Kava Bar & Cafe reviews
46 Wow what an amazing place! You could almost miss it passing through on the main street but once inside very welcoming. Not overly contemporary but very warm, well organised and clean. The mocha I had was lovely, traditional mug and the coffee itself silky smooth, not a hint of burntness which can be common nowadays.
Staff were super inviting & friendly.
Didn't have a chance to eat but what did come out looked amazing and very good protions, especially for the price which was very reasonable. Great variety too, breakfasts, pizzas, burgers, other meals and counter food. Can't remember the last time I've seen a big breakfast for $21, will 100% be going back for that soon. Edit: Went back for the breakfast - was not disappointed - check out the photos!
They also had a bar so will definitely be seeing what the evening vibe is like next time I'm around at the weekend.
Very rude customer service eggs were way over cooked didn’t get what we asked for very disappointing.
Was looking for an eatery that was open on a public holiday and our favs were closed. As there were very few options in town, we decided to give this place a try for a late lunch.
We all commented that the burgers were rather delicious and the chips were perfect without a significant wait for the meal. Beer on tap went down well too. I'd recommend this place as the staff were very friendly and relaxed.
I was in Kava the other day, and they were flat out with lunch rush. Lady comes eating a pie from somewhere else and expects to be served and get a seat. The manager recommends she and her group leaves. Good on him. She should have brought her pie from Kava. Best Lamb pies in Waihi.
I was waiting in line after walking the streets of waihi for close to an hour looking for somewhere to eat that had tables. I had about one mouthful of a pie left in my hand to eat while our group of 8 were waiting in line to order. A man working there came to me and told me not to eat it in the restaurant, I replied that I was just finished the pie as we came in. He then asked me aggressively if "I had bad parents or something. " The group of 8 who were going to order food decided we would leave after that comment. He stalked me out of the restaurant and berated me about being rude and to get out of his restaurant. So threatening and uncalled for, this man needs to calm the heck down. I reckon in his day he did a lot worse than eating the last mouthful of a pie in a restaurant:)
Nice Cafe. The pizza was yummy! Menus everywhere though and was hard to move between them all. All in different fonts and sizes. Way up high, under the counter, on the counter, staff didn't feel very organized. But food was good so made up for it
Lots of choices, friendly people and the meal was excellent. Husband had an omelette which was very tasty and full of the fillings he chose. I had big breakfast and it was a good feed. Recommend and will definitely go there again.
Good food, the omelette was the softest I ever had, super interesting. The pie was loaded too.
Appearance can be deceiving. Though the decor might not suit some, I assure you this cafe has everything you might want. Alcohol, kids meals, lime milkshakes, Thai chicken salad, burgers, nachos and coffee. Staff were friendly, kind, and obviously committed to their job. Great service, good food, and a fair price.
This was the only place opened to have a coffee on a Saturday afternoon (After 5pm). We were 10 coming back home after being in Waihi beach and really needed that stop. The service was friendly and the food and drinks were nice as well.
Asked for bacon & maple syrup with my meal, didn't mind paying the extra. The man behind the counter never said no, pretty sure I paid for it. Never got the extra things I asked for and left hungry. Lovely people & vibe tho. Great price too!
Broad menu items, plenty to decide on. Was well presented, healthy portion sizes and the staff were attentive and friendly.
Don't go there. The place is a mess, the food really average and the staff are very unprofessional
I got big breakfast, it was ok, classic flat white, they using trim milk, but all good, meals was yummy bacon crispy.
Coming back from the beach, we were all hungry for a good food. Among the very few places open, we found this nice and cozy restaurant in Waihi. We order the hot salad, nice and well seasoned. The pizza was on special and the meat one was delicious, homemade and looking fantastic. My one was pasta with seafood with sweet chili, what a nice and happy combination, enjoyed until the very last. Great service and kind staff. Will be back soon.
I was warned milk shakes here are literally milk constancy. You want a shake like you are used to having in the States, you have to ask for a thick shake and they didn't make them.so it was a bit disappointed drinking flavored milk.it did taste good though.
Average food, ugly place, terrible service.
You will easily find something better than this place in town.
Fantastic lunch on Boxing Day. While a number of cafes in Waihi were closed, Kava managed to provide a fantastic lunch while they were VERY busy. Particularly good were the corn fritters and Crispy BLT. Good prices too. Well done Kava
Legend all round team, I will definitely be recommending to friends and whanau.
Top of my go to place when I travel these ways again
What a great family owned business, friendly service with a smile. (I know hard to see under the mask). Always made to feel welcome! Happy New Year guys
