Thai Chef's Restaurant New Plymouth reviews
70Amazing friendly service. Sam is one of the best guys that you will meet in your life. The food is authentic Thai and nothing less, best in New plymouth.
It's only been a week we arrive in NZ and we've finally found food that keeps us warm and makes us feel at home. We ordered chicken tomyum (level Hotter) and beef blackpepper, with some rices too! Love your Thai's vibe, eventhough it was actually too dark for us, but it's okay, we'll still be back for the food you serve.
A popular place that has earned itself a good reputation for great food and service at affordable prices.
Green chicken curry
Main meal size. We didn't get meal size rice with it just a very small container.
Absolutely lovely front of staff - wonderful takeaway and how it is wrapped up and ready to go. The kitchen staff really make an effort.
Ordered over the phone, asked if the curry came with rice to which they said yes. Got home to find a tiddly little punnet of warmish rice. Also ordered 2x roti for $4.50 each which would have been fine if they were big, fresh and flakey, which they were not. Green curry was decent but ultimately felt like a bit of a rip since I had to bulk it out with some bread from the pantry. Won't be back any time soon.
The worst Thai food I have ever tasted. I have tasted genuine Thai food in Australia and Christchurch. I don't know what that food was but it was tasteless full of salt and some cheap bottled sauce. The pork was like rubber and no vegetables apart from a handful of frozen. Don't bother.
Our tofu green curry taste real good, nice deco and vibes, just the table we were assigned is lack of lighting. Only shame of the dishes would be the coconut rice doesn't seem nicely cooked, too much moist and taste overly sweet. So would definitely NOT recommend having coconut rice with the curry cooked with coconut milk, it just ruined the superb flavour of the curry itself. Also won't recommending the entrée "No moon tonight" (prawn cracker) that the flour is too hard to chew, and too less amount of prawn. The boss (I assumed) is generally putting a smiles on in every moments, good service staff as well.
The waitress shared their food is hot so we asked for mild.no heat at all. So disappointing.
OMG! The food is superb!
Beautiful meal, beautiful surroundings, beautiful Wife. What more could I ask for!
Highly recommend the yellow curry with chicken.
I loved my appetizer more than the main. The coconut sauce with the rotti was a fave. The rice rolls were delish as well. No photos unfortunately as I demolished them immediately. The suicide bomber (in the photo) is nice. Could do with more vege. You need to eat it quick as the bowl gets soggy and the chicken goes chewy. Mocktail was okay
I had a great time with my daughter and partner from Los Angeles food was spot on, and service was quick
and the food didn't take long to our table, great night
We liked this place so much we went there for dinner 3 nights in a row despite the fact we were supposed to go somewhere else. Plenty of gluten free options.
Very good value and nice tasty food. We had dinner and came back for takeaways a couple days later
I ordered the pad Thai with tofu and asked for it to be vegan, it came with eggs. Because it was a takeaway meal I only found out when I got home.
When I called them to say what happened, they say “but you didn’t tell us no eggs”
They put vegan on the receipt! But it was my fault for not telling them no eggs.
Majorly disappointed.
Dined here last night and was very impressed with the quality of food.
The 3 of us had lovely meals. Fresh, very authentic and flavors were superb.
Highly recommended.
Utterly disappointed. If I could award zero stars I would. Having been to this restaurant over the years many times, they have really gone down hill. We waited 1hr 35 mins, on ordering we were told it would be a 30 min wait. No apology, no explanation. On arriving home the food was luke warm. I will not be going back.
Found a piece of steel wool in one of the dishes last night. Told the waitress and she just said she would tell the chef but didn’t even apologise. Would think twice about going back.
Absolutely terrible customer service. Ordered at 5.50pm, was told pick up would be 6.30. Arrived, only to wait a further 45 minutes. When collecting order, was asked to pay but not told of any backlog or a wait time on the order. Bearing in mind it hadn't even been cooked yet! Not only that, was also overcharged for rice that was changed out for coconut rice, but didn't receive original rice that came with our order. Food was tasty etc but their lack of transparency about times and resulting wait on a birthday dinner was just appalling. You would think something extra would be included for having to wait, but no. Not even an apology for the huge wait. Wont be back, there are plenty of other options.
