The Dam Cafe reviews
58Very friendly staff. Rang in order and it was ready when we arrived. Card system builds stamps towards a free coffee. (If they don't loose your card on 3rd restart from 2 away to end). Best carrot cake I've tasted a little pricey but sooooo yummy. In all a great little cafe for a break or lunch stop.
Great stop on the way through to the King Country. Good coffee, food and service, well recommended.
I can vouch for the chicken salad sandwich and the hot chocolate. I've driven past this little cafe many times without thinking to stop. I won't make that mistake next time I'm passing this way.
Such a great spot to stop! Yummy toasties and a small playground out the back for the kids.
Coffee was really good. The pies we had were made with quality ingredients. The service was warm and friendly. Would recommend as a good place to stop and have a break if you're travelling.
Good road side stop. Great coffee and variety of food on offer. Nice home baking. Clean loos. Friendly staff.
Great pit stop on the way up to Fieldays. Pies are fab, bacon buttie was good and the bacon and egg McMuffin was brilliant! Oh and you have to try the blueberry muffins!
Under new ownership now which is great and the place deserves a visit for a coffee and a snack while travelling. Has two nice clean toilets and the staff are responsive and courteous. Coffee was quite good for a place in the middle of the main town centres.
Some of the best coffee and food we have had. Great sandwiches with heaps of filling - very generous actually.
Great stop for breakfast, coffee and or lunch, little bit noisy with the traffic but easily acceptable, not a lot elsewhere close when driving around the western side of Lake Taupo, generally come down this side from North or South by passes all the towns and so much less traffic. The food and drinks have always been very good.
Stopped here for lunch today on our way back through. Found the lady we thought was the owner rude and short to deal with, few options to choose from, very unfriendly experience. Next time we are driving past will drive on by.
Have tagged it the Dam confused cafe as we got wrong order which confused the h out of the woman!
Great choice and adapted menu to suit my dietary needs.
Very friendly service and the crafts and local product for sale was an added bonus
The food was beautiful and definitely worth the price. The sandwiches are actually filled all the way through with filling and not just at the front of the sandwich like most places. And the carrot cake was so moist and yummy. Was more than happy
Average! Food is ok but very plain. I couldn't finish my coffee, only took a couple of sips as it was too bitter.
Sower friendly. I was late for lunch, but still had a really tasty cheese and onion toast and flat white delivered with a smile and chat.
Awesome stop 1/2 way to anywhere
Good spot for coffee and a bite to eat if you are travelling down the western side of the lake. Standard fare, coffee good.
A very tidy little cafe just along from Whakamaru dam, at a major highway intersection. Only suitable place in the area. Light meals and cabinet foods plus barista coffees etc. Happy staff. Great.
Not open and won't be for a couple of weeks over the whole holiday period when it would have been great to stop there for a coffee and linch
