Brown Trout Cafe reviews
43Stopped for lunch. Friendly owners who obviously want hard. The chef is VERY talented and the menu a little unusual displaying his talents. Signature lunch dish looks to be the Hoagie, various flavors. Hubby was inlove with it. I opted for cheese rolls. Stunning, best I have had. Go well guys.
It's a quaint place with a little gift shop with handmade items made locally. The staff there are so friendly, food is great.
The bar interior with wood panels, fireplace, trout prints and deer antlers against the walls is stunning. The one large outside table is the perfect place to bring a bunch of friends to and hang out for hours. The scandi baked good are great and the bbq bowl is the equivalent of a pole bowl for meat lovers. Of you are into good food and a great atmosphere this is rhe place to visit. Athol is a great portal for outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, hunting and mountainbiking. The staff kept apologising because the food took some time to be served, but it wasn’t necessary because I did not want to leave.
A BBQ restaurant and cafe. Also selling some interesting organic and natural products.
Nice driving stop for a quick bite and drink.
Pizza was amazing, just too much onion, but it's a personal preference. There's a table pool to spend time while waiting
It's a quaint place with a little gift shop with handmade items made locally. The staff there are do friendly, was is great.
I visited this wonderful cafe en route Te Anau. It’s simply gorgeous. Cool atmosphere, beautiful outdoor setting and wonderful service. And typically quirky and interesting locally made gifts and treats.
Really liked this place. Coffee was great and the pies looked amazing although I didn't have one
Somebody recommend the Hoagie sandwiches here, so when driving back to Queenstown, decided to stop off for coffee.
Wasn't even that hungry so shared a hoagie with my wife. The hoagie was totally worth it; meat had been slow cooked for something like 15 hours and was slightly smoky.
Best I have ever had, so Athol well now be my go-to stop when travelling south from Queenstown
Coffee was good and nice place to sit and have a break from driving
Stopped here new years day. Only coffee and pizza on offer. Wouldn't waste my time stopping here again
If you want try a southland cheese roll they're great here.
Also some fudge on sale at a stall at the door.
This place is a hidden gem. Great food, especially the brisket, best coffee we've had in nz. Great eating area including a pool table and bar.
Kitchen not taking orders due to Covid.they're missing out! A great alternative option at Garston just up the road!
Great wee local pub. Staff were friendly and helpful even the locals gave great conversation! I plan to be here again next time we are in Nokomai
Great place to meet the locals and friendly staff. Very much appreciated and enjoyed the roast lamb.
Disappointed at the food choice but did enjoyed the Coffee and Sandwiches. Glad the sandwiches were wrapped in glad wrap as there was a fly buzzing around in the cabinet. Mentioned it to the owner but he didn't seem to be fazed by that and no attempt to removal it.
Most entertaining cafe I've ever been in. Friendly staff who interact with customers. The food was great too.
Had the Saturday special curry, really quality, hearty and delicious. Kids loved the pizza. Very nice people running the place.
Coming back to Queenstown late eve and super glad to see Brown Trout still open. Took away a yummy fish n chips, had a gin & tonic in the garden while we waited. Spot on
Had to stop for a chai latte to wake up my eyes after straight stretch of roads to Queenstown. To my surprise as soon as I entered the cafe with a bell.it of full buzz with lots of people enjoying the food and there is a bar sideby for drinks.amazing to see that busy little Cafe in almost deserted tiny town.
It made sense after I sipped my Chai Latte.a must stop for character they kept.
