Fish King Chinese Restaurant & Takeaways

Their chips and $17 deal are very nice. Their burgers are alright but their sweet and sour pork is dry. However the new recruited rookie staff seem to stuff up orders. I don't like salt and pepper especially on my food. And I don't like how they stuff the no salt on the chips up quite a bit when I order chips from them.

Lil Man working had excellent service. Food tasted great. Fish to batter ratio was perfect. Will visit again if I'm nearby.

Got us 4 fish and chips well done was delicious we are now working up this way so will be seeing more of Harrison logging

We have just had an amazing dinner, the Spring rolls are to die for, The kumera chips were so yummy, a beautiful piece of fish along with a Cheese burger and a dozen Won Tons with Sweet and Sour sauce.
The chip servings were a good scoop.
I can highly recommended Fish King to anyone wanting a nice meal.

We are staying in pahiatua for a few months for work and so glad this place is here. Just come down from the Coromandal and to get fish and chips this good from there your looking at $5 a fish, and I recon fish king is better!

Nice fresh fish batter to die for nice and crisp. Traveled thirty kilometers home still nice and hot and not sloppy still crisp

Not impressed and they seemed to be overwhelmed. Staffing or not, however I thought they were over priced for the volume and quality provided.

Friendly and fast service. Easy to wait with the kids as plenty of room. Clean premises and reasonable food.

Great food and excellent service, as only thing open in town as we travelled through. However, smorgasbord food was not hot.

One of the best fish and chips along with the western-style Chinese food in Pahiatua and the area around.

The Fish and Chips are First- Class delicious - would be great if they did a gluten-free batter for all us Coeliacs in Pahiatua and those travelling through. Would also be nice if the Chinese smorgasbord was topped up during the evening - especially on a Saturday night as by 7pm there is only the dry scrappy leftovers remaining in most of the stainless steel dishes. The owners and staff are very friendly.

Usually good, but today service was poor fortunately food was good. To the owners give your young worker a break he was not to blame you actually made the muck up not him

Good place to eat. But they use a lot of lemon in all sauces. Honey chicken is more lemon than honey.

Wasn't a good Chinese meal. Better last time so maybe it was what we picked. I prefer my veggies cut up.

Food good but they take too long to cook it. Only one in shop but it took 20mins to get my order of 1 fish n chips.

Looking at the current star rating, it looks like it's riding on previous owners coat tails.
The food quality is a bit hit or miss.
The chef/cook is a bit stressed in the kitchen and it shows in his food.

5min wait to order, 25min wait on the food, burger and chips were both cold by the time I got my order and 2min down the road home. Smorgasbord was operating but no food replacing what was gone, what was left looked old. Not enough staff working to keep up with orders. Unfortunate.

The phone service was so bad today the teenage boy I think it was, didn’t even say it was fish king what if we called the wrong number? Also no repeat of the order back to use to make sure it was right.are you training them properly?

Don't get the vegetarian burger unless you like potato fritters instead of a vegetarian pattie ‍️‍️
