I suffer from ADHD, chronic Depression and generalized anxiety disorder, and the way these "nurses" treat you is utterly disgusting. I needed my medication, have it all sorted out with my doctor, missed an appointment, and just needed to have a little phone call to fix the issue. Instead I'm berated on how I missed my phone appointment (due to the fact I've been unable to sleep properly, and why I NEED my medication) made to feel like it's my fault, and then gate guarded for another month waiting for my medication, when a simple phone call for 5 minutes with my doctor would sort it out. She didn't even hear me out when I told her what was going on. Just assumptions on her half.

If you're looking for a doctors in New Plymouth, walk past this one. I've been going to this one for around 6 years. Most of the doctors are pretty good here, but the staff and reception are incredibly unprofessional, and unhelpful.

I swear it was good when I first joined, now it's terrible. They stopped one lot of my meds without warning, didn't even ween me off them as you are meant to do, and only fax through one part of your medication, say they will fax through the rest, 3 days nothing. I'm being charged for this poor service as well.this is people's health and well being they are messing with

Devon Medical Centre are the most rudest, unprofessional people I have ever encounted from a Medical Centre in all my life. They don't listen on reception, give you the run around, can't be bothered in the job. Dr Ann Edwards is the most rudest and non caring Dr I have ever had. Does not listen to your concerns, wavering her arm to get you out the door. I changed Dr's quick smart.

The receptionists were efficient and the nurse absolutely lovely. I can’t give enough credit to the nurse who listened well, was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, my 2 stars is for my wasted time with the Dr.who didn’t listen/didn’t seem to understand what I was saying, didn’t make me feel comfortable, and had me out the door with my problem unresolved, in tears and instructing me to book another appointment next week. She showed a lack of concern for my tears and I was embarrassed to leave the room but was promptly ushered out regardless. When asked by the Dr why it’d taken me so long to see a Dr about my health concern, which meant my problem had escalated, which was due to Dr (lack of) availability, it seemed to be ridiculed. Won’t be seeing her again.

I would never ever recommend anyone with mental health to see Dr N Jenkins, he cut down my medication, he didn't listen to me at all, he had a consultation with himself, I would also like to let the public no when I spoke with the practice manager she was awful, no understanding at all, then speaking to Dr Jenkins he has now agreed to me taking 3 other tablets
This is not ethical can anyone else share to

Receptionists are super rude and will try to argue with you about stuff they have no idea about. Ridiculous wait times to see a Dr who is super condescending and won't listen to your concerns at all. Every appointment I make feels like a waste of $30+ I barely have to spare.

Very disappointing service! We book an appointment A week before then turned out the person I talk over the phone forgot to book us. What kind of service is that.

Horrible service. Phones are horrific, can't even get through to ask a simple question! Get told to leave your number and will get a call back in 4 hours.which never happens. Almost impossible to get an appointment now. I asked for a pill repeat which I have never had a problem with before only for a doctor who I've never met before tell me that she wants to see me to review.but I've got a week left on my pill and can't get in with a doctor for almost 3 weeks! When you go see them they are always 30-40 minutes late which doesn't make sense since they shove you out of the room after 3 minutes of not listening! If the location of this place wasn't perfect for me for work I would have left this doctors years ago

Unfortunately I received some incorrect information which lead to me not being prepared for a follow up doctors appointment.

Errors or mistakes happen, and the 3* is not due to the misinformation I received, I had a nice experience with the doctor and nurse, however as the rest of the reviews suggest the receptionist came across very rude and condescending. I felt like I was in trouble with my school teacher, with her questioning my story as if it was some sort of made up excuse.

From reading the other reviews it appears other people have had a similar experience, I did not want to give 1-2* stars as the facilities were nice and other staff are friendly and polite. I would suggest they have words with some of the receptionist staff, or perhaps it's the same individual.

Their phone system is the worst. You spend 11-20min moving up the queue, when u reach next in queue it cuts out or you get hung up on. This happened to me 3x in a row! The receptionists always look miserable in their jobs, the nurses phone manners are rude and abrupt. However the Doctors are amazing if u actually get in to see them. More often than not u need to go else where to see a wak in doctor.

Reception staff are rude and incompetent, majority of the Drs don't listen and are only interested in getting you out of there as soon as they can.

Been with DMC for 13 years since arriving in Taranaki. Have always had prompt, professional and empathetic help for all the family.

The rudest receptionists. Never answer emails, and you're lucky if they even pick up the phone. Getting a prescription repeat is a nightmare procedure.

Reception staff are condescending, rude and unfortunately are so busy that their follow-up communication is non-existent making prescription requests or any other requests incredibly difficult as there is no way of knowing the job is completed and somehow this is always the patient’s fault.

My doctor Christina is absolutely incredible. She makes me feel comfortable and at peace to talk about my mental health and I feel safe and free of judgement when visiting her for medication.

Terrible. I had a problem requiring an advice of an orthopaedic surgeon, but, as per the rules had to go to GP first, of course. She was absolutely terrible - stated my diagnosis and when i asked for remedies, couldn’t do anything better than to read and to point to an online article! What is the matter with her and why did i waste my time and money on something that i could read online from home anyway? She didn’t even refer me to an orthopaedic specialist! I left with absolutely nothing!
Luckily for my condition, i am in another country now, where I could go to the specialist I needed (without the wasting my time on intermediary) and he told me straight away that i had a completely different condition.
I feel cheated. If i knew of the possibility of something different, I wouldn’t have wasted time. What right does that GP have to be so arrogantly confident in what she is actually ignorant?

Incompetent staff who cannot organise themselves. They make you go through a medical test with a nurse to onboard you to baseline your basic stats which is pointless from a medical perspective. It’s revenue gathering particularly when it doesn’t relate to your reason for visiting. Avoid

Have had some pretty shocking experiences with a couple of the nurses, reception staff and doctors. Once, I was having rolling panic attacks over 36 hours and was exhausted. The nurse I talked to fobbed me of. My subsequent complaint was ignored for weeks and when it was finally addressed, it was shoved under the carpet. They don't care. There are some lovely staff too, but unfortunately, the bad over crowd the good.
