Orepuki Beach Cafe

I’ve been here a few times now and each time has been a fantastic experience. I’ve tried several dishes (burger, risotto, and curry) and multiple desserts and the coffee and found them all to be superb, plus the staff is without exception welcoming, accommodating, and friendly. The service and atmosphere are excellent. I have always gone alone but the place is family-friendly. No wonder you find both tourists and locals! Many thanks for the wonderful place.

Went there 1st October with family was an awsome feed the food was perfect and the friendly service was amazing they were full and we still didn't have to wait long for our lunch there was 12 of us

Stopped in here after Gemstone Beach and we’re welcomed by a roaring fire and lovely staff. Great carrot cake and coffees/hot chocs and the main menu looked very inviting. Sadly we couldn’t stay for lunch but will be back next time!

This place should be the standard for roadside cafes across NZ. I can’t remember what this white chocolate cheesecake was called exactly but it was gluttonous. Went 30 April, was definitely open not sure what gmaps is on about.

Very friendly place. Food is good and really like their lemon lime and bitters - it's made just right. Lots of kids toys to keep young one occupied.

Had a great lunch with exceptional service. Food very tasty. Great portions. Cheesecake to die for. All round best had in ages. Can always rely on small town kiwi places to turn it on.

A most wonderful experience! Warm and cosy with delicious food, great service and so much attention to the smallest detail!

Absolutely a MUST-GO-TO place! Our group of 12 went to celebrate a family members birthday and EVERYONE enjoyed their meals, service and the extra mile the team went to to make our visit the absolute best it could be. They even put up birthday collateral without any prompting! Although I didn't have it myself - the seafood chowder was labeled the best they've had by a few of our attendees! There's definately no questions why this place is always so busy - It's AWESOME. Thanks guys for a perfect lunch.

The realgem of the area is this little cafe.
Such a surprise to find amazingly good food in a small cafe in the middle of nowhere.
The full breakfast enough for 2 people so do consider sharing if you have a smaller appetite.
The lamb and spice sausage was how sausages used to be without all the meal.
The owner hand makes these little beauties.
Coffee was sulerpb, service was super friendly.

January 2021: What a find! So pleased we turned back after visiting Gemstone Beach. Wonderful food and service. Wish we lived closer so we could come back.
Edit: we came back! 3/3/23. Another 5 stars for a fabulous meal.

This is a very good place to have lunch very good food friendly staff and excellent location.

One of the best Cafés I've ever been to! I came here several times and always tried another dish and I liked them all. The owners Brian and Penny prepare everything themselves, from their home-grown lamb and beef to the house-baked burger buns, slices and cakes and the hand-picked salad. Very friendly and helpful staff, easy parking, nice atmosphere and the best food you can find anywhere on the South Coast! Highly recommended, I would love to come back and have another of Penny's brownie slices! <3

The place is beautifully presented and the service warm,
but to be honest compared to the other reviews our food was not good, maybe a bad day in the kitchen, and very over-priced.

Don't let the quaint country side setting fool you, this is a heavyweight on the southland foodie circuit. Make sure you come hungry. Epic breakfast/lunch menu and great coffee and cakes.

Loved it. It was raining and cold outside and we were welcomed into a warm and friendly environment fire was going and the meal and coffee was fantastic.

This is our ''go to'' place for our family special days, and also all family/friends that come to visit us.meals and staff/service always AAA+. Well worth the drive to Orepuki

Called in on way through to Teanau. Coffee was great and selection of pastries super. Staff were very friendly and this place is immaculate.

Outstanding! 6 stars if I could. Delicious food and friendly staff. A fantastic place to stop. I've just travelled the length of the country and this was the best cafe I visited. A job very well done.
