Counter Culture Board Game Cafe & Bar reviews
33So great! Incredible games library & a small but perfectly formed beer list - plus Good Fortune coffee. Be prepared to settle in for the long haul.
Awesome night! The amount of games was overwhelming in an excited way! Good pizza, curly and strait chips! Yum coconut milk hot choclates too Loved the rolled up nana blankets & hot water bottles! Loved the atmosphere! Can hear others laughter etc from their games! Was awesome highly highly recommend! A highlight was seeing a father and son (7-10yrs) playing next to us!
Best place in Wellington (if you like board games.) Friendly and knowledgeable staff who give great suggestions and tips for playing. Great way to try a game before you buy, or spend a wet afternoon playing the classics. Huge range of games. Food and drinks are icing on the cake!
Always live a visit to Counter culture. Great selection of games and friendly staff ensure a fun time. Beer is good and food is good too.
Spent most of time working out the rules of a game we had never played before, but lots of fun. Food good and nice tap beers. Prices ok
Went here 3 times this month and were such a blast! Huge range of board games available from quick fun cards to 1 1/2 hours long game.
$10 each person if you choose to only play board games or $5 each person if you get the food.
Comes to the place with small expectation but ends up having a lot of fun. Clerk is very helpful and kind.
Awesome range of games, delicious food, a lovey atmosphere, and you couldn’t ask for better staff - we got some awesome recommendations, tutorials and had an awesome time!
Wow, what an amazing place. So many board games to choose from, and if you're not sure on what to play the staff have a great knowledge to recommend something that will have you entertained. 5/5, would board game here again
A young blonde haired man was very rude and arrogant, we asked for more drinks and he very rudely answered us. Our children went to look at the dessert menu, but as of covid he sent them back, in a rude manner. Blue haired lady/man/they/them/queen was great. We then asked for dessert menus, but no one had notifed us the kitchen was closed, which was slightly annoying. As well as that, my daughter ordered the chicken burger, no spice or blue cheese. The burger was swapped out twice, and even on the third burger, it was still incorrect. Quirky cafe with average-good food and unhelpful staff, but curly fries were exceptional.
Arrogant, rude and unhelpful for first timers. We bought our son here for his birthday with a friend and we’re shocked with the experience. We clearly weren’t the intended customer for this.
Great food and beer though and pretty fast delivery. Still a pretty good experience if you can get past the staff.
Strangest Welly burger ever (but good) and a game of Magic Maze! We had a great date night at this spot.
We were really looking forward to going here but there wasn't enough room for our group of 7. Not a large place looks very cosy.
Always an amazing time here. All the food is top notch, and you get to play any board game you want! Great for trying out games you're curious about and for meeting other geeks
Love this place so much. Staff always friendly, great vibe, awesome selection of games, good beer and food. Highly recommend.
Fabulous place to spend an afternoon or evening. Vast selection of games with something available for anyone! Good selection of drinks on tap, and a very reasonable price for a three hour slot. They also have a small selection of their games for sale should you be very tempted by any of them.
Absolutely brilliant idea. Really cool experience trying out some boardgames that have interested me for a while. Food was yummy too! Will definitely be back when next in the area!
A very fun, cosy cafe/restaurant where you can play a wide variety of Board games while you Eat and Drink some excellent food and craft beers/ciders/non-alcoholics. Their Mac and Cheese is one of the best in Wellington!
Always great place to hang out and play some board games. All the servers are lovely and have great game knowledge so 100% recommend
