Freestone Lodges and Accommodation

When u find there is no Wifi, electricity in to ur room, you probably would wonder whether to go for it. I did the same. But when u visited there, u will 100% love the concept there. It gives u a chance to stay away from phone, tv, etc and live a quiet peaceful stay. U will just love that. Birds chirping, calm and quiet surrounding, classical log burner. It is relaxed. Bit cheaper compared to other around bcz no electricity, wifi etc might be. But, at a walking distance, u have bathroom, toilet and electricity if u need to. But, u got solar powered lights to the room, which is not that bright. Gas cooker, almost all the kitchen utensils etc are there. U will love it. U cnt regret it. Jimmy the owner is a really hospitable person. At his visit to u he will nicely talk to u, and provide u if u need something. The only issue is u will need to provide ur own stuff for ur shower, I meant shampoo, body wash etc. Them no hot water supply to kitchen sink. That is where they lack. Else I dnt find anything wrong.

Was greeted by our host on arrival and he had the fire lit for us. The cabin was as described. Perfect for what we required it for.

Me and my wife had a night at the Freestone Lodges recently and it did not let us down at all. We were met by Jimmy who is a lovely human being! Jimmy showed us to our cabin and we also booked in for two baths later in the day. Upon coming back in the afternoon Jimmy gave me a shout that our 4pm booking of the baths where ready. The setting was quite simply perfect it really was. We could not have asked for a nicer day in the Winter. Our Cabin was delightful and we would love to come back in the summer. We made our fire and settled in which was lovely. The Cabin was warm and cosy and we loved the scenery on offer. Jimmy was a great host! Even offering to us that we could watch the Rugby up at his place and that he would be out. For an experience like this we feel very fortunate we had this opportunity here in our own backyard of New Zealand. The guest book was a collection of great stories and comments from people who had visited before and be sure to check the story out of the Cabins on their website. Jimmy is a special guy and the lodges are great we will be back.

This place is just amazing! The hosts are so friendly and the huts are very cute and have everything you need except power, however you can use showers, fridge and washing machine in the main house. It is an amazing ecostay experience with stunning views over the mountains. Alternatively you can book private hot tubs overlooking the mountains, what an great experience. You can also purchase free range chicken eggs freshly laid at the property.

It's the genuine kiwi experience! Great cabins nestled in their own little pockets of bush with bird song. Hosts are awesome and their is cellphone reception. It has an amazing view of the lake too!

Awesome cabins with an expansive mountain view. Great warm fire and friendly chickens. Fantastic experience!

We spent 2 nights in one of the cabin and we had an amazing stay! The cabin was very clean and the facilities as well (only a few meters away from our cabin)! The bath experience was the best part of our stay! Laying down in hot water watching the stars and drinking some wine! What a unique experience. We saw 3 shooting stars and couldn't have wished for a better weekend! The hosts were incredibly friendly and super helpful!
People writing bad reviews on wifi not working well and the cabins being "too simple" haven't understood a thing about this place. It is THE PERFECT place to disconnect from busy routine and take some time to relax! If you are looking at a 5 star resorts with all fancy facilities, this isn't the place for you. But if you are looking for a cute cabin in natute with beautiful surroundings, you will be more than happy:)

Nice hot shower, clean flushing toilets, and once you get the fire going it gets real warm in the cabin! Would love to come back again, and the beds are really comfy? Hosts are amazing- so friendly! Really recommend this place

Such a wonderful, back to nature place to stay. Best night's sleep ever. Woke up to the sound of birds singing. Magic

Awesome accomodations! Heath (the new operator, just took over from his brother & sister in law) is the man. Note that this is definitely a rustic experience, but the ambiance (wood stove for heat) and view of the mountains is incredible.

Perfect spot to explore the fiordlands! The hosts are extremely helpful, welcoming, and knowledgeable but also give you space to enjoy the serenity of this magical place. I stayed in the cabin with its own bathroom and kitchen which was very comfortable and homey. Highly recommend Freestone!

Sweet place to be while visiting Milford Sound. Very basic, solar power in the huts only. One thing I disliked was very poor light in the hut. Then again if I would have mentioned anything to the wonderful hosts they would gladly come up with sth, that's for sure.

Great place. Friendly hosts. Would have given 5 stars if the oven worked. Improving the wifi signal would also be great! Overall, recommended! Thank you.

Beautiful place, with amazing views. Really nice cottages. Good place to stay if you want to go to Milford sounds.
