50-50 restaurant reviews
66Outstanding. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a degustation menu that is a cut above the rest. Recommend the wine match too.
Absolutely outstanding cuisine. Helen’s food is a feast for the eyes and an amazing party for the taste-buds. Exquisite experiences.
Dined here a fortnight ago and everything from the food, the setting, the staff was impeccable. Highly recommend! Thank you.
Having been to 50-50 not long after they opened we thought it was absolutely wonderful but haven't been able to go again as we've tried to just drop in a few times as we've driven past/through Paraparaumu as we don't love there, but they're always fully booked. Finnaly got a little bit of extra money and wanted to treat my partner to it so booked this time! Had the 9 course menu with the non alcoholic beverages match, and it was superb! Favourite of the savoury course had to be the wonderfully tender, flavoursome crispy lamb should, but the rest were fantastic! Favourite of the sweet courses was incredibly tough as the chocolate cake, and chestnut mousse were the most delectable different dishes! If you're able to spare the money and can book in advance, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
A hidden gem on the Kapiti Coast in our quiet little town 50/50 is our little secret shhhhh. From the outside it looks elegant but simple. On the inside you are greeted by a team of fabulous staff who's one main aim is for your to leave happy, and you do.
This is fine dining at its best, if NZ had Michelin stars Helen would be collecting them for sure. Dont let me scare you though if your thinking it sounds a bit flash for me, its not. It's all about the food, turn up in jeans or your best party frock what ever makes you happy/comfy. The only thing they worry about you wearing is a smile as you leave.
What a great experience! A happy and welcoming restaurant. The menu is fresh and exciting with an experienced chef and attentive, efficient staff. I have visited 50-50 a number of times over the last few years. Each time has been better than the last. Two weeks ago we had a stunning 9 course menu for our 40th anniversary. In fact, it was so good we came back for another great night - and we'll be back again very soon.
What an awesome experience. Food portions small but was full after 6 courses with precisely picked wines for each serving. Would return at drop if a hat. Was just fabulous, hidden gem.
This was hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The 9 course meals was spectacular! Thank you Helen for an experience I won’t forget!
An absolutely stunning dining experience. The six-course set menu had great portion sizes and we didn't walk out feeling bloated or hungry. Excellent wine pairings and an awesome night out all round.
If you liked Hillside Kitchen in Wellington, this place is arguably better.
Fabulous night for our group. Everyone had an amazing time, beautiful food & great selection of wines. We’ll all be back for sure!
An amazing experience. Staff go above and beyond. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you team.
Wonderful degustation menu experience. Every plate was perfectly executed. Thanks so much to Helen and her team. A great way to begin celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary!
Great food and excellent service. Have been before and it was equally as good.
Menu was well designed and showcased local New Zealand ingredients and flavours.
My partner and I went to 50-50 for the 9 course dégustation. Our anticipation was high as we had meant to go a few weeks earlier but unfortunately the staff had COVID and so our booking was postponed. The experience was definitely worth the wait. We thoroughly enjoyed every course and entire experience of dining at 50-50 - We have done degustations at many restaurants in NZ and abroad and 50-50 is one of our favourites so far.
At the end we were not left feeling hungry but weren’t uncomfortably full either - meaning the amount of food was just right.
We can’t wait to make it in to dine at 50-50 again when we can.
TIP: If you’re not too full at the end of the meal I highly recommend the Lavender and Coconut Hot Chocolate.
Helen dishes up an experience that ur taste buds will never forget, skillfully crafted dishes with wine to match.left with a big smile, can't wait til next time.
Probably the best dining experience I have ever enjoyed here in New Zealand.
Absolutely amazing in every way. The food, the wine and especially the Chef and her Team. We will definitely go again and again.
Not really know what’s going on this place. Heard lots of good comments from friends. Good reviews from several magazines. However that was a huge disappointment. If it classified as a fine dining restaurant, I would expect better on everything. They only supply one red damp towel for whole service instead of napkin or serviette. I don’t think it is hygiene enough. There was only one type of wine glass for matched wine and it is a heavy glass that means the glass is cheap. Only one front house to run 8 tables at same time even chef did help a bit but that was still too much. Have a proper 9 courses dinner I would like to have more introductions from the food and the place or the background of chefs. I would say to have an experience not just a rush service. It is a shame to have a decent wine match menu but only the whites were newly opened and the reds were a bit stale. The place was busy but as the standard I expect the food serving speed should be balanced. The waiting time between the courses were huge different. If the food was the only reason for me to visit, I would say it was a bit boring. I was attracted by a couple of interesting items from the menu. For example, yuzu jam mixed with perfectly cooked sushi rice. Creamed caper and raisin purée with the cauliflower soup. Other than that you don’t get the punch flavors from the small portion food.
We dined with friends and had a 6 course meal with wine matching. Each course was superb and the wine with that was matched with was a great compliment to the food. Each dish was more amazing than the last. The front of house person was amazing and kept everyone fully informed with what each course was but also was attentive when asked for something extra.
Great value for money. Would highly recommend. It is so amazing to be able to say we have such a wonderful restaurant here in Paraparaumu.
This restaurant is phenomenal! 50-50? More like 50+50 and do you know what that is? It’s! This restraunt is 100% 50% delicious and 50YUMMY AFFFFF.love it here to recommend.
Truly First Class cuisine with service to match. Congratulations to all the 50-50 team for a 100% experience
