Mayfair Cafe & The BoileRoom reviews
66Food was okay, worst thing was sitting outside trying to eat with smokers smoking all around you, maybe the smoking area could be moved.
The best eggs benny I've had in NZ with a great coffee to wash it down. Atmosphere was chilled.
Food is good quality - for the price points and type of Cafe. Service is always friendly. Clean & tidy.
Absolutely loved it. First time I've been there in about 10 years and it's still as good as ever. Great food, great service, great price and very friendly staff. Keep it up. I'll be back for sure.
Didn't like the beef burger made with foccacia bread, it was the worse burger I've ever eaten.
This place is overpriced for what it is
I really don't like leaving bad reviews, but this was so bad I feel people should be warned.
I visited for breakfast with my grandkids, daughter and son in law.
The one star is because the staff were nice and the iced chocolate was tasty.
Unfortunately that's where it ended.
I ordered Eggs Benedict with salmon. There was only one egg - for $19ish I would have expected two - and it was basically raw. The white was all still liquid, and the yolk was spread across the plate mixed in with the hollandaise sauce. The salmon was cold and tasted nothing like "in-house smoked salmon". It was like an overcooked fillet that needed to be used up.
My daughter ordered a chicken burger and her bread was stale.
Lastly, I ordered kids meals of nuggets and chips. I had two five-year-olds and two three-year-olds, and only one of them ate their nuggets, none of them ate their chips. That speaks volumes to the quality. I tried one of the nuggets and I don't know what brand they use, but it tasted nothing like any chicken nugget I've ever eaten before.
I spent $78 and we ate about $10 worth - and only because the iced chocolates were nice.
I've seen other reviews saying the food is good, so perhaps we struck a bad day - but it was so bad, none of us will ever go back.
Wow, what an awesome little discovery walking in here was! Great decor, friendly and helpful staff and awesome coffee and food. We will be back,
Not able to get savory/vegitian muffen pr scone. My fault but suprised by cucumber in pinini.service good.
It's pretty good. Have been here a few times for brunch. There was one time it was a bit average but gave it a try again and it was good. I like the outdoor seating area too.
The food was nice until my daughter got a long black hair in her smashed avocado and only had half of it cause she was put off. When I told them they said sorry about that and tried to charge me full price. I won't be going back
Great coffee reasonable meals. Goodplace to relax and unwind. Stratosphere Kareoke Club on Thursday nights and other live entertainment offered twice a month. I love the Mayfair Cafe and regular patrions.
Need more staff on, service was not good. Took over 40mins to get food to table. Food was between average and good.
Food, coffee and service was all quite average. Their saving grace was that they gave us our wedges at a discounted price (after I asked) as they turned up as the wrong order and the fresh batch came 20mins after everyone had finished eating
Our favourite place for breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, we have moved out of Upper Hutt and may never visit again. Sad.
Food was ok, service from the young girl was good. We had a Groupon voucher for 79.80 and spent maybe $90 as we got 5 dishes and were then told we had to pay 31.20 as this didn't include drinks or the 5th meal. I tried to explain that the 4 most expensive meals should be counted as part of the voucher but the Indian guy behind the counter didn't understand and was quite rude. This place was good a few years back but not good now. I have spoken to quite a number of people and they agree
I visited Mayfair on Waitangi Day 2019 for lunch
It was busy and they appeared to be short staffed.
It took them 15mins to take my order. I know my meal would be a while but my drinks took 25mins to come out after I ordered. That is shocking. Pouring a wine from a bottle and making a simple cocktail is not difficult. Having a drink while you wait is a great way to pass the time until your meal arrives.
My meal arrived 40mins after ordering. Not adequate.
Had the mayfairs classic brekkie, wife had pesto crumbed salmon. Food was flavorful, good size portions and great service. Highly recommend will definitely go back!
Bad services.
The tomato sauce lid had harden over so when squeezed sauce the lid came off and it went all me and the table when mention the just took the bottle away in silence. No sorry or help clean up or offer a wet cloth as it went on my clothes.
No one spoke at all even when we paid.
Visited with family friends after buying one of their vouchers/coupon online. Very disappointing experience. The place was very run down and not well looked after. The food took a VERY long time to be served (nearly an hour) which is pretty bad for a cafe where everyone is on a tight schedule.
Came to visit with my brother last week. Very ugly decor and mood inside. Cabinet food selection very poor. Staff not the friendliest.
