Licorice Cafe reviews
66 Good service and friendly. We had a scone each and coffee. The scone was lovely. Coffee was good.
Worth a st8. We had been there afew times before.
It is the loveliest cafe I have been to in awhile. The service was excellent the cafe itself was very clean. We had coffee to takeaway and wedges which were superb. When passing thru again will definitely stop!
Always a must stop when on a kiwi road trip, Very clean and the staff are really nice. Food is great. Staff were friendly even though place was packed with people.
Nice simple food delivered quicly and to a high standard. Good options for kids with reasonable prices and decent portions.friendly staff. Plenty of seating inside and out, Nice area outside to sit, unfortunately i got eaten alive by midges. Is lacking car parking a bit. Over all a good spot to stop and feed the family
We enjoyed ice creams in cones at the Licorice Cafe. Nice to have proper ice cream in cones and not just pre packaged ice blocks and ice creams. Lovely outdoor seating area.
Stopped for lunch like we usually do on our road trip, I was disappointed to see the changes. Still an alright stop to have lunch but it's not as good as it used to be.
Great holiday coffee. Cabinet good looks great bit we didn't get a chance to try it. The shop had a great selection of items you might need whilst away from home.
We had breakfast here, everything thing was top notch, including coffees. Recommended the Eggs Bene - a very well execute dish.
Dropped in here because the bypass route doesn't take you into Taupo and I was holding off buying a coffee until I found somewhere that I thought would be halfway decent having wasted $5.00 on a coffee at Okere Falls Store earlier in the day.
The cafe wasn't that busy as it was late afternoon and my coffee was made by the trainee under the watchful eye of the senior barista. They took their time to make me a proper coffee, relief!
I liked the dedication the staff showed when I was there, they were busy keeping the place clean and were attentive.
I think the decor and especially the outdoor area could be improved as it is a bit gloomy with the dark umbrellas and fenced in area. It would look better if it had light umbrellas or pots of flowers on the tables to brighten up the space, the inside of the cafe was light and airy.
We really like this cafe and try to always include it as a stop on our way on SH1. Good service and food. It was great to see it so busy when we stopped in.
Stopped here again on my way back to North Auckland and the service was excellent, had to wait for a table as it was full to capacity.
The food and service is still excellent, as before, now rate it 5 star.

Clean and tidy, staff always friendly, good coffee. Convenient place to stop, pretty nice food.
Stopped for toilet and meal 23/12 and again 28/12. Meals reasonable quantity, value and quality. Coffee superb. Service very good, even when busy. This is now our goto stopover when travelling.
Went to the Cafe this afternoon for a meal had fish, chips and salad and one piece of my partners was not cooked properly and when the staff were told they returned it to the kitchen, when asked what the Cook had to say was told she was on her break we left telling them we wouldn't be even even though we often went there for coffee
Absolutely fantastic quality! You cannot beat their Licorice Big breakfast. It's a must. Staff are so friendly and efficient.
Great food selections, drinks and even some last minute groceries right beside the main road. Great if you don't want to leave the road and by passing Turangi, only minutes before Turangi heading south or after Turangi when going north. Neat boat ramp or lakefront areas to eat takeaways or plenty of room to eat in. Clean, tidy and nice friendly staff.
A great plus was a good selection of licorice can also be purchased for the on going journey or presents. Great little find.
Friendly service, big breakfast was way too big for me but thankfully hubby helped me. Best scrambled eggs I've had in awhile. Lovely cuppa too.
Nice spot to stop for a break on a trip and grab a coffee and something to eat, limitedselection of sweets. Pet friendly with a outdoor seating area. Also carry some grocery items. Team on at visit were good.
Third time we have been there over the years and the food is great and staff are still attentive to the customers
Beautiful meals, well worth what you pay. Homely little country cafe. Definitely stop by on your way to Turangi. Sorry no photos, Burgers smelt to good to wait.
