Blue Thistle Cottages

Perfect location 30 second drive from Te Anau. Amazing service very clean room and very nice owners.

We can’t thank Maggie and Ian enough for their extraordinary help when I had a medical emergency. From the minute we drove up to these charming cottages we knew we would have a wonderful stay. The cottages are beautiful, sparkling clean, and supplied with everything you need.
Maggie and Ian are absolutely fabulous!
We had two stays at the cottages booked, and in between the stays we were out on the Milford track. Unfortunately I had a bad fall on the track and had to be medevac’d out with a concussion and broken bones. Because we were supposed to be staying in huts on the track we had nowhere to stay for 2 nights. We called Maggie to see if she had a vacancy at the cottages which she did not. Maggie and Ian were so fabulous and helpful, calling around town to find us a place to stay. They came and picked us up at the medical center and drove us to the hotel that Maggie had found for us in the height of tourist season.
When we returned to the cottages a couple of days later for our second stay, they were there to make sure that we were OK and we had a second fabulous stay at the cottages. We can’t recommend the Blue Thistle cottages highly enough. Thank you Maggie and Ian you are exceptionally kind people and we so enjoyed meeting you and our stay at the cottages.

Charming cottages with lovely garden, mountain and countryside views. So quiet and peaceful. Maggie is a wonderful host. Very close to Te Anau Centre. Such good memories

Maggie could not have been more accommodating if she tried. Cottages are picture perfect and location is incredible. Hosts went out of their way to make our stay one of the most enjoyable of our time in the South Island. Next time I'm passing through I will definately stay here again.

My husband and I visited Te Anua and found ourselves unable to find accommodations due to a local race. We called Maggie (our 20th call) and she was able to accommodate us for one night in one of her beautiful cottages! We arrived and she was busy cleaning our cottage so we could check in early. Maggie was friendly and a wonderful hostess! The cottage was so cute with had every amenity we needed complete with amazing views of the mountains and a few friendly cows! Thanks Maggie! Maggie was an excellent host and the cottage could not have been more comfortable. Spectacular location just a few minutes out of Te Anau town centre, and we felt very lucky to have stayed there for a few nights. Would unreservedly recommend!

Rachel and David were lovely hosts! My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at Te Anau and loved the cottage stay. Everything was clean and ready for us. Highly recommended to check out this small but lovely town. They have such adorable animals too!

Spectacular views, the cottage so clean and cozy, the best of all was Rachel and David, you feel at home immediately! So kind people and their pets they are out of this world, Rachel and all the pets came to say goodbye when we were leaving and I even felt sad to leave them behind. Will return for sure to the Blue Thistle Cottages, lets say there is so much good energy there!

My wife and I, along with a few friends stayed here after our wedding. The owners were incredibly helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much. Beautiful setting and good facilities. Would absolutely recommend this place and love to stay there again.

Very good value for money, apartment was spacious and clean, with lots of outside space for bbq or just chilling out. The owner is very friendly and had lots of suggestions for fly fishing spots. My favourite aspect is the view: very beautiful 360 view on the very close surrounding nature. It is the perfect place to relax.

Small downside: a little distant from the town centre if you dont want to use the car (30-40 min walk) and no washing machine available (although I totally understand the reason: the apartments have to count on their own water supply and are not connected to the main grid). There is a laundrette in town.

Wonderful. Highly recommended. Great location, quiet location and comfortable accomodation. Very pleasant, friendly, owner too
