The Original Thai Restaurant

Our waitress was the lady owner of the restaurant and she seemed to be in a rush while serving us, she wanted to be nice but we could feel her grumpyness. The food wasn't worth the value for what we paid. No good thai flavours.

Just went for dinner at this place and we were shocked to receive a bill of $110 (2 adults & 1 child) with some of the stuff charged at a ridiculous price? In Auckland, we have been to a lot of Thai Restaurant and never see them charge anything for a small bowl of fresh chilli in fish source which is complimentary, first lot of rice comes free with main meal.but here all rice given were charged, they charged $3.50 for a small bowl of chilli in source, Glass of red $13.50.normally $8 or a bottle red wine costs arnd $10 to $15.in Auckland.
Very expensive food and drinks here, than in the Hotel we stayed in.we went in good faith to support this local business, but now we not going there anymore. Even food was not up to standard for value as in Auckland! I know may be all restaurants are not the same, still some of the stuff charged were not fare compared to all other Thai Restaurant?

I always go for a Coconut Red Duck Curry with Lychee when i eat Thai. First time I went to this place and I really liked it. Lady was lovely.it came out looking lovely. Even a candle underneath to keep warm (which I thought was a great idea.

Only thing is when I asked for Mild, it did come super mild. So just bear that in mind.when trying to gauge how hot something will be (I am a woose when it comes to heat).

A late dinner. Arrived at 9pm, still open, and the only ones dining. Very nice restaurant, lovely service and the meal was delish!

An Exquisite Dining Experience!

We enjoyed the most delicious Green Chicken Curry and Satay Beef, Sizzling on a hot plate. The service was absolutely lovely and the dessert to die for. The coconut banana fritters and ice cream were exquisite and the Chocolate Fruit Fondue amazing! We asked for a bowl of the caramel sauce too and this was gorgeous with banana and apple! Just like toffee apples. Would highly recommend these delectable dishes in such a pleasant restaurant.

We were quickly seated, delivered our drinks and our order taken. The restaurant was clean, tidy and well presented with authentic thai decorations.

The food arrived and looked delicious. My mussaman had a little candle under it to keep it hot and it fancy dish. The boat curry also turned up in a nice boat shaped dish.

All the meals were absolutely delicious.

Service was great.

We would definitely go back.

My Family And I Always Comes To Original Thai When We Don't Know What To Eat. We Have Made Lovely Connections With The People Who Work There. I Would Recommend Coming Here For Any Occasion. Food Is Amazing, Lovely Service!

The male attendee was rude. Wasnt friendly to talk too. Mentioned issue with fish cakes but completely ignored me and even had to tell him to mention this to the chef. He definitely shouldn't be working in the hospitality business.
He's bad for business. Fish cake was tough and rubbery. Almost as if it had just come out of the microwave. Don't intend to go back there again.

Great food and atmosphere, have eaten there for years and always been treated well and enjoyed the wide variety of dishes available

We ordered from here by default, we were trying to order from Viet Thai Village however they were closed and the phone diverted to The Original Thai. While ordering over the phone my husband specifically mentioned we had an entertainment guide voucher and no comments were made about not being able to use it, at this point being from out of town we didn’t know our call had been diverted and we were dealing with a different restaurant.

When we arrived to collect the food the lady refused to allow us to use our discount, however after I complained I was offered $2 off.

Food was decidedly average. Service poor. Will never go back.

Not often that I review something low, but this restaurant charges meals $25-$35 dollars but are half the size of a $20 meal. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty, but sadly it was the first and last time my partner and I will be going along.

Beautiful meal there last night! Organic wine available too - which was a special treat! Highly recommend!

Nice flavours. Lovely food presentation. Friendly waitress. Came with kids on a Monday night and they all ate everything which is a good sign.

Over priced, food was sub par also. For 27.50 a dish one would expect a little more for what you pay and better quality food.

Drink, spring roll and ambience was good, food had a weird smell, couldn’t find much ingredients which were listed on the menu.

Came in very late on a Monday night, they were very happy to serve us.

Very friendly and good food

Thai food here is quite expensive. But besides that, the soup, the main dishes, and desserts are quite exquisite. We had a beef sizzler dish as well as some noodle dish and it was delicious. But the portions were not reflective of the size. One person could eat one platter easily. You wouldnt really consider sharing here unless you get more rice.

Poor quantity for the price. Soup was cold. On a long weekend night only one waitress was there serving all the takes as well as looking after takeaways and the counter. Food quality was pretty average. Surely not wish going again.

I must say that I was not blown away with the taste of the food, the sauce needed more flavour. At our table, some loved their dishes and others felt plain mediocrity. Evidently, not all dishes are created equal. However the presentation was consistently lavish, every dish at our table was beautiful. The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient.
