Shire's Rest Cafe reviews
69Very nice open area, plenty of seating areas in the sun or shade. Love the scenery. The spinach and feta roll tasted as expected, was nice. The coffee didn't have enough caramel syrup however. Breakfast looked great!
Average cafe. Nice three cheese pizza though our one was little too salty.
Service was nice too.friendly and courteous.
Cafe needed to be more hobbitonised. Would be 100% if it had the same charm as the Green Dragon.
Great service. Crowds come and go with the tours. Has some good gluten free options on the menu.
We had ice cream here after our visit to Hobbiton. Very clean and tidy considering the number of people who visit every day. Cleanest toilets I’ve seen for a long time
Food and coffee available, although choices were limited and prices were fairly steep. But its a great spot to wait at before your tour begins. They have hot meals and drinks available for takeaway too.
A magical place not just for Hobbit or LOTR fans. It's very well run, perfectly presented the staff engage so well with visitors, moving masses of people around smoothly without it feeling contrived or touristy - more like you've visited the Shire
One of the pick-up point for the hobbits guided tour. Didn't try their coffee or food but prices seems a bit on the expensive side.
Its super amazing ~
I wanna go back there again sometimes in the future as once is never enough
Worst chicken wrap I’ve ever had in my life. Costly but to be expected at such a major tourist attraction.
Visited the cafe before our Hobbiton tour. Coffee was decent, sandwiches were also ok.
However, we had to eat them cold as they could not or did not want to warm them up.
Expensive and dull. The hobbits would be embarrassed.
Bought a soup of the day, garlic bread, a kids' snack and an apple juice for $28. The soup was a very ho-hum potato and leek soup, while the garlic bread was pale and underdone, with not enough garlic flavor. The kids' snack had nice fries, but the hot dog was really low grade. Don't eat here; eat at any of the many wonderful eateries anywhere else.
Really disappointed by the quality of the food here. We had a potato and leek soup, garlic bread and a kids' meal of hot dog and fries. Everything tasted bland and boring (think the worst quality processed food) and the hot dog tasted more like chemicals than meat.
Lovely ambience and decent service. I just would eat here.: (
We had the chicken and leek pie, second breakfast, and elevenises. It can take a while for the meals to come out. Price was decent, didn't seem overpriced despite it being a huge tourist attraction. Food was good overall
Beautiful place and anyone can access even if you're not doing the tour. Great giftshop downstairs as well. Food options for vegans could be better but they fixed us lovely meals when requested.
Delicious Second Breakfast after a tour of the Hobbiton Set.
Fast service, friendly/professional staff.
It’s the spot to get to if you’re going to the Hobbiton movie set tour. Can’t be missed if you’re driving up here. There’s the ticket counter, toilets, cafe and of course, the queues to begin your tour. A good stop for a quick bite before or after tour tour.
I clearly said "May I have two battered fish" but when the food got delivered, THEY ONLY GAVE US ONE! It was too late to order one more as it takes FOREVER to cook ONE frozen fish because our tour was about to start. Terrible experience. If you can make food by yourselves, bring it there because it was also overpriced.
The food is pretty good for a tourist stop. The hot food stops around 3 but they have premade food for the duration. Great views of the surrounding country from the front porch, and it's covered in case of rain.
Customer service is lacking, waiting time for the premade wrap is 40 minutes, lots of new staff at the cafe and they don’t know how to treat agents
This cafe was really cute. Very smart and necessary to have a cafe while we wait for our Hobbiton Tours. I only had a coffee while waiting but the menu looked absolutely delicious. If I had the time I would have stayed and tried out something on the menu. I’m glad they keep with the LOTR theme and named some of their menu items after the franchise. The atmosphere is also really nice with a patio looking out over the farm.
