Lovely restaurant. The first time I've had a lemon meringue tart that exceeded expectations. It was perfectly tart, just how I like it. The lamb and risotto were also delicious.

Fantastic food and service here today. Interesting dishes for sit-down or cafe-style food. Everything is freshly prepared and cooked in-house. Well thought out wine selection too. Nice outdoor terrace when the sun is out, a la francaise. Highly recommended for a great local spot.

Service is wonderful. Had the Chestnut, Apple and Celeriac soup for dinner - wonderful! Best Croque Monsieur in town. Staff always seem happy, which speaks positively of management.

We had dinner there last night for Bastille Day. The food was wonderful - a set menu of 6 courses. The highlights were the beef (perfectly cooked), the authentic French onion soup and the tastiest cheese. The only downside was that we couldn't eat the last course, we were so full, but we took it home with us. Thank you for a lovely meal!

Amazing little French restaurant, great cafe food by day and really nice restaurant in the evening. Best Brownie in Hawkes Bay

Disappointing - food maybe good, but spent a lot of money on a quiet night and one staff member was rude and argued as wanted to charge $20 for a plate to serve our own birthday cake ruined our granddaughters birthday meal with family.

Great to see the Tennyson Cafe become a great new bistro in Napier. A really good menu combining small plates and traditional courses, all with an authentic French influence. Well done! See you again soon

Thank you for the great breakfast and great service. Staff are polite and attentive. The manager also helped return my purse and wallet all the way to Wellington, thanks Julian! Really lovely cafe with quaint outdoor tables. Excellent service and very tasty food. Not large portions for lunch but good value. Best coffee I’ve had in 3 days.

Had cakes and a cappuccino for our table. I asked for sugar to go with my hot drink and was told "You do not need sugar". I did get a bowl of sugar but the rude comment spoiled the Coffee and I didn't drink it.

Great food and coffee. Try the hash browns with eggs Benedict, their flavour is just amazing, not big fat and greasy! Wish I could figure out the flavour to recreate!

Very nice place and good decor inside. I sat outside. Service was nice with attentive attendants.

Had their big breakfast as they were kind enough to remove the bacon and replace with sausage. 24$ approx. Similiar to prices everywhere but quantity was less. Menu mentioned portabellow mushroom but normal Mushrooms came out.

I also ordered a salmon side 7$ (smoked). Small for the quantity. This tasted just like supermarkets one do.

And large FW 5.50$. Ok (have had better coffees)

I also took a lemon cake 6$ and an Madeline 1.50$

Overall definitely worth a visit.

Best hot chocolate I’ve ever had and has to be the best in Napier!: D my partner loves the coffee too and the lamb sausage roll is beautiful. Staff are friendly, lovely spot for food and drinks! Recently left Napier and will definitely miss the hot chocolates!

Lovely place for a tasty morning breakfast or brunch. The service was outstanding and the choices were varied and interesting. The mince on toast and granola were both well balanced and filling.
The coffee was some of the best that I have had in some time.

We stopped here for a late lunch and order a toasted sandwich and a side of fries. Service was good and so we're the fries, but unfortunately the "toasted" sandwich was a massive disappointment. The focaccia bread was really crumbly and hadn't been toasted. It was more like eating a stale sandwich with a bit of melted cheese. Was not worth my calories. Also the fries didn't come with any tomato sauce, only a tomato relish which wasn't a decent substitute. When I asked for some tomato sauce I was told they don't keep any. I was shocked as that is a kiwi classic!
