Two Birds Eatery reviews
73 2 Birds has forever been a ‘go to’ destination for us, a very looked forward to stop off whilst in Hamilton. Definitely one of our favourite spots. However, we visited on Friday after a long gap in-between our last visit due to lock downs etc & think it must have changed hands?
Normally an eco conscious & ambient place, now with plastic shrubs on the tables & mantle place. Even plastic shrubs hanging from the geometric light fittings? !
The music was a bit different too, ranging from the Greece Mega Mix to George Michael (I had to have a giggle at this!)
I can see the good efforts are still there, with the Pottery for the Planet merch & recycle station outside.
Ditch the unnecessary plastics & dodgy sounds & we’ll be back as always. (Oh & marinate your jackfruit on the loaded fries)
Use to love this place, it's now a disappointment on all levels.cleanliness, food and service. (Bar 1 lady worker who was sick of getting complaints) start doing what you use to do.
The food, the staff, the atmosphere, everything at two birds was so lovely. There are so many savoury and sweet vegan options we were spoilt for choice. The outside area is beautiful and there was live music which was an added bonus. We will definitely be back for the vegan loaded fries and vegan big breakfast!
Worse cafe ever, It’s extremely over priced we paid 71.50 for two breakfast meals that were so yuck. My partner and I both felt extremely sick afterwards.never going again
This place was great, ONCE UPON A TIME! Service lacks friendliness and slow. Avoid savoury muffins at all cost- half muffin stuck to the paper wrapper it comes in, dry and flavourless. Green smoothies is thin.
Eatery inside is dark. Outside seating area needs a tidy up. Display of food not attractive.
Staff polite.
Hidden gem cafe in Hamilton East. Lovey vibes in the outdoor courtyard! Serves tasty healthy food with yummy bowls. Both Arnold Bowl & Humble Bowl are my favourites. Also the Sticky Finger Pancakes and Smoothie Bowls.
Always my first choice when I visit Hamilton!
Way to go, Two Birds!
Tooooo late to serve coffee even though there was any other customers.
I’ve sent emails to the shop however I’ve never got reply.
This is the worst service ever.
One of my favourite places to meet with friends and family. Excellent selection of salads and also delicious gluten and refined sugar free desserts. Highly recommended
Lovely cafe with outdoor seating. Full wine & beer selection. We had the 2 vegan bowls. Very tasty with fresh ingredients. The Agria fries are also fabulous (vegan and non vegan loaded fries available or just with salt). Would definitely come back
Used to be one of our favourite cafes, but has unfortunately gone down hill. Breakfast took awhile to arrive and wasn't presented well and the kitchen forgot our toast which took 10 minutes to bring? Thankfully we got first table discounts, otherwise the price wouldn't have justified the food and service. Disappointed: (
PLEASE READ DO NOT EAT HERE. NOT WHAT IT WAS. Extremely disappointing. Bad service and bad food at unreasonable prices. I paid 62 dollars to have my whole day tainted. The owner changed in the last year or so causing a complete staff turnover. Anything that made this place good (which it was) is entirely gone.
This used to be a joint for interesting and clever meals with heaps of great dietary options, now the food is below mediocre, and their "vegan options" are less creative than your school cafeteria.
I got the "big vegan breakfast" and was served half of one unseasoned and un-sliced avocado, a lump off mushy unseasoned tofu, two plain slices of boring bread, maybe a tomato, and a sausage. A MEAT sausage. No sauces or seasoning, not even salt and pepper as far as I could tell. Unless this is the most realistic vegan sausage in history, this place's lack of integrity made me take a bite of animal flesh for the first time in a year. Looked, smelled, tasted, textured, and cooked like a regular pork sausage. I asked the chef about it and he just said "it's vegan" with no apology or even the beginning of friendliness. I didn't finish it.
My wife got loaded fries, with warning it was kumara instead of potato and again terribly seasoned, presented, and just unpleasant to eat.
We both felt sick afterwards.
ALSO their "bowls", probably their main menu item, were unavailable, and it took till like 5 minutes after I paid for the waitress to come and inform me.
We got our own glasses and water and had to collect salt and pepper from the neighboring table.
We also overheard others complaining while we were there. The staff were quiet and impolite.
Read the reviews and notice that almost all of the good ratings are from years ago, all the 1s are from 2020 onwards.
We arrived at 10am on Sunday morning and it wasn’t busy. My poached eggs on toast took 40 minutes to arrive without even a simple apology for the wait. To top it off the toast was rock hard as though it had been cooked 10 minutes earlier. I would not visit again.
Used to love this place where we stop by on our way home to Auckland so many times before. This time it was so disappointing food was greasy, lukewarm, presentation terrible like if everything was just throw in the plate. Plus the team is unpleasant. Sorry but we won't come again
Always craving for their wholesome and tasty food! Greenie is the best.
House made granola is also a must try!
This cafe had good reviews but was terrible. They didn’t check our vaccine passes which was a big red flag. Our food took 45+ mins even though there were only maybe 8 other people in the large cafe- and was horrible. Our bowls were missing ingredients and were ice cold- my sisters chicken was the driest chicken she has ever tasted. Everything was overpriced and even the egg was barely warm. Overall everything was just very bad. I never write reviews but I feel like I need to warn other people lol.
If you are after healthy food options in Hamilton this is the cafe for you. I always stop here when in Hamilton. Their cabinet food caters for various options and their menu choices are deliciously diverse. Leave room for one of the sweet treats!
Whilst I have sung the praises of 2 Birds before e.g. Good vegan food, nice premises etc, I have had two bad experiences on the trot. Both ordering the Humble Bowl. First one took AGES to get out (cafe not too busy) and was missing ingredients. Second (a few weeks later) I ordered the same dish and then they said they had no chickpeas or falafel, so I got a refund and left.
A good place generally, but man - they can do better than this.
An excellent example of a once great place committing business suicide.
Outrageous wait times even when not busy, staff who barely talk to you and average food.
Came in last Monday 29th September to find this place a disappointment customer service lacking, Bastia made coffee was terrible food was disgusting and overly priced. The only person on your staff who knew what they were doing was the waitress who placing my order in she was absolutely welcoming she was a short lady pakeha with dark hair in a bun wearing her bumble bee mask only on actually wearing one. Definitely deserve a pay rise.
