Yummy wine, Delicious lamb, perfect size meals plus lovely table service. Not too busy and bustling. Would recommend

Lovely simple brunch menu, had the eggs Benedict and it was delicious. Very generous breakfast portion and some very cute decor, great vibes all round.

Delicious! So we ended up here because the place we'd intended to go was fully booked, but I'm so glad they were because otherwise we would have missed out on the amazing food at Olive. I had beef shin. Soooo tender and succulent. Deep fried custard for dessert is something I'd never tried before but what a treat it was! Absolutely delicious. The service was amazing, plenty of staff who were all friendly and attentive.

A decade of occasional custom of Olive has not taught me my lesson. The dinner menu is finely conceived and executed (if on the dainty side) and the terrace is the best in Wellington. But to brunch or dine at Olive is to play a waiting game. We were a couple of drop-ins on an unhectic Saturday evening, seated promptly by a sweet young man. But he couldn't compensate for the long wait for the first course and had to manipulate the situation to get the second from the kitchen before we nodded off at the table. Our pleasure in the food was sharply diminished by the delays and we went to pay and depart as soon as the plates had been cleared, only to be caught behind another couple at the counter. A half-dozen chronic conditions tell me I can't stand for long; as the woman at the till took the Wellington politesse of pottering small talk to time-bending extremes with the couple before us, I cast about for a place to sit it out. At length the couple shuffled off and I had the honour of paying Olive a hefty price for the evening (the place is not cheap). The cashier oozed disapproval and got quite sharp when I couldn't give a satisfactory description of where we had sat (at the end of one of the refectory tables on the terrace). Inwardly squirming through this test, the toughest I've taken since bursary maths in the mid-80s, I remembered tenderly the pleasure of paying wait staff at the table in every other country in which I've dined; only in New Zealand must we queue at a counter to pay, at all but the finest establishments. Olive takes the self-pleased Wellington stereotype up a notch or 3; they thoroughly admire themselves and expect the customer to rise to the occasion. Expect to draw on reserves of energy and patience to do so.

Worked there a while ago. The owner is rude, and treat his staff pretty bad. Moreover, he fired people in the middle of their shift without a valid reason.

Every time, I eat at Olive, I'm amazed how it can have this posh, yet casual atmosphere.
Food is faultless, delicious and beautifully presented. There's always something for vegans on the menu, which we appreciate.
Staff are lovely and helpful.
The leafy courtyard is a real treat.
Visit Olive, you won't be disappointed.

Olive is a favourite place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Wonderful imaginative food that changes regularly, superb customer service and excellent coffee. Vintage building adds a lovely ambience.

Horrible fishy over priced thin $45 dollar steak (marketed as anchovy sauce but wayyyyyy overpowered the beef). Risotto was alright. Most of the staff were pleasant. Wouldn't go again for the price.

The most wonderful Italian restaurant. A fabulous meal, Devine food and professional but friendly service. The menu was really exciting and the food was simply out of this world. My new favourite

Lovely setting, good staff and even better food! The only downside is the noise when this place is busy. I would recommend Olive to my friends and family.

Beautiful hidden spot in Cuba street. The indoor garden is really relaxing and a nice spot to go even on your own. The coffee is delicious and the food is nice and served fast. They have different type of milk and gf options. The staff is also super friendly and helpful.

In the middle of wet windy and cold Wellington we found Olive. Small menu compared to some but the food was fabulous. Crumbed tuna fishcake croquettes and salad disappeared before i could ask how it tasted. The pappadelle offering was equally delicious. A glass of Spanish red came with one meal. Apparently delicious. Great service.

What a great feed. Good selection of food across entrees, mains & desserts. We both had entrees. Partner asked for an entree size meal (from mains menu) Request was accommodated no worries. Side of greens were great addition. Good value for money on food & wine. Wellington I Site (information centre) provided a good selection of Eateries near accommodation. This one’s a beauty.

A delightful first visit. The food was interesting, tasty and well-presented. And the service was good too. We had a late-ish dinner here.

Pretty good food and coffee. The outdoor garden seating is the best spot, and not many other cafes have this lovely feature.well worth a visit. Good if you are df, gf as they offer options for this.

This restaurant is ridiculous. They charge 2 dollars for one piece of gluten free bread but this information is not added to the menu. It's a rip-off and illegal.

For $25, the Olive big breakfast was ungenerous to say the least. Two beautiful poached eggs with well-executed Hollandaise and properly crispy streaky bacon were excellent, as was the home-made hash brown but one small mushroom, one half a tomato indifferent sausage and only one small slice of toasted ciabata let the meal down as did the weak English breakfast tea.

The service was quick and friendly.
