LOCAL - Licensed Cafe & Eatery reviews
50Coffee was very average. If we aren't allowed to vape OUTSIDE then you may want to consider putting up signs. It also took 45 MINUTES to make a bag of fries! 1 bag! Not 100 bags.just ONE. 45 Minutes. Won't be back.
Good for something different then the usual offerings for a brunch. Can be a little small for some of the hero parts of orders.
Nice place. If you want to try the brekkie menu, the smashed avo + feta is highly recommended.the rest of the menu just seemed a little dull. Well prepared but nothing too fancy. Price is a little steep compared to other cafes. Haven't tried the lunch menu. Will probably come back for that.
Their museli bowl lacked of love.
But great coffee, great toast, and probably one of the best cafes in Palmy?
Great friendly staff and delicious food. Hired for private function and it was a wonderful venue.
Nice enough food and coffee, however we were asked to leave after a couple of hours to “make room for other customers”. There were no customers waiting for a table, and we felt we had spent a fair amount of money as a large group to justify lingering and enjoying our time in their space. We will not be back.
I ordered the fries. OMG, so tasty and the mayonnaise on the side was full of flavor! Will definitely be back for the fries!
Have heard good things about this place but not today.
Two out of three meals delivered wrong then returned with the other half of the meal cold. Returned again with some hot bacon and cold poached eggs. At that point I gave up.
Complained at the counter and got nothing but a vacant smile from the waitress. Not even an apology.
Complained to someone else, basically told it was my fault because we ordered wrong to start with.
Nothing worse than somewhere that gets it wrong and blames the customer.
The Local Cafe has a nice atmosphere, with a wide selection of menu food and decent selection of creative cabinet food. The prices are comparable to other restaurants and Cafes. I have repeated found the a la carte food to be rather, well, unnecessarily complicated by numerous different flavours that clash and confuse. I've eaten at the local a handful of times and it's been the same story of too many flavours each time I've been in. While its not always a bad thing to have complex dishes, and yes, the countless flavours and ingredients are tasty, Ive often found the complete dish to be overwhelming and pretentious at times.
Wasn't a great first impression, the layout and look was great, staff attitude was very 'meh' and the food was a bit average. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but as I say, not a great first impression.
Came for breakfast early one morning. Had a brekkie bowl and a avocado toast as well as some pancakes off the kids menu for the little one. Everyone was happy with their choices. Wouldn't rush back but was nice enough.
Make one of the best long blacksmith in the Manawatu and it's served with a glass of vizzy water. Yummy savoury muffins as well.
The Menu had a good selection of foods and there was come cabinet food available. I settled on noodles and my sister the salad (you decide the protein you want added). OMG - was that tasty, delicious, flavoursome. Actually one of the most enjoyable cafe lunches I've had.everything is really delicious
You told my daughter and her husband to sit anywhere then rudely told them to move. Sort your staff out so they 1. Know where to seat people
2. Are'nt rude in the way they address their customers
Had a salad bowl and a noodle bowl for lunch. Both were excellent - lovely fresh healthy food. My friends ordered salad bowls which were large and you could choose your protein, I had sliders which came with a choice of duck fat potatoes or beer battered fries. I chose the fries and the sliders were pulled pork.delicious!
Probably bad luck, but my mashed avo was crazy sour.and reason why I am writing it here is, that the waitress, which had an accident with glass of watter on our table, didnt ask, how was the food.
I’ve dined here twice in the last week - lunch and then breakfast and both were great experiences! Lunch bowl with halloumi was amazing and the avo/feta this morning was great service!
The Local disappointment. The wait time was longer than my drive from Auckland and the food came out cold. Staff weren’t friendly and the only slightly positive thing was that they had metal straws!
Barista was wonderful, great coffee and service:). Food was also delicious and beautiful presented (best fries around town) However the experience was let down firstly by the borderline rude host/waitress who was unwelcoming and pressured us with the menu to get our order in before a larger table to avoid the wait.and secondly by the 45 minute wait to receive said order of fries, a salad, and sliders. I really want to give the place a second chance - maybe when time is abundant and hunger is low.
I bet your wondering what the pink drink, it’s a Beetroot Latte, yes you heard me. It was decent but I added sugar to it. I also ordered
Deep Fried Cauliflower
Pork Sliders
Both very delicious and different, if you don’t like spice I wouldn’t recommend for you but if you do I 100% would recommend it.
I loved the mini coffee cups they so cute. The vibe and atmosphere was a happy and the staff are always keen for a joke/laugh.
Love love love it, would go back
