Highwater Eatery reviews
71 First time at Highwater Eatery. The food, service at atmosphere was amazing. We shared the starters and sides but ordered our own mains. I ordered the hal serve of lamb. While it was delicious, tender and full of flavour I ended having to take some home due to the generous serving size.
This place is well worth a visit and was very busy for a Thursday evening
Absolutely incredible food and the service was impeccable. All the staff were so lovely and our server was so attentive - couldn't fault anything at all. Genuinely can't recommend this place enough.
The food was delicious love the little side of pickled cucumber but one third of the pork chops was fat which I didn’t like so much. The oysters were great super juicy with the bit of lemon juice and the butter was salty though it went perfectly great together. I usually don’t eat raw oysters. But this was an interesting try.
For me this is by far the best restaurant in Wellington. Amazing food, with impecable sourcing of ingredients and cooking, one of the best natural wine selections and friendly, helpful (and handsome) service. My only wish is they'd change up the menu a bit more frequently, as I'm there with friends and clients almost every week!
Very thoughtfully curated wine list with the best offerings from NZ & International. Loved the menu & sincere, kind and friendly staff. Interior is modern, fresh and has a cool vibe.
Modern restaurant with great food. Came early on a Tuesday night and it was almost full by the time we had our mains.
Most of us enjoyed the smaller dishes more than the mains, but that is not to say that the mains weren’t great. Highwater Eatery is our first stop at wellington (and nz) and needless to say it has set the bar high! Notified restaurant prior that we’re bringing a one year old, were allocated a good spot with ample space for the pram but no highchair. The little one grizzled here and there but the restaurant was loud enough to cover her cries.
Dined in last night for the second sitting and had the most lovely evening. The chef’s menu is one of the best we’ve tried in Wellington. Staff were attentive, with knowledge about every dish and wine selection too. The lamb was absolutely delicious! One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Wellington.
What a cracker of a place. We had the chefs menu across our guests and it was wonderful. Thanks to the fantastic staff and chef. All in all a wonderful evening.
Would I go back? Definitely.
Didn’t even make it to the table. Partner was waiting outside for friends and I went to see where the loo was and got hit with “only paying customers” I replied yes my partner and I are coming in just waiting on a friend to which he said “well we aren’t a public toilet”. I understand that yes but planned on coming in. I turned my heel and left. If that’s the customer service you have to offer then that’s disgusting. Not even a hi how are you? I mean has customer service really slipped that much? Do better highwater eatery.
Devine. I wish the Yuzu foam on the oysters came as a cocktail! Burratta & permission delicious. Every mouthful of the flounder was scrumptious! But I'd skip the cheese platter.
This was the best food I've had in Wellington! We had suuuuuuch an incredibly soft and juicy lamb dish the staff were all lovely and the vibe was great, really relaxed and cosy. We booked our next visit before we even left the restaurant cause we wanted to take other people here that much
I’ve been here a few times, several times I’ve booked for larger groups and we’ve opted for the chef’s menu, the others a la carte.
Brilliant food. I know we are cost sensitive these days, but it’s worth it especially when you remember all the costs they’re covering by the time it arrives at your table.
Beautifully made, innovative combinations and meal ideas, and presented perfectly. The shared menu approach isn’t my favourite - except when, like at Highwater, you want/need to try as much as you can.
The service is always on point; the staff are professional, efficient and knowledgeable - they also try to be unobtrusive.
This is a fantastic Wellington business that we love to support. They’re focused on sustainable practice, local sourcing and a great reflection of New Zealand foods.
Great drinks list too. It can be hard to get a table if you don’t book, that’s a good sign and like all good things we all want to go there. Love this place and love supporting a local business!
We went Highwater last Saturday for dinner. We asked to have all the dishes together and they all came out very fast! Every dish was very well balanced and delicious. Especially Wagyu was pefectly cooked and juicy. It was the best beef I ever had since came to Wellington (last 5years). Josper oven must do some magic! Wine matching for wagyu was very good as well. Service was okay but sometimes we felt too much interrupting.
We stumbled upon this place on a busy evening and were lucky to get a couple of seats at the bar. So glad we did! The food is seriously good, among the best dishes we had in New Zealand. Friendly excellent service and a great vibe overall
Very nice lunch, amazingly flavourful. I also appreciated the impeccable service despite being a party of one. The only minor criticism is the wine list by the glass. With all the great wines available in New Zealand it would be nice to have more local choice.
Food was amazing, every dish was flavourful and delicious and would eat them over again. Efficient and friendly service, great ambience. Highly recommended.
A foodie paradise.but prices are very high. You do have to pay for artisan food. Portion size small for big eaters.but the food is amazing.
Just yum. My second time here, this time for brunch. The babaganoush was fantastic. Great Bloody Mary too. Excellent service. Will absolutely be back.
Beautiful food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. We had the crudités, sourdough, flounder, chocolate and epoisses cheese - stand out flavours and presentation. Highly recommended.
Too expensive for what you get. Service average, but most of all WAY too much salt on everything.
