Pokeno Bacon Diner

We had all the cousins and their kids here for brunch.
Food was great, service was great.
Did I mention they had great Bacon?

Food was good, but twice now in the last month, it's been almost cold. Disappointing.

Awesome bacon, great sizes so you will walk away full. The creamy mushrooms are awesome too.

Had a delicious meal yesterday, great value for money, the mushrooms were extra yummy, and the staff were lovely. Very highly recommended

We made a pit stop here for brunch before continuing our journey. What I liked most was perfectly cooked bacon was not salty at all. Quick and friendly service, generous fillings and good portions, reasonable price, cleanliness, plenty of parking. What else could I ask for? Certainly recommended.

We were driving from Auckland to Rotorua and needed a stop to refresh and have coffee and breakfast as we left rather early from Auckland without breakfast. We also noticed that it appears to be a popular truck stop as well. We ordered of course Pokeno bacon with sunny side fried eggs and toast - yummy! Coffee was good too! Definitely worth a stop if you need a snack and a coffee.

In 2023 I had sausages eggs and chips, $19.00 with a drink great value. Excellent sausages, and chips, eggs cooked perfectly

Just brought 2 x B.l. A. Ts very disappointed, bacon over cooked, couldn't even chewbrids had a lunch

Second time I've been here, lovely breakfasts, their bacon is super tasty.
And great coffee!

Rather disappointing this visit. It was very busy. You expect to get what you paid for, right!
3 rashes of bacon (got 2), scrambled eggs, hash browns, toast, tomatoes (n/a, but onions instead, got nothing), seems like tea/coffee no longer available with breakfast.
My son paid for the deluxe version, but poached eggs (which I swear, were bantam sized yokes). The only other difference was he had the option of baked beans or mushrooms. Baked beans for his dad, rather than pay for a side dish.
The place was way too busy, so decided not to complain

Cannot go past this place without stopping for something with bacon in it. The best tasting bacon in town, if not the country!

Whether it's the big breakfast, a pork roll, or even good old bacon and eggs, they all taste amazing!

Update: ratings gone down one star because they didn't have tomato so replaced it with onion however no onion to be seen. Also, three rashers of bacon advertised but only came with two I'll put it down to covid cost cutting, but hope to see improvement the next time we pop in️

Bacon & Egg Burger was VERY AVERAGE as they forgot to add the egg in, which was a little Disappointing as We’ve Always stopped here for a Kai/Feed before heading back Home.

The perfect Big Breakfast to start the day, The Bacon and eggs was perfect. The toast was toasted perfectly and the size of the meal and cost was awesome. Thanks Ladies for your great service,

I liked the bacon burger wasn't what I was expecting to be really honest it was way better lol it looked and tasted fresh buns were soft i added an egg too made it way better I reckon. Toasted sandwiches were on point I really recommend you get try this as i didn't have a chance to take a photo as I was starving lol really hit the spot cheers guys. Everytime I come through I'm definitely calling in.

Best place to get a bacon burger and chips for under $10! The chips are awesome and there’s a tonne of bacon on the burger! Serve can be a little slow but they’re always really busy

When you decide to drive 40minutes for breakfast after hubby and I coming off night shift. You bet the bacons all that. Service is excellent as well.

We called in for lunch was told there was 20 minute wait. We waited 40 minutes we went to get a refund as time was against us to be told “Oh your means are done just waiting on toast” tray was pushed across the counter for us to carry. When the toast arrived we asked if there was a spoon so we could remove tea bag. “No sorry use a stirrer server leant across the table opened stirrer packet removed stirrer and put it on the table” restaurant was grubby the tray where the condiments were the paper towel they were sitting on looked like it had been there awhile. Floor was dirty food on floor. I think eatery has changed hands since we last frequented. Needless to say we will not be back. A bonus was there was plenty of bacon on our “delux” meal. Thanks

Decent enough food. Even brought 3 packs of bacon from there. Staff were a little unresponsive when we left and thanked then (but was in the morning)
