The Brantry Restaurant

Celebration dinner for friends from Sydney. As always, the service was professional and the food divine. Baxter’s wine and food knowledge are a huge asset to the Brantry. Consistently high standards make this place the obvious choice to take guests.

Had a table of 5 come to Brantry for dinner. They offered for us to sit in the "cellar" which was a very cool atmosphere and gave a private dining vibe. The food is part of a set menu, one cost for entree, main, & dessert, however they also had a special main for an addition cost.
Our group tried most things on the menu all together and no-one had a bad item.
The service was quick and the wait staff were lovely.
All around a great experience definitely a key recommendation for a nice dinner in Taupo.

A Truly Phenomenal and Unparalleled experience. When we arrived we were greeted by the wait staff, this was truly a memorable moment, the young male wait staff was so inviting professional and classy when opening the doors to leading us to our table, his friendliness and amazing service was impeccable. He was truly fantastic. The drinks list is fantastic amd their 20yr port was divine. The courses are beautifully crafted. The entrees were mouthwatering, the mains were succulent and delectable and the dessert was smooth and simply out of this world.and also the sharing side of broccoli WOW just WOW.each dish was made with so much love and perfection.and the chef placed a candle on the dessert dish as it was my partners bday so that was truly special. We left this beautiful establishment full of excitement and happiness that we raved all night about the flavors and service and every experience. Truly, you MUST visit this gorgeous place.the prices however were mindblowing, for such elegance i expected the price to be more but its truly soooo affordable and low priced. Classy, Sophisticated yet homely and full of character and just pure joy.loved loved loved The Bantry we are so coming back. Our compliments to the entire team.

This restaurant is exceptional. The surroundings are super cosy. Like you are in an old fancy pub in England. Our group was made to feel very welcome.drinks by the fire before being shown to our gorgeous cellar room. The food was delicious. Everything was cooked exceptionally well with very balanced flavours. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to go somewhere special.

How can it be that this Michelin-stars deserving restaurant is not in Cuisine’s top 50 (let alone the top 250). Something is wrong with this picture. The food is exquisite, the staff are consummate professionals and move about the restaurant in a blur. The food and wine are delivered without delay even on a busy day and the atmosphere is hard to beat. It has a warm cozy glow with gorgeous New Zealand artwork adorning the walls. I’m cancelling my @Cuisine magazine subscription and booking another night here.

Wonderful food, a shame about the grumpy and flustered service - really dampened the evening.

Always make sure we have a Brantry session when in Taupo. Top notch. A place we compare others to.

Beautiful three tier Dégustation where you can choose one of each course. Will definitely come again for the food and enjoyable cocktails. Friendly and patient waiting staff awaited us and our food came out rather quickly. The coconut prawns are a must order.

Superb wedding catering on Friday, beautifully cooked fillet steak for 100 guest! Amazing, delicious side dishes, fabulous staff.

Fantastic three course meal. Very friendly welcome and great service, we loved it and would definitely return.

We’ve come here with a big work group, they have been kind, accommodating and it’s been nothing but fun! They haven’t denied any requests or made us feel unwelcome! Best service, drinks and food.will be back!

All I can say is 'Wow'. We have been twice before and already have an expectation of the place, however on arrival the kind gentleman acknowledged my dress and how I looked. The service at the table by two servers was exceptional. One server was quite young but very attentive and professional. And the food as always was devine and worth every cent.

The food was pretty good - NZ cuisine. The vegetarian starter was a bit simple though. Take a note that their menu doesn’t have everything on it and they also additionally have a vegetarian dish of the day (no idea why they don’t mention it). They only have set menus at around $90 that include a starter, a main and a dessert.

We love coming here for dinner. The staff are always super friendly and helpful and the food is always delicious and its a well priced menu.

Fantastic food and friendly, happy service. The aubergine side is amazing and the crème brûlée is excellent.

Out of 4 people dining, 2 had a bad experience. Of the 2,1 has a dairy allergy which was specifically stated at the time of booking, and confirmed by the restaurant on arrival. Firstly, the service was exceptional. However, once meals were served the food was well below the establishments expected standard. It is totally unacceptable that a restaurant, that is aware of someone who has an allergy serves food that could have caused serious harm. Besides the cold food, overcooked food was also served.
The restaurant also knew that one of the 4 was celebrating a birthday and find this extremely disappointing that his steak was overcooked twice. Personally would not recommend this restaurant, with the choice of other establishments available.
We do appreciate the waiting staff tried to compensate, however, it was a totally disappointing night overall.
I have now edited this review as during the night the person in out party who had allergies, had a reaction. I would defiantly not recommend this place if you have an allergy. Well great that the owner went to so much trouble to get to the bottom of this issue well done that you did this not many would do it.

From the gate via a gorgeous landscaped entry with garden art we felt welcomed and excited about the evening to come and we’re not disappointed. Super menu options, great idea to limit choices and serve the food they do superbly. Seasonal options, vegetarian options soooo tasty! Loved the duck fat potatoes and the green vege option with asparagus delish! Even the non dessert person ate and relished his dessert! Some innovative cocktails and great wine list too! We’ve been intending to come to Brantry for some time I’m intending it’ll now become a regular as we pass through Taupo.

Food was great and we were so well looked after.by all the staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our night celebrating an 80th birthday
