The Woolshed Cafe reviews
66 Had an enjoyable birthday lunch here in this country cafe. Built sensibly using wood creating a character filled environment.
Vegetable frittata was yummy, coffee was excellent and marshmallow slice…. Oh my golly gracious…. It was so delicious.
Highly recommend this place.
Absolutely fabulous place. Beautifully done up and great selection of food at reasonable prices. The staff are super lovely and the playhouses and play area outside is a big hit with our kids.
Beautiful ambience in this lovely cafe. Very rustic, with old tractor seats displayed on the wall, and lots of beautiful timber including roughsawn timber ceilings. We sat in the decking area at the high bar tables, but found the stools a little difficult to climb onto - perhaps not so suitable for shorter people! But once we were up there we were comfy. There was a great range of sweet treats in the cabinet - the apple and custard slice was delicious, as was the pinky bar slice (caramel and marshallow). However there was little in the way of savoury morsels by the time we arrived (approximately 1pm) unless you ordered from the menu, which we ended up doing. The bacon and eggs were decent, and the fries were lovely and crispy.
We will be back!
They have great food here. Generous meat portion and fresh cream/cake etc.spacious outdoor sitting available and they have a beautiful kids toy house to play in.
Good cafe experience just south of Sanson
Been a number of times, good stopping off point from places further north
Lovely bite to eat and g8 coffee Plenty of parking for our motorhome and lovely clean bathrooms A regular stop for us when passing through Keep up the good work folks
A Great Cafe to stop at, very accommodating, friendly, yummy food and a Special look at some really informative and furnished Herritage Houses payment is required.
A most interesting and informative walk through history, using a self guided audio device. There is an excellent licensed cafe as well, with a great food selection, and wonderful service. Congratulations to the owners, this place should be a "must do" destination.
Fabulous cafe with great menu, super friendly staff and service. Lovely gift shop, sad there were no tea towels for sale there! Out the back was a wonderful heritage walk through houses from 1860’s to 1960’s. The owner has gone a great job with them and was very interesting looking at the style of home and decor through the years. This place is well worth a look.
We just had a delicious eggs benedict breakfast here! Lovely staff, the food was really great, and excellent coffee. Quite a scenic little spot so I’m very glad we came!
Really nice cafe. Friend booked for 12 of us. Such friendly hospitable staff. Fresh scone to go with chai latte.
Bonus was a journey of nostalgia walking through the houses behind the cafe.
A blast from our past. The audio sets provided interesting info. The houses are really well decorated and we found many items of furniture and decor we remembered as young children.
Just a great way to look into our history. Well worth a visit.
We stopped on our way home from South. The scone and Lemon Cake very nice. Fish Pie average. Coffee and service good. Nice spot plenty of room and not crazy. Be back.
My choice for a great cafe in the Sanson area. You'll get real, healthy, wholesome food as opposed to meat pies/sausage rolls/greasy food, although they do have meat pies and sausage rolls, just better quality. They also have vegan options and scrumptious flavour combinations for sweet and savory goodies. Milkshakes, smoothies, coffee, tea and professional service to boot! This is my go to spot for grabbing brunch or lunch when heading into Wellington from Waioru or on the way to Waioru from Wellington
The food here is excellent. We had bacon and eggs, and the French toast (comes with bacon and banana). The rest of the meals look great as well. The coffee wasn't the greatest but don't let that stop you.
I really liked this place. It was the first convenient place to stop that looked lovely and inviting after leaving Wellington. Lots of parking, lots of table, speedy service and fast delivery of food without it compromising on quality. The coffee was good too. Meant we could eat good food and get back on the road promptly. It does get busy by the look of it, but it has quietened down when we got there, which was about 1.30 ish. Think it closes at 3pm. Will definitely be using this as our regular pitstop when driving up from Wellington. My son loved the tractor outside.
Could have had my meal without the snarky attitude. All I wanted was my panini cut in half. Won't recommend, won't go back.
A nice lunch in a great relaxing atmosphere. I had a burger and I thought it was a little small and simple though for the price.
Food was fabulous and staff very accommodating when asked for some items to be served on the side.
Vegan food options available and no issues to ammend a dish on the menu to suit dietary requirements. Kids menu options available.
Known milk alternatives, soy and almond.
The car park and the queue for the counter was very busy and the staff member handled it in her stride with no issues. We ordered a vegetarian breakfast, kids pancakes and bacon and corn fritters and it arrived very promptly, approx 15 mins
Warm and cosy, good food - would recommend the stuffed kumera, and coffee was very good too. Lovely staff.
Yummy food, came out within 10min. Adequate kids menu options. Play area out the back was good fun for our two (4yo and 8yo). Plenty of space indoors, friendly staff, scoop ice cream also available (Kāpiti). Great place to stop in for lunch on our way south.
