Manapouri Motorhome and Caravan Park reviews
22A special place to visit again. A beautiful NZMCA park and a trip to the Church Cafe is recommended. They have a courtesy coach as well.
Some reservations on this style of Campground for NZMCA camps in the future eg kiwicash key entry, isolating camp spots with shrubs around. However for facilities, bikeable /walking distance to good meals and coffee, boat departure it is great.
First class site with power, water and dump station and very helpful and friendly custodian who went beyond his job description today. This site has to be the best NZMCA site in NZ
Fantastic, very quiet, and restful. Pity loo and kitchen was locked. Rather pay pit more and have the facility.
For NZMCA members this park is an excellent alternative to the Te Anau park. Members only campground. Lovely sites. Dump station. Laundry (coin operated). Ablutions have been closed up (need to be self contained etc).
Driving in l was sure they had a maize to challenge ourselves in. Wrong! It is an incredibly well set up camping ground with hedges between every site for privacy. Huge area to maneuver any size camper around. We were blown away by the facilities and the owners who are a really lovely couple who have put 21 years of love and thought into this park. And their dog.what an absolute cutie!
Super nice camp. Spotless and clean. Large sites, ensuite bathrooms and lovely hedging between each van. Came in April and heard the dear roar. Made you feel very close to nature. Selwyn was such a nice guy very welcoming.
Beautifully set out and maintained campsite. Excellent bathrooms and the best ever dumpstation which even has a handbasin with soap! Nice to have fresh herbs growing.
Pristine grounds and immaculate new facilities.
Unfortunately the reception we received was rude and unwelcoming. We had disturbed thè owner preparing a meal. A sarcastic remark about us travelling around using camp saver rates was inappropriate. Negotiations over site in an almost empty camp was a major issue and done in bad grace.
To have the owner peering through site hedges at us and other campers at 9.30 the following morning was disturbing and not appreciated.
It is over a week since we stayed at this camp and we still feel shaken enough to write this report.
Great stay. Friendly hosts and guests. Facilities extremely clean and well cared for. Highly recommend
Great park, the tidiest we have seen in our trip so far. Everything ist absolutely spotless and very well maintained! The kitchen hast basic eqipment but the Others facilities are amazing. USB Station, Maps for the surroundings, nice BBQ area! Only WiFi is a bit poor. Lovely hosts. Hedges around the whole area and around every site making it cozy and private.
As we get in we were checking for signs and boards but the notice they put for no vacancy was too hidden so we drove in and parked. And actually there were so many empty spots available. Within 5 minutes a rude lady came to us started screeching on us while we were using washrooms. Saying you cannot use facilities if you haven’t checked in. I said we were about to check in we just came and she kept screeching on me without listening and took me out to show sign that says no vacancy and closed the door on my face. It’s the worst experience I can’t forget how rudely she behaved. No humanity at all.
Beautiful campsite with lots of attention to detail. You can have lots of private space with your van but also make it more open and talk to others. Plenty of information at the reception or from the owners.
So very quiet. I have never seen a better laid out and clean holiday park. This place is RV heaven. The pictures don't do it justice. The warm breeze that brings a small hint of flowers. The very distant call of cattle. Lots of wonderful bird calls. This is a family run park and it's a must stay.
Good facilities and well structured camping. Showers are very good. Wifi is not very good however. There is also no TV in the shared living room and no accessories in the kitchen. Good place to stay overall
This campground is one of the best we've seen in our camping life. Everything is very well maintained and looks new. We had a great chat and a few laughs with the lovely couple who own the campground. In the morning they helped us immediately when we had an issue starting our car. Not only the camping area is super clean, but also the showers, the communal area and the kitchen including fridge and freezer. The washing facilities are good and there is enough space to dry your stuff outside, in case you don't want to use the dryer.
Perfect location for visiting Milford and Doubtful Sound.
We extended our stay, what else could I say.
Very rude owner who was miserable and very unfriendly. The campsite lacked in character and there were signs everywhere telling the guests what to do and not to do. The wifi was bad and we couldn't get connection by our site. We tried to get connection a few meters down the road in our van and parks up next to the bins. The owner approach us and ask us why we are not in our allocated spot and rudely asked us to move saying it would be easier- although I'm not sure who it was easier for.
In the morning the male owner waved at us as we drove past and the female owner didn't even wave.
It's a shame this park is clean and tidy but the female owner is rude and interfering, I'm not sure why she is in the hospitality business.
From Scotland, traveling around New Zealand in a wee camper van. Camp ground is absolutely immaculate as are the showers (free and also all each and in a separate room with toilet and mirror!) and all other amenities. Dining room could be a restaurant.
WiFi is free and very fast. Staff are absolutely lovely and every single pitch is pan flat. Loads of taps and recycling bins too.
Can't fault the place even slightly. 5 stars.
Camping très bien avec de vrais salles de bain. Un espace cuisine salon salle à manger rétro très accueillant et une gérante charmante. Je recommande fortement
Hidden gem, best value for money in Manapouri & Te Anau. Spotless amenities, beautiful location and the best free WiFi (even on our site) that we got on the whole South Island. Ridiculous that most places in Te Anau are still charging for MBs. These people understand how to run and maintain a wonderful holiday park!
