Ziff's Cafe & Bar reviews
63 I’ve driven all the way from Auckland to Bluff. I can’t see I’ve visited all the best restaurants on the way. But i can definitely say it’s one of the best restaurants among them. The oysters is very fresh, but there’re just still oysters, if you like bluff oysters, order them. If you are not to keen on oysters, then just skip, as they are quit price. The oysters soup is very nice, creamy enough and come with a lots of oysters inside, the bread is well toasted and buttered. The fish& chips are so good. But you can go no wrong, when u use blue cod. The meat plat is also very nice even better than nice, like great.
The sirloin steak is cooked to perfect medium rare, the stuffed chicken is also juicy and not dry at all and still very tasty. The thick bacon and pork rib all also good. Only thing is, it’s probably too big for one person to eat them all and finish before it’s get cold.
Overall a great restaurant, a bit pricey, but all worthy, and you gonna have to pay some extra for having such good standards food in a such remote town.
Went there today. Got the chowder was super yummy! The one female that served me was friendly and welcoming definitely recommend!
Great food, good sized meals. Staff were friendly and helpful. I was really impressed. Only downside was outside chairs not very comfortable for those of us built for comfort not speed.
Went for dinner on Saturday night. Lovely food and great service. As it was a hot evening we sat outside for a time. Unfortunately the mosquito's/sandfly's were out in force and many of us came away with bites. Maybe some citronella candles might help with this, over the summer months?
Very disappointed. My meal looked like it was thrown on the plate and my partners meal was no better. Admittedly we arrived at 1.45pm and were told the kitchen was closing soon. But hey if we had known how dreadful our meal would be I would rather they told me the kitchen was closed. There was certainly no love on our plates!
Indie and Kim were awesome! Beat service and top notch food from the kitchen staff!
Will be back for sure
Had a beautiful tasty crispy chicken salad for lunch. Very polite and attentive staff. Clean and welcoming premises. Will definitely dine again
My wife and I love this restaurant, great food, cozy atmosphere and attentive staff. If you like seafood the seafood chowder is a must.
Lovely lunch on a cool winter day. Staff as always helpful, courteous and friendly. Oyster soup was great.
Went there for the first time. Great atmosphere; wonderful service (both our waitress & manager) and the food was just exceptional!
Thanks so much; my wife & I will definitely be back for sure! Regards Eli
A work colleague and I were looking for somewhere to go for tea whilst staying in Invercargill. We were recommended Ziffs. A bit of a drive out of town but well worth it. Service and food were excellent. Can definitely recommend this place. Good selection of beers and wine as well as good food menu.
Have to give 4stars only because I find it bit noisey with lots of people. Staff are outstanding as us the food
Unfortunately wouldn't recommend this place. Granted the place was busy but we did book a table and if they were under staffed to cope with the amount of bookings then they shouldn't let people book. We sat there unacknowledged for 40 minutes and had to go to the bar for a drink our elves. Still no body came to take our order, tables beside us were getting waited on and the girls simply ignored us. Absolutely terrible service, we walked out.
Found this place very friendly, we have a dog and she was given a couple of treats and water. Food very nice and resonably priced
Great service, lovely food, good sized meals and cosy surrounds all make for a brilliant night out!
Waitress were very helpful and get a 5 *
Food not so great, raw steak, over cooked chewy pork, bland chicken and undercooked roast veges, chips super over cooked
Fish meal was perfect, bit disappointing
Great food great staff. Our waitress India was a credit to the restaurant, she was attentive and friendly and went out of her way to make sure we had a great time. The hospitality trade could do with more staff like her.
Service here was welcoming, helpful and efficient. Menu was full and choices plentiful. Our selection was soup course and was a very filling fish chowder - smoothe, hot and filling. A classic! The surroundings were comfortable, warm and the "open " fire a homely touch. A really enjoyable "stop-over" and recommended without hesitation.
Quaint and rather pleasant place to visit out at Otatara.
For as many times as I have driven past it I decided today do you actually stop in and check the place out.
The young lady serving us was more than pleasant and accommodating. The coffee we got was good and as well as that we ordered wedges and cheese rolls. Could not complain about the food at all and the service.
I’ll be most happy to go back therefore I’m giving it four stars.
Had egg plant and haulmi fritters, yummy. Pea pie and pud was big and tasty as was the seafood chowder. Wine reasonably priced.
