Olive Grove Cafe & Gifts

Cute little cafe we stumbled into after not seeing anything for miles on our drive down to Wellington. I had elderberry tea and potato wedges and they were both great. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Lovely Lunch in the sun outside for Father's Day, Friendly and Helpful Staff, Yummy food, Definitely enjoy visiting here.

Nice people but the coffee is so expensive and so bad! Mine tasted like water this morning. Go somewhere else for coffee.

The atmosphere reminded me slightly of a 1980s cafe. The food was splendid with a good range of hot and cold food.

Extremely disappointed… the chips we got were undercooked and when told to the waitress we were told that this was due to the quality of potatoes in NZ … seriously that’s the excuse for not cooking them well! The chicKen in the Sammies was processed chicken and tasteless. When we complained we were told we could not get a refund as we had eaten some of it. The poppyseed cake was dry and tasteless and initially we were told we could not get a refund as we had not tasted it.so we did take a small forkful before that was refunded!
I mentioned that they had managed to disillusion me on Kiwi food and service after I had been coming home for 30 years to no complaints. The food in the cabinet looked dry and stale
Indeed a sad lunch experience. I’ve had food tastier all around NZ with no complaints or excuses on the produce.

Cafe was great. Had a cheese scone and coffee and both were excellent.

Called into Olive Grove Cafe around 1.15pm today and found an appealing array of options available for us to select from.
The operator was learning the system, but the staff member helping her was great, and our order was quickly processed.
My friend enjoyed the Lasagne, I had the bacon butty with a side hash brown, absolutely lovely served on a whole grain bread with relish and excellent coffee. The service was great and the staff cheerful.
It's definitely worth pulling off the expressway and entering the shopping centre. No problem with parking.

Really good location and setup. I enjoyed the cheese scones. My daughter wasn't as impressed with her pie.

This is a favorite with my dad. Great coffee, reasonable prices. Good food too, Usually go for breakfast, which has always been of consistently good quality. They have a full breakfast menu with other items as well. Counter options are plentiful and look great. Large space with lots of seating. Its not a cosy little place. But it maintains a nice cafe style environment. Probably always a table avaliabe. They could seat large groups if needed. Service has always been friendly and prompt. Lots of very close, easy parking options. The cafe opens out to a very nice and relaxed square.

Was there at 9.00am for coffee, not busy at all service slow.tables looked like they all need a good clean.

I was very disappointed today when my husband and I arrived at this cafe at 3.20pm. The cafe was open and several customers were sitting at tables eating and drinking. The doors were open and things looked like business as usual.
However, as we walked across to the counter looking up at the items advertised for sale, a rude woman shouted " we are closed".
I wont be returning to this cafe again even though we have enjoyed eating there in the past and at later times than 3.20pm. There was no signage indicating cafe was closed.

Lovely cafe, great coffee, delicious food and a wonderful team. The cheesey chicken pie was to die for and the scones even more so!
I’ll definitely be back!

I had a cottage pie which was more potato than the less tasty dry mince. There was no flavor at all that I could find. Very expensive & the lovely lady behind the counter was dirty & untidy. Very nice service though. I will not be returning to this Cafe.

Used to be a great place to go, but now extremely subpar, bad customer service, attitude was shocking and rubbery eggs Benny. This is the last time for me and the family.

Stopped here as we were travelling through. Friendly and polite staff. Tables were clean. Service was excellent. I appreciated the honesty of one of the staff members who told me that she would make my coffee again as she had spilt it. That's why I give this cafe a 5 star rating as that was an example of outstanding customer service. Will definitely return when next in Waikanae.

Ordered 2 hot drinks & an iced drink. Waiting a while, then they bring the 2 hot drinks. Sat there waiting and waiting for the iced drink, nothing. Go to the lady behind the counter "excuse me, is there an order for an iced mocha coming? I've been waiting a while. I ordered it with the cappuccino and mocha. " She looks back at the receipts and shows me no iced mocha was on it. So they don't listen when you order. Go to order it AGAIN and there is a huge line waiting. They didn't even offer to express my order after they messed up or anything. First and last time at that cafe.

Really appreciated they were just about to close but allowed myself and my daughter to come in and have a late lunch! Coffee was absolutely perfect and the cheese rolls my daughter absolutely loved, really loved the staffs kindness and will definitely be returning in future!

Consistently good food. Great selection of cabinet food and a good cafe menu. Friendly service with a smile. A spacious cafe.

Good service, like cafe layout and selection. In terms of breakfast - Pot of tea you only get one cup out of (and wasn't very hot)! Toast with no butter, why no mushrooms? Standard breakfast

Would like to have the basics in customer service applied as in meals are to be hot, not burnt, and fresh.

Over priced food for burnt food.

Staff could see that we were unhappy with food but refused to approach us.

Social distancing was non-existance even though signs were posted.

Third time vistied within 3 months and the experience has not changed.

If to rate the experience out of 10 lucky to be 4.
