Karapiro Cafe & Gifts reviews
59Stopped to grab a pie, got a bit excited at the gourmet steak and cheese for just under $5.had better value from a gas station pie
Tasty steak and cheese pie. But was is worth $6.50 I'm not sure. Anyway this is a nice country style cafe with homemade goodness. Brownie was yummy as well
Apart from taking a risk getting into this place, across SH1, if you are traveling South, this place is a nice spot. Good value meals. Browse the gift shop while you wait.
Very nice coffee. Friendly service. Beautiful place with lots of seating inside and out. Convenient location for stopping along highway 1 for food, drinks, restroom. And a lovely little dog called Teddy
Fantastic setup for children with the outdoor section. We had 4 very happy children run around and stretch their legs whilst we enjoyed lunch. Great stop half way for us travelling from Auckland to Taupo. Food was fantastic including the coffee. Highly recommend.
This is a haven of peace from the busy highway.
The staff are considerate and Mr Zheng is generosity personified.
A great please to visit, delicious food, peaceful surroundings.
So dreadful to hear of the awful and indiscriminate shooting of Mr Zheng, however so pleased to hear that he is making good recovery progress.
Good luck to Mr Zheng, his family and staff.
We are regulars on the way through to Opotiki. It's always a pleasure to stop here. Just reading a news report that there has been a serious incident this morning. So sad to read this, the owner and staff are always just so lovely, pray that everyone will be fine, and wishing the victim a speedy and full recovery. Sincerely, Robert and Marilyn Johnson.
What a Gem. Purely luck that we stumble across this amazing Cafe. Lovely place and amazing people.
A comfortable cafe to stop at, I had the full breakfast and tea. Balanced price and good service in a pleasant country environment.
Every time we have a wonderful visit and great food. Even open Xmas morning what a lovely surprise and stop we had last Xmas 2018. So sad to hear of latest awful incident I hope it does not deter you from carrying on. We tell every one to stop at your place we hope you continue to get great and more support our thoughts are with you and hope Jim gets well soon.all the very best Allen&Sharyn Wallace.
Always a pleasure stopping at the Karapiro Cafe and Gifts. Food is awesome, service great, good choice of gifts and a very nice atmosphere. If you get the opportunity stop in there
Well unfortunately not a good visit this time. Had been once before and it was fine with lovely gifts on display. Entered cafe and by the time I had got the attention of a very sullen blonde hair young female it was 4.05. Asked for a flat white. No not making coffees now. I thought machine had broken
No apparently they were closing. I again thought oh gosh they must close at 4.oo.no apparently they close at 4.30. Twenty five minutes later! Not the way to run a business methinks. I was after a coffee to go
Very friendly helpful service since the change of ownership- food still all good - will call again!
Great brekkie. Wonderful ambiance and a very happy server. Highly recommend for a pleasant experience.
One young girl on front counter needs to learn a few more people skills.obviously not happy being at work. Coffee and food good.
From previous reviews I guess we must have struck you on a bad day. I paid $6 for a mince n cheese pie and was bitterly disappointed.pastry was flakey and crisp however the filling barely covered the bottom of the pie and the cheese was hiddden so well I never found it. Sorry we won't be back
Beautiful coffee. Mouth watering Ginger Slice. All food cooked on the premises. Totally delicious. Thank you Karapiro Cafe. A1+.
Very friendly staff and BEAUTIFUL CHICKENS, the food and coffee was delicious, always my go to on the way to Cambridge
Quiet, cosy, casual
This describes the cafe perfectly. Just quiet, cosy and casual, as if you'd dropped in to your nana's house on the way home. It has a large outdoor area for families and plenty of friendly faces and toys to keep the kids busy.
Please continue on to Auckland if you are looking for a high end cafe with a more expensive taste ;)
