The restaurant feels very spacious and the renovation gives a touch of oriental atmosphere.

The food is traditional and it's good. Not too salty or oily. Overall it's great

Love coming to Grand Century, its my go to yum cha. I have always received a great service and great food. Dumplings are so delicious and the mango fish and coconut buns. Most favourite is prawn pancakes

Yumcha is made to order rather than food going around. Ordered 6 dishes. Food was mediocre and on the of pricer end and smaller portions compared to other yum cha in the city. Decor was nice, service was alright. Wouldn’t recommend for yumcha. Dinner may be better.

The best Yumcha in Wellington. Great hostess. My guests lived the food, service and Ambience. Clean and tidy. Value for money

Yum Char never fails us. I think it is the best in Wellington. And we had some excellent service there

First time here, yum cha was awesome, dumplings great, custard buns great, not a bad thing to say about the place. They even squeezed 11 of us in without any notice!

Only been for yum cha but have been often. Staff are very friendly and the food is easily the best in Wellington as far as yum cha goes. Service can be a little slow at times but I think the staff being friendly and accommodating makes up for it.

Went for yum cha. We were told we had an hour. 30 minutes in we had been served one dish. The restaurant was packed and they were happy to keep taking customers but didn't have enough waiting staff on. Yet the takeaway orders kept rolling out. Won't be going back

My family has been going to Grand Century for yum cha, most Sundays, for over 16 years. The food is divine. Every dumpling, bun, and deep-fried morsel has its own distinct, clean flavour. You can taste the fresh ingredients, with big chunks of prawn in the har gow (steamed prawn dumplings) and juicy bites of pork in the siu mai (steamed pork dumplings). The dumpling wrappers are consistently the right texture. They say that you can tell a good dim sum chef by the quality of their har gow wrappers, and Grand Century’s ones are beautifully transparent, expertly pleated, and steamed to perfection, as they hold together well rather than crumble apart in a thick mess when you pick them up from the bamboo steamer, which is what we often find with most other yum cha restaurants in Wellington. They also say you can tell a good Chinese restaurant by the number of Asians eating in it - and this couldn’t be any truer with Grand Century because we Asians know our good food! Over the years we’ve seen a really diverse range of ethnicities eating yum cha here, and it seems there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We always recommend Grand Century to anyone who asks after the best yum cha, though I have sometimes gotten a response that it’s the costliest in Wellington. I honestly think though that the pricing reflects the high quality of the food. You get good sized servings and the food is really flavourful. The atmosphere is great with the abundantly filled trays of food whisked from table to table, and the more traditional Chinese decor. We’ve also eaten here for dinners and it’s a go-to for special occasions, where we will order the Peking duck courses - so delicious. We still haven’t found a place that serves tastier food than Grand Century, in either Australia or New Zealand. When we lived overseas for 6 years, coming here whenever we were back for a visit was always a thing we did as a priority! Thanks Judy and team, for always satisfying our yum cha cravings. Our family wishes Grand Century continued success and prosperity.

Delicious! Came here for yum cha and dinner and both experience were very pleasant. The food here is delicious! Highly recommend the chicken feet and prawn dumplings with chili sauce for dim sum and for dinner the tofu w minced pork was amazing along with a snapper fish.

Limited choices and of average taste but with high prices. Tea are served without first asking what is customer's choice of tea.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced.

However, the only problem I had was that they charged us $2 per person for tea which we thought was complimentary.
The staff did not tell us that we have to pay $2 per person for tea and they brought it to us without us even ordering it, so we assumed it was free.

We would have not accepted it if we knew we had to pay $4 for tea.

Staffs were friendly and helpful. Food was good quality and delicious. In general this experience would be rated 5 stars if we weren't overcharged upon payment.

Grand Century as a reputation in Wellington of overcharging customers. I decided to give them a chance and went there for yumcha for the first time today. As the price of yumcha is recorded by dish, most people find it a hassle to verify the final bill. However, we kept an eye on the total cost due to their reputation. I'm glad we did so as upon paying, we were over charged.

Upon querying, the reason we got was that our most expensive dish was charged twice. To give them the benefit of the doubt, this may be an accident. However, with their reputation of overcharging as well as my personal experience, highly recommend double checking the bills before paying and query any price differences.

My husband and I dined here. Excellent customer service. Cocktails weren't really part of the menu. We asked our waitress for our desired cocktail and she gave exactly what we wanted. This particular waitress gave us a wonderful experience. She was chatty, fun and knew her job well. Will definitely dine again.

Probably will not come back here again for yum cha. The taro dumplings were sour and the chicken feet were just average and didn't come with peanuts. The prices are pretty much the same as Auckland but most Auckland places have siumai that comes with a prawn on top.
