Cable Top Eatery reviews
89These guys where lovely. We arrived just after 8 and the cafe was quiet but the staff where super friendly. It was a bit cold outside (from an Aussie standard) and it was warm and cosy inside. Coffee and hot chocolate where yummy a d a good size. We just had the toast for breaky and it was huge and jam was delicious. Toilets where also available and where clean and had soap. We would definitely recommend dropping in even just for a coffee, it's a nice way to relax with a view in Wellington.
Excellent place, coffee is of a super high standard, menu food & counter food options are plentiful and diverse. The staff were attentive and knew the menu options inside out, the place was super clean and what a great view of the city. I will be visiting again next time I’m in the city
My first visit to a cafe in New Zealand. Ordered a delicious chocolate milkshake which was delivered to my table outside by a friendly and polite waitress.
Great service and great atmosphere. Wholeheartedly recommend as a destination for the great view of Wellington.
Thanks Cable Top Eatery for the wonderful experience.
If you feel like taking your tongue a trip to the Sahara then grab the eggs on toast here! Only a little cheaper than a Flight center deal. To really allow you to experience the feeling of chewing sand for breakfast. They bestow two, 'Eggs'? Its what id say is their 'coup de grâce' to this one way ticket to dry town. BYO butter or fill up a drink bottle because this is gonna be.

2 stars. Cant complain about welly on a good day.
Had a great beer and view with friendly helpful staff at the top of the cable car. Make sure to check their operating hours as we were just in time.
Absolutely stunning views over Wellington with just as stunning staff. The cafe has a relaxed vibe unless you catch it on a cruise ship day with hundreds of tourists taking the cable car up and bee lining it for the cafe, although you will probably find some chatty tourists on days like such.
I can only comment on the coffee & atmosphere here (not tried the food- it is a bit pricey). Great views but can get pretty loud in busy times & Coffee is generally pretty decent (had both long black or flat whites here). If you work locally they even give you a small discount: D
We had coffee and a couple of snacks.
Coffee was great. They also have a good selection of dairy free / vegan sweet snacks.
$15 and a 15 minute wait for two takeaway coffees. Then made us iced coffees instead of hot and said “yeah but they’re more expensive so youre getting more” LOL what a joke!
It’s like a must do thing when in Wellington so it’s good for an experience, the ride is very small though (it is a way of commute for many people). The little museum is free and totally recommended which preserves the early cable car.
Sooo good! Awesome service! Very helpful friendly staff! Great views! Tables were cleared fast so that’s always good to see, where alot of places don’t seem to care.leave you sitting with a table full of dirty dishes! Big ups to you guys!
Great venue and the food was great. Plus what a view on a beautiful Wellington day. Cable car ride was pretty good also. Great service also
Insanely expensive (even factoring the public holiday surcharge) but excellent coffee and decent service with the best view in Wellington
Have been all over New Zealand from Auckland to Milford Sound and have yet to find a milkshake as good as the one at the Cable Car Kiosk. The guy who served me filled up almost half the cup with ice cream, what a bloody legend.
Good food.disorganised delivery.
Crowded.thats understandable.but no menus available on the tables. Everyone has to crowd into the small space around the cash register along with everyone ordering to see a blackboard menu. Needs to improve.
Couldn't understand the ticket operator as she was eating and talking at the same time poor customer service
Top view with drinks, cakes.
Do not forget to take a photo with the stunny view next to exit of cable car and the stairs. Than jump in for a coffee with some delicious cakes.
Location - it is well settled on the cable car top and the view is fantastic.
Afghan Cookie - it tastes superb with crunchy yummy cereal bites in it. Chocolate favored food is always my favorite.
Flat White and Long Black - I have to say as a cafe it did disappoint me with its coffee quality. Plain and boring tastes.
Service - staff is friendly.
Worst excuse for a salad I've ever encountered. Pile of spinach, 3 slices of red onion and a few pieces of tomato and pumpkin. The feta was barely visible. For around $20 this was a joke.
Pretty average experience today. Very limited choice of food. Ordered soup which I was told was pumpkin, Kumara & coconut, when it arrived it was like a continental cup of soup ina flavor I couldn’t describe. $8 for a very average milkshake is a bit of a rip off compared to what you can get elsewhere for way less. Wouldn’t recommend or go back.
