Kava Bar & Cafe reviews
46The service was friendly but the food wasn't I ordered chicken and bacon pasta it was when it arrived it was so dry ask the owner add cheese sauce had to wait a while came back was like soup with very little flavour
Awesome duck and cranberry pie (a tad sweet) but was nice and hot. Was a very busy Saturday so service was a little slow but thoroughly enjoyed it. Plenty of seating.
Between the rude staff, being over charged and the lacklustre food we were pretty disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend at all
Wonderful cabinet food as usual. I had the carrot cake with fresh cream and a trim latté and took a piece of custard slice to go. Everything was divine as always.
Almost everything on the menu had bacon - an issue when bacon is carcinogenic. Eventually settled on a dish with the bacon removed. The owner was helpful but not dressed in a professional way. Food was ok, coffee ok but not memorable. Went back next day for a smoothie which was good.
Went there a couple weeks ago. My nachos was like reheated cold mince and beans. BLT was a piece of bacon with 1 piece of lettuce in between 2 slices of pita bread. Only decent thing was the brownie. Also when I went to go to the toilet I seen the kitchen and it was disgusting.
Thai chicken salad was delicious. Healthy portion and a decent amount of chicken. Fast service too
I thin the pizza was the most overpriced pizza we've ever had. I'm sure they have heaps of other great food. But definitely wouldn't recommend what we got, the base seemed pre-made/bought (although I would be happy to be wrong), and the toppings definitely didn't justify the $20 price. They also charged us for the gourmet version instead of the standard option which we never asked for, and they didn't check before putting it through. We didnt realise until it was too late. Wouldn't go here again.
Stopped for an iced coffee on the road. Happy with the taste and size - fairly strong and not too sweet
Friendly staff but jokes and decor leave a bit to be desired. Juke box should be albums not the radio. Price ok
I had a lovely ham and cheese panini which tasted good, chocolate frappe tastes the same as a milkshake. Very nice place that had good options for breakfast. We ordered kumara fries, eggs Benedict and the big breakfast and we ate all our meals. Would recommend.
I love the happy, homely feel at Kava. They make you feel like a local and are never too busy for a chat. Thank you all so much for your wonderful custom. Kava is now my local coffee place. BRILLIANT COFFEE!
Very friendly I had butter chicken and rice. The butter chicken was lovely just a shame it was served in a soup bowl with the rice on the bottom and the rest on top. Would of enjoyed it more if it was on a plate with rice not covered with the butter chicken. Lovely and tasty all the same.
I like the genuine kiwi feel of this place, as a visitor from Wellington. Cosy family friendly rooms at the back of the main cafe are great (board games, toys provided). A notice alerting that some staff were hearing impaired spoke to me about welcoming the everyday person from all walks of life. We enjoyed a hot drink and yummy date n caramel muffins. Lived in feel, friendly service.
Service was very good. Scones a bit crumbly and tasteless. Tea for 3 was very good. Chicken ie very nice.
Had the Brunch Stack, was amazing. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the Rosti was tasty. Would definitely go back
Cool cafe on Seddon street, reasonable prices, good service. We were able to get good speed free wifi by asking the owner. They don't advertise it which is a shame, or an advantage for those who already know as we can keep it quiet and not attracted tonnes of internet hungry hoggers!
Very friendly and helpful staff. They have a large selection of meals displayed on blackboards for meals at anytime, and most of the items in their display cabinet are made on the premises. Alan has a great selection of unique fillings for his pies. Kava Cafe also has a great menu for evening meals, at the moment they are only open on Friday and Saturday nights for dinner. Kava Cafe also has a liquor license. Children's meals are also on the menu and they also offer Gluten free meals. A good place to stop for refreshments if you are passing through.
Lovely coffee, friendly service and tasty food. Will definitely stop off here again when we come past this way.
Aucklander en route to Tauranga. Bangers and mash $9.80, pint of wild buck $6. Good traditional regional cuisine. The owners are always up for a chinwag. Realistically a 3.5 but the fish chowder had too much fish sauce. Board games on the ready. Probably one of the better options in Waihi
