Taupo Thai Restaurant & Bar

Didn't open on time, as it says at 1130.
Waited for about 10mins but nobody spotted inside, no light on

We visited the restaurant on our way from Auckland to Turangi and stopped by to parcel dinner from Taupo. We waited for over an hour for the food and wonder how and why the waiter didn't get the food out to us, as we were waiting at the table. Apparently we found the food was sitting at the counter waiting for us lol - OMG just imagine the feeling. The waiters were not welcoming as well, she didn't understand the order even after pointing out the items on the menu. Then came the experience with the food after reaching Turangi which was not even close to any Thai flavour.didnt expect the quality of the food to be so bad. The restaurant is nicely setup and at a prime location. With just two people serving I think they can do a better job if only they were apologetic or even just for courtesy sake say "sorry" which could change the experience not only for us but for anyone. I feel I miss the welcoming nature that New Zealand had back in the years.

So disappointing I placed a order online at 6.45pm got a text at like 7.18pm over half and hour later confirming my order for that 33 min wait I called and called and no answer so I drove there to only be told to wait again which was another 40 mins to be given food that was so disappointing in size the container size is pretty much half a size of other takeaway containers you would get price is just crazy for the size nearly 30 dollars for that little container.

If you are European it would possibly suit your taste, but for myself and my Thai wife and her family it didn't cut the mustard, truthfully it's not genuine Thai quisine

The food was good but we got a surprise when the prices on their website did not match that when I went to pay for my takeaway. Also rice is not included in the curries but no mention of this. They did not seem to care or honour these prices. I won’t be back as it seems rather expensive compared to others

We stopped in for lunch on our way back to Auckland. Absolutely amazing. Lunch special was $15.99. Very tasty and the portion sizes were spot on. This will be our new favorite everytime we're in Taupo.
Beautiful atmosphere and fast friendly service.

This place ruined our evening. Kids ended up crying due to the 1.5hrs of waiting and we got there around 6.30pm. Waited 20m for the menu then 30m for drinks then 45m for our food to arrive. Slow service and not even authentic Thai. Worst Thai food experience, don’t waste your time and money here!

I had a great time eating delicious food at your restaurant.waitresses were committed to great service and were very friendly. The atmosphere was awesome. Most importantly, every food we ordered tasted great!

Excellent service, very quick and friendly service. Great atmosphere and food was delicious. Highly recommended. Only negative was it was quite warm inside. Need more fans going.

Leider bin ich vom Essen heute enttäuscht; das Essen ist per se nicht authentisch, es fehlen jegliche Thai Gemüse, stattdessen wurden lokale Sorten verwendet. Das ginge gerade noch, solange der Geschmack des Curries authentisch ist. Dem ist leider nicht so.das Curry war dominiert von Fischsauce und Zucker, die Farbe blass und gelb-grau statt rot; Paneng-Currypaste fehlte meines Erachtens, konnte ich zu wenig feststellen. Food was nice except for an overload of ginger in mine, and whole green peppercorns that whilst gave a nice flavour to the dish, needed picking out of my husband's.

Well presented and great tasting dishes. Super friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of parking. Great family dinning experience.

I asked if there’s any suggestion. The response I got: No suggestion, because I’m too busy.

To be honest the food is not bad but the service is terrible, I had to wait for more than 1 hour for them to take my order and go to the cashier to do it.

Took near an hour just to order the food then half hour to get the food. Food was OK, nothing outstanding. Chicken satay skewers very tough. Not worth the exorbitant prices.

Food was tasty once it finally arrived. Be prepared to wait. We waited an hour and looking through the reviews, this is not unusual. No communication from wait staff about the delays. Not sure I would return.

We dined here June 20th, we live in Auckland and honestly this was the best Pad thai I have ever had hands down. My partner had the Red Lamb curry and he loved his too. Thankyou to the lovely ladies who served us the kai was delicious and service great too. I highly recommend and will be back for sure

Green curry was ok not amazing but ok, money bags fill with mostly veg not the same as Thai restaurants in Auckland or Thailand.
Even the sweet chilly sauce seemed a bit flat.

Communication all time low. Ordered online no information about what time the order would be ready to be picked up, so called them and we were told 20 minutes. Arrived 20 minutes later to be told it was another 15-20 minutes.
