Breakers Palmerston North reviews
76Nice atmosphere. Great for the kids. Plenty of games to play and they have a pool table. Great friendly service. Fast as well.
We were booked in for 7.30pm on a Friday. Thought was a good time because kids would be gone and we could have a nice date night.
Partner got ribs and ohh it looked so good. But it’s was fatty, grissly and tasted like what I can imagine is tough dog meat.
I got chicken Diane. It was nice but chicken was tough! Had to use partners steak night to cook it.
The whole evening felt rushed, like we had bothered the staff by coming in because they wanted to go home or catch up on gossip about other colleagues.
The place is feeling old, cold and tired. None of deco has changed in over 20 years. It’s just a real average place now. I’d say probably good for families if you can afford it. No good for any other occasion.
The meal was nice. Prices are very dare now! Not really value for money anymore. The Manager/only one there, was very friendly and helpful, made sure we were okay.
Had a joint party of 50 people. We were told there was extra staff but even though there were more staff they were slow to take orders and meals came out for the same table different times. Apparently asking for water jugs was a sin. Very rude staff. The “stadium’ cake was a flavour one birthday girl hates. Just a disappointing evening. A missed opportunity for 40 people to order desert as well.
Asked for a well done steak. It was burned.
Can't think this is a family friendly restaurant with prices the way they are. We took the Thursday steak special. $37 for a 250g steak. NOT so special.
You get a decent portion for a fair price, it wont be busy and kids are well catered for, nothing more.
Service was ok, the food itself could be much better for the prices they're asking. A person on my table asked for beef schnitzel and it was more breadcrumbs than beef
Went for my great neices 8th birthday, the wait time is ridiculously long, and it wasn't that busy
Really disappointed- I ordered the lamb shank which was lovely however it was the potato flakes (mashed) that ruined the whole meal- not really worth the $32.00 unless you love a plate filled with potato flakes (mash)
Average food for the price. Service is what really let it down. Slow, disorganised service which led to a very dissapointing dining experience. We won't be back in a hurry.
Tried to make bookings through the phone and no answer. Arrive and it wasn't busy
wait times for our meals would of been nice if we were informed overall enjoyed the food.
Service was ok for a sixteen seating, but some meals mixed or wrong. I had a monster burger, meat pattie similar to budget meat pattie taste, being a meat eater, one bite, the rest left.
Good experience, loved how they have a call button to push when you are ready to order. Meals were a generous size and tasted good. Coffee machine wasn't working and they didn't have the flavor pulp for the frappe I ordered. Not a fan of the chopping board style serveware instead of a plate, kept cutting through the paper liner and food flung across table trying to cut the ribs as all served as one. Didn't get to try dessert as took to long to arrive after main, so we cancelled them off our order.
Turned up to breakers with my partner and my son and had our passes scan told we’re too sit and that was it. My partner went too bar to order food and drinks and was told to sit down and push the call button. Sat there for 30 minutes with a grizzly/couldn’t sit still toddler after pushing the button 3 times and still no service so we decided to walk out and get McDonald’s. No one even asked if we were alright or if we were waiting on anything. The least they could’ve done was get drinks and food for a 2 year old, we would’ve been happy to wait. My son on the other hand not so much. Won’t be going back anytime soon that’s for sure. Really unfortunate as we were really looking forward too having a family dinner here tonight.
Probably the worst meal we have ever had. Dry chicken, soggy fish and chips, bugs in the salad, warm beer (the second round the waitress asked if we would like her to look in the chiller for some cold drinks?) service was completely absent, you needed to push a button? I get that this is a pack ‘‘em in and get ‘‘em out type venue, so the staff are only working with what they have and are trained to do, but the prices are consistent with a restaurant that should be doing the basics properly, which this place clearly can’t. On a positive note, the young waitstaff are really friendly, outgoing and clearly trying to make the most of a poorly managed restaurant.
Great place for a quick bite. Menu had had a revamp but still had some of the favs on there. Great options for kids as well.
I had a BBC (Beef, Bacon & Cheese) Burger, Fries and a Corona beer. All very tasty.the burger was especially juicy. The service was very fast and courteous and it was reasonably priced. I'd go again.
Took nearly fifteen minutes before someone finally came to take our order. We had pressed the button numerous times. The place was not busy and we watched the waitresses milling around the bar area. The food was nice when we finally got it.
I had the Chicken sandwich, was a good sandwich until it had me in the toilet for a whole day. Thanks for the food posing!
Breakers Palmerston North has diffently up'd their game compared to a couple years back when I went. This time around the service was great and the food was delish!
