HUHU Cafe reviews
65Food was amazing! Service was fast but not rushed highly recommend when passing through or staying in the area!
Stunning food. Accomodating hosts. The apple rhubarb crumble was delicious. The most delicate crust and crumb on top with delicious sauces and icecream. A gem. Make sure you book, they are busy.
Stunning.
We stayed at Alex's place air bnb directly behind the cafe.
The evening restaurant was noisy for my wife and the staff kindly did takeaways for us to take back to our accommodation directly next door.
I had pork hock and my wife had fettuccine followed by apple rhubarb crumble with icream.
This place is top notch. Great service and great food.
Highly recommend.
I wish I could share a photo but we ate it all.
Lovely Sirloin, was perfectly medium rare
Would recommend this place!
The apple & rhubarb crumble is to die for. If I was at home, I'd be licking the plate clean!
A good choice when you are visiting the caves and search for a good dinner place. Friendly staff, fast Service, you usually get also a place without reservation. Prices are quite high and do not completely match the quality offered. However, still reasonable for such a touristic place.
Amazing views. Tender and flavorful salmon. Lamb was a little dry but still delicious. Local beer lacked complexity but paired well with the food. Would recommend to anyone going to the Glow Worm Caves.
Do not miss this restaurant, especially if you are near Waitomo caves! Highly recommend the peanut butter parfait, it's better than you can imagine. Staff were nice enough to pack our order in boxes as we were doing a road trip.
Good choice for lunch if in the Waitomo area. Very tasty food. Had the soup of the day- roasted tomato with parmesan. The portion is quite big so it can be filling on its own if not starving. The panfried fish with gnocchi was excellent. And the mushroom fettuccine was nice - just a bit too oily for my personal taste. The big plates are BIG.
Wah tasty noodle and coffee. That's a good lunch we have there. Helpful staff made our meal enjoyable. Good.
This is probably the best pick of the lot of cafes around the caves if opted out of a lunch for any tour you’re a part of. The lamb mini burgers were bomb!
Great local place, all dishes are very delicious and prices are reasonable. Pork hock and beef sirloin and rocket salad are my favorite. The local Waitomo pale ale, King Country Brewing, is very smooth and refreshing.
Super fantastic food! I loved the overall vibe of the place a lot.if youre lucky, you can even get a table at the balcony which overlooks a few rolling mountains! The view is really good, so i wld totally recommend trying ur best to get a balcony table.
We were recommended this place by a local. Absolutely fantastic. The lamb shank is ridiculously good.
The medium rare steak was overcooked (more like medium well) and a little tough. Staff was friendly however and the coffee was excellent.
Maybe not the super best ever, but probably one of the best in town: good quality, lot of choice and good portions. On top of that, nice personnel and good location
The food here was affordable and of a high quality. Service was excellent too. Sitting in the outdoor section afforded a great view of the surrounding scenery.
Nice decor. Service was a little slow but then it was super busy so completely understandable. The cream cheese & chive croquettes are absolutely delicious. I had a slight issue with my main but it was resolved well by the wait staff. Reasonably priced.
Sorry, not impressed with the food or service. Food is alright. Missed one of our orders without any apology and waited too long for it to be done again, had to cancel the order in the end. Yes, service is slow too, it was obvious that other tables were getting impatient too.
Cosy ambience, perfect spot for catching up or winding down after exploring the town with perfect farm view. Fair selection of foods with vegan options, especially their deep fried sweet potato skins and perfectly seared lamb.
