Pokeno Bacon Diner reviews
58Had a breakfast and the bacon just tasted off. My friend said the same. First time I've visited for a couple of years. Won't be going again.
We had a quick stop and ordered a bacon sandwich and bacon burger. Food is pretty good, the bacon definitely elevated the taste.
Always a great stop on the motorbike or in the car. On the bike can park right outside which is a bonus. Can’t go past the breakfast bun - delicious!
Best bacon butties in New Zealand. I prefer salad with mine, which is optional in the price. There are three rashers in the sandwich. Worthwhile stopping to get one. The is a good selection of dishes on the menu.
They also sell bacon and sausages in the shop. Or go through to Pokeno to the butcher shop for a greater range of products. Also if you buy a certain amount of bacon you can get a discount.
I've seen a number of times now that Pokeno bacon is one of the best in the country, if not the best.
Fast friendly service. All of the bacon had sold out unfortunately. I ordered a bacon burger. Great size. Really filling. Needed to say no tomato sauce as it over powered the bacon. Yes if your going ask for no tomato sauce
Service awesome. Place is always clean and tidy. The food is always yummy. Enjoy locally made bacon and ham.
Breakfast for four here this morning. Great chips, egg bene not bad but yolks not runny, really awful pre-cooked pork sausages, def not pokeno sausages! Stodgy floury mushrooms on toast, awful undrinkable coffee, service was fast considering how busy they were, disappointed!
Pokeno Bacon is an oasis off the highway - the bake bean stack is delicious, satisfying and excellent value. The team are friendly and welcoming - a must before or after visiting Auckland. Worth detouring to for a delicious meal break.
When you know you know. It's bacon sandwiches done really well. They do a really awesome thing to help out other stores around them, namely the sweet store. If you order a shake it comes from the sweet store. I'll take photos next time.
So yumm and there were only two workers on and they smashed out the orders. Way to go Pokeno bacon so yummmm
The Deluxe Breakfast was Perfect, Bacon and Eggs were cooked just right, the toast was still warm when it arrived. Great Stuff
Last here about 3 years ago and was impressed by BLT toasted sandwich and fries so had same again and it was delicious. Great food, friendly service and clean premises. And busy with plenty of happy patrons.
Sadly was my favourite but has gone down hill. From cold food, unclean knife and fork and just worn out building. Maybe it was a fluke. I will try once more and change if I am wrong.
Always a treat. I go for the mushrooms and bacon. Plenty, and I mean plenty of real Butcher cut Pokano bacon, buttered toast. They do get very busy. But if abit quiet. I would ask to have my bacon more on the crisp side.
They have lost there way and don't care about there long time regulars and it's hit and miss if there open at dinner time
Pokeno bacon diner is the best breakfast stop on State highway one. Generous portions of bacon and a killer bacon sandwich with eggs and cheese.
I have been stopping here for brekkie for over 10 years and the quality is constant, every time.
I think the condiments can improve, hence the four stars. Highly recommended.
Great food, great service,
Portions are not for the faint hearted!
Very good experience
Customer service is poor, waiting 15min for 1 milkshake. Food is average and not worth the price
This place is THE place to stop on the way to or from when passing, and you are hungry. Meals are super value not because of the generous portions, but because of the very yummy bacon. Full of flavour, cooked to perfection and served by a group of wonderful friendly local woman.
Of course if you are passing and you are not hungry then purchase some bacon from their fridge to take with you!
