Fish King Chinese Restaurant & Takeaways

Well here we go again. Paid for two Hawaiian burgers no pineapple in either. The assistant told me we don't charge for pineapple. Oh yes you do mate. You charge for the pineapple and then get to keep it, though I notice it was you female boss that made them.

Got dinner from here, Waited at the counter for around 5mins before I was served, there was no other customers in the shop just no1 taking notice. Paid $75 for our dinner and it was horrible. The Chinese smorgasbord was gross even got bones in my chicken that should have been boneless, the fish and chips were dripping in oil when we got home and unwrapped it and the amount of chips was pathetic. My kids wouldn't eat it we threw most of it away. Really disappointed if I lived in pahiatua I would have taken it all back and demanded a refund. The lady im assuming was the owner was also screaming at the man I'm assuming was her husband at the top of her lungs and my poor kids had to witness it. Will never go here again

They were good when I moved to town but have progressively gotten worse and now I won't be back. Last meal was a $5 scoop of chips which was barely a handful, combination fried rice was 3/4 full and tasted below average, sweet and sour pork was tasteless with a burnt flavour. I'll stick to hill's dinner from now on.

Was good when we first moved to town but last few times rice seems very fluffed up to take up space and not cooked well, s&s pork taste burnt and $5 chip seemed like half a scoop.

We waited for a long time for our food. The man at the back, I think is the owner, keeps yelling at the workers. The women at the fryer was trying really hard to keep everything up but he keeps yelling at the women that you can tell she was panicking. After more than an hour our food came. Chips were nice but our order was messed up and we didn't get the orders we wanted. The cashier weren't trained well too. Overall don't go to here unless you want to wait for a long time before getting your food

Have waited over 40 minutes for my dinner. I phone called and they said it would take 20 mins. Won't be coming back.

When will I ever learn. I said I wouldn't be back but I did. Two pieces of fish, one mostly batter, a crab stick with the batter blown off one end and a spring roll dipped in batter and not cooked properly. The two staff were tossing the food together the female at full volume. The wrapping paper was greasy from the undrained food. A disappointing pile of yuck.

Shocking quantity of chip.can only taste the oil and the tarter sauce.not worth the price.

Ordered 3 crumbed fish and somehow ended up with 3 battered. One of the pieces of fish had bones all through it still. We also got 2 scoops of chips and it more looked like half a scoop. So overpriced!

Overall everything is great here but if you want a decent amount of chips your better off going to new world and buying a bag and cooking them your self. And don't ask for seasoning as you'll slap yourself in the face at the price of it

Two bad experiences. Paid for Hawaiian/eggburgers, no pineapple in either. Thursday evening paid for a piece of snapper and got standard fish, two Hawaiian burgers no sauce, no lettuce just scorched buns patty and pineapple. Needless to say I won't be back. They don't take the time to serve you but answer the phone while you try to order. Sick of paying for rubbish.

I'm actually sick of walking in and being ignored. I'm right here, don't make me wait several minutes and then answer the phone before serving me. I get there are different cultures at play here but it's soooo rude! The woman is nasty to her staff and always on her cellphone right by the window. Hit and miss with timing, it could be 5 minutes, or an hour and 5 minutes - I've been many times to give them a chance. Go to Hills Diner if you want too notch service and no longer than 10 minute wait times - EVER!

We ordered fish and chips and my daughter asked for wonton with sweet n sour sauce. She was charged $18 for them. 2 pieces of fish. 2 scoops of chips a hot dog and the wontons was $48
I walked out.
Once we were home the wontons are dry in a dish and you're given this God awful sweet n spirit sauce. I tasted it and threw it away. 3 weeks later we decided to try again. This time just chinese. I ordered sweet n sour pork thinking.surely they'll make it themselves. Nope. God awful sauce again. And again. Seperate
I binned it and made my own. Tastes much better

Not impressed paid $8 for a chicken burger which only had a chicken patty and a wilted lettuce in it

They stuff orders up. They disatisfy customers when they order. And they forget costomers orders. One costumer said that they forgot her order and she walked out and told them she's never going back there anymore and my husband and I agree with her. They stuffed up my husband's order and mine too. They even offered my husband a job and he told them to take their job offer and stuff it. We're not going there anymore. Stuff them. And we will make sure other customers know what Fish King are like with their customers orders stuff ups.

The burger was ok but the fish and chips not good at all will not be buying fish and chips from there again. Worst fish and chips in a long time

Not good my sweet sour pork had chicken drum stick in it tasteless as and taste reheated and old not fresh no good I'm not a fan. Not recommended plus i was over charged $6

Charged $5 for about a large handful of chips.
Also, they over charged me $8 for dinner. When brought to their attention, their excuse was “it was to cook the food”? Seriously.
However, the fish from here is really fresh and nice.

Looking at the current star rating, it looks like it's riding on previous owners coat tails.
The food quality is a bit hit or miss.
The chef/cook is a bit stressed in the kitchen and it shows in his food.

5min wait to order, 25min wait on the food, burger and chips were both cold by the time I got my order and 2min down the road home. Smorgasbord was operating but no food replacing what was gone, what was left looked old. Not enough staff working to keep up with orders. Unfortunate.
