food that I can find in the Bay. Pretty much all meals available with crispy pork. I usually get it as takeouts. Lovely staff and great food every single time. Always ready when they say it will be.

I've dined at a lot of restaurants in my time and I've never given a 1 star, but I'll explain why. Full review follows. We went in a nice restaurant, decor and layout was pleasing. Well trained staff. We ordered 3 entrées. The prawns were perfect, The mussels were very salty! The chicken satay were big portions BUT, they weren't top quality chicken, For how meaty they were I let this go. Until as I finished the last one it was pink in the middle. I told the waiting staff and her reply to me was "I'll guarantee this is cooked, but I'll inform the chef" This, with the following I have was a MISTAKE! The usual protocol would be.
1. Apologise
2. Comp the entrée.
If this would have been the case I would have given a 3 star but this is unforgivable! The main which was seafood also was average. With a bill over $70 which is what you'd expect to pay for what we ordered but the incident with the chicken is why this got only 1 star.

My new favourite restaurant! The food is brilliant and the staff are great. I can die a satisfied man after having a meal here

Nice place with fast and friendly service. Good sized seating areas. We had over 10 in our group.
Great assortment of mains. Loved the curry and the stir fry.
Will skip the dessert though next time.

I really liked the meal I had but being a vegetarian I would have liked more options for vegetarians on the menu. Good service and atmosphere.

Update 2020: Under new management. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food has turned into a sloppy mess. Pad thai is below average. Fried rice (Khao Pad) was pretty good. Interior needs a revamp, feels old and dated. Would still visit again as I have had good experience in the past. Hopefully the new owners can get things sorted.

Even under immense pressure meeting covid guidelines we had fabulous food and great takeaway service. Amidst the rush we didn’t get rice, no worries, we were given a credit and a heartfelt apology. We live in Wellington and have lots of great thai restaurants. We wished thai lotus was our local.

Had Pad thai twice from here and below average both times. Have eaten pad thai in many countries and places for over 20 years, definitely wouldn't recommend.
