Coene's Bar & Eatery reviews
54Had a fantastic experience at Coenes from beginning to end! Amazing friendly service, great atmosphere with great tunes and mouth watering food. Money well spent, highly recommend. And you have to try the lamb rack, you will not be disappointed!
Pretty nice location for a bite to eat or a drink. Dont bother with the truffle mac n cheese. Completely flavourless. The salads and steak was good though
Really bad experience there. We went to get a brunch at 3: 30pm, they welcomed us, a girl told us where to sit, gave us the menu, say that it's ok for brunch. And then nothing almost half an hour before someone came to take our order. So they take our order at 4: 10pm and told us "sorry unfortunately the brunch is until 4pm", the girl who welcomed us just finished her work and leave.
We explained the situation but the cook say no it's not possible. We were reaĺly disapppointed and get somewhere else.
Nice spot for a drink. Edit: Went there for brunch on another day and sadly it was terrible. Every element of the eggs Benny was bad, bacon was pretty burnt, eggs were solid, hashbrown was completely fried through. Otherwise the place is nice, and bright and very warm which is great for a drink in winter
Absolutely fantastic! What more can I say. Coene's has such a warm welcoming atmosphere and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The menu has a good verity and is reasonably priced. Complements to the chef for smashing it in the kitchen! The food was to die for I can highly recommend Coene's for a great meal and a good night out. We will definitely be back.
Coenes is a favourite. Its bright and welcoming and staff are always friendly.
Menu options are good, from snacks to meals.
And.cant beat the view.
Coenes is a Restaurant which overlooks Oriental Bay and we were happy to get a lovely evening weather wise.
We had our niece with us and we went there during the week to fit in with her schedule, on a Wednesday night.
There were quite a few people in the Restaurant when we arrived.
We were fortunate to get a table by the window, so we had a lovely view of the sea yacht’s etc.
This is a place where you can have reasonably priced dishes or to push
the boat out they become a more pricey.
Hubby and I have on special occasions inclusive of wine etc spent $120.00.
Was easy to do a we had been given a voucher for $100.00
My husband and I ordered Entree’s which we shared with our niece.
One dish was a very ample plate of Mussels in gorgeous broth which we all partook of, after polishing off the Mussels.
The second dish was Scallops in a lovely sauce with Ciabatta toast.
Very much enjoyed by all again.
My Main was seared Tuna.
Hubby’s was a Lamb Burger.
Our nieces was Seafood Chowder.
We all tasted each of the dishes.
We enjoyed them all.
For desserts our niece and I had Whitaker’s lovely chocolate mousse dessert.
I shared mine with Hubby as we were both quite full.
Food was great, service very quick
Staff friendly and helpful.
I liked it, I had the muscles! They were so good and love how they do their gin and tonic. On the cauliflower I thought they had a bit much sauce but very good, good view and good place.
Coene's is beautifully located in Oriental Bay. The food is excellent and well priced. Staff are pleasant and efficient. The views (on a good day) are spectacular and excellent even when it's not! They can cater for large groups. An excellent choice for whichever meal or snack takes your fancy.
They were really busy and we still got great service. They have a good kids menu, complete with puzzles and colouring pencils. We loved it.
I've been here so often now! Their gin selection is fantastic and the ability to make your own makes for a different drink every time
Lovely venue and great views just wish they had more vegetarian options and I don't feel they update their menu often at all
Made us wait over 5 minutes at the front despite many staff looking at us (then shyly looking away, as if to hope that we would become some other staff's problem) only to tell us finally that they weren't serving food at 8pm (really?) anymore. We saw the same wait staff taking fresh orders from tables as we were waiting, and we probably could have made the deadline if they didn't take so long to get to us.
Upon reading other 1 star reviews, wait staff seems to be a real problem here, so I wouldn't bother.
Fantastic location and view. We went on a Sunday morning for brunch. Food and service was excellent. Try the flavoured latte's!
