66 We were greeted by a lovely Hostess who found us a table for 3. The waitress we had was both friendly & efficient. 2 of us had Beef dishes, the Beef Cheeks were tender and the prime rib was well cooked. The accompanying vegetables & potato were all well prepared.
All in all a lovely meal with great service. If I ever return to Invercargill, I will definitely go back there.
While I thought I was going out for dinner with one person, it became apparent when my food came out we had more company than we thought. At least 3 green bugs absolutely feasting on my cucumber, the waiter was really nice and replaced my food. You’d think I’d get this meal on the house, after literal bugs crawling around in my food when only my coke no sugar was taken off the bill. Soooo disappointed, absolutely loved eating here but “the supermarket pre washes for us” isn’t always enough to keep the creepy crawlies off fresh produce?
The food is well prepared and well presented and there was a pretty wide range of choices. Certainly the best evening dining we found in Invercargill while we were there. The staff were a little pressed for time and it looked like they either ran with low staff numbers or, as so many nowadays, had shortages.
Four of went for dinner last night and were very pleased with everything. Service was great without being in your face. Dining room is a very relaxing place to be. We all had entrees to share and mains. Squid was yummy and pull a part loaf was just right for four people. 2of us had beef cheeks and they were perfect and would definitely have again. I'm told the ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and vegetables were great. The chicken dish was polished off before I got a good look at it suffice to say it must have been bloody good. None of us had dessert. Meal size is really good.
The meat was so tender, the flavours well balanced. And the staff so polite and efficient. Really good place for high quality food at a reasonable price with excellent service.
Very nice, but they have a cutlery draw in the dining room and of course the staff are returning clean cutlery wanting to be ready to go home at the end of the day, but, hardly makes what would have been a nice ambiance otherwise. Lighting was a bit bright for our purposes - a couple out to dinner. Outside that, food very good, don't miss going here, staff are pleasant and accomodating with our last minute booking.

Beautiful food, atmosphere and staff. I came in by myself as was in invercargill for work. Only downside I felt Luke I was hidden out theback on my own instead of in the main restaurant area.possibly because I was on my own.
Went there for dessert. Great service from our waitress and the desserts were delicious. Was able to book on short notice too. Highly recommend
An upmarket pub bistro, with a wide range of drinks and nice food. Better than average. Nice, clean and comfortable dinning areas and helpful staff. Happy to visit again for a drink and a tasty meal.

The venison was excellent, sides were also very nice, complimenting the meat.
Highly recommend making reservation ahead of time. Service can be better, if you get a young guy taking care if your order it requires some patience and understanding. None the less the food was

This is the second time we’ve been here. Today for a quiet lunch for two. Excellent service, excellent food. Consistent. Warm, friendly, well priced.
Beef cheek and fish of the day were our choices, the beef cheek was extremely tender and beautiful flavor would definitely have this again. The fish of the day was very tasty. Both very filling for a main. Staff were friendly and welcoming and service was great.

Decided to do a bit of road trip to Invercargill and wanted a nice place to have dinner and I have to say the Saucy Chef did not disappoint. The food was incredible and as someone who had never had Hare before I was super impressed with how delicious it was and how well everything on the plate paired together. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will be coming back as soon as I can!
Huge menu of great sounding dishes. We had the venison and the pork belly. They were both delicious, big portions so we didn't quite finish them to leave room for the dessert as there were some seriously tempting choices there. We had the creme brulee and the teardrop doughnuts- both amazing. Thanks for a great meal!
