Thai Tara Restaurant reviews
70Customer service is good. The waiter took the time to explain the menu and options. Ingredients were fresh, food tastes good and arrived quickly. Prices around 20+ for a meal.
Never been into this place but have ordered a lot from this place on Uber eats, I have never been disappointed with them, they have a great selection of vegetarian food which is great, they make a great green curry.
Chose this restaurant because of the BYO option. Only beer and wine is permitted if going with BYO and it's one bottle/person (not sure how beer works). Food came out fairly fast although there was a mix up with one of the dishes but it was corrected and it was fine that we had to wait as it just gave my cousins and I more time to catch up. Good location and the wait staff were nice albeit a bit frazzled (it was a Sat night and a lot of groups were dining in). Ordered the prawn fried rice, money bags, chicken satay skewers, #35 (chicken), #38 (chicken) and #49 (whole fish). My faves were the skewers and the fried rice.
Great Thai food. Totally authentic too. Try the larb, fantastic, and a good drinks list. Crispy pork snack and money bags are also recommended.
Standard Thai flavour. But the rice for fried rice is half cooked, not very pleasant to eat
Really enjoyed the food here, so much so we went back on our last night in Wellington, great service and the food was excellent both times we visited
The food was fabulous, and the service was great. Seemed to be a little short on staff but that did did not affect anything. Will definitely return
If you want a great Thai food then come here!
The best Somtum platter, highly recommend
Gai Tod fried chicken had rubbery skin (not crispy) and tiny wings/drums with very little meat.
Pad Kee Mao fried noodles had almost no bamboo shoots. Couldn't even tell there was basil in it. Tiny portion. Crispy pork was anything but. Gelatinous and stuck to your teeth in a very unappetizing way.
Would not recommend. I've had Thai from fish n' chip joints that was better than this.
We returned to Yor Yak for another evening as the food was so good last night. We were made to feel very welcome and the vegetarian food was fabulous. This restaurant deserves to be full every night and is well worth finding. Many thanks.
Aroy mak mak. This is one of the best Thai cuisine in Wellington. Service is the best. Food is so delicious.
Absolutely delicious Thai food! Lovely and friendly staff will help to decide which you should order. Honestly you won’t regret any food. Just careful “Thai spicy” I recommend Mango sticky rice for dessert!
Wonderful food and a good taste of Phuket and Bangkok! Really nice environment and good service!
Wow, the best Thai food I have had since being in Thailand! Service was excellent. This is now my favourite Thai restaurant in Wellington. I highly recommend. They will cater to however you like your dish prepared, authentic Thai or European classic.
Came here with my team for company party, Outstanding service and food was super delicious. Love the vibe of restaurant! We really have a great time here with affordable price Highly Recommended for place to dinner in Wellington:)
Had to try this place out after they charged ownership from ThaiTara to YorYak. Have to admit my expectations weren’t high but now that I’ve tried their food I have to say it exceeded what I expected. Went with my friend, we ordered Thai fish cake, Thai style fried chicken (marinated in fish sauce I believe so), steamed prawn wonton, fillet fish pla yum tah krai and beef massamun curry. The fish cakes were amazing different from usual Thai place that serves small skinny ones. The fried chicken was also good the taste wasn’t overwhelming and it was fried with just the right way. The prawns wontons were good I love their little touch on it and added a bit of mala making it seem like a Thai fusion which was amazing, though I believe the prawns were slightly over-cooked it was slightly hard. Now the beef massamun curry I have to give it to them it was the best I’ve had among Thai place in Wellington. It wasn’t bland it wasn’t watery it was just right it does get a bit salty after you eat it for a while but that’s normal. I personally cannot stand onions especially red onions I despite them. But despite it having red onions in it, it did not overpowering the dish at all. It was all perfectly balanced. I highly recommend this place and all of their food! I will be back, thank you for your service Yor Yak.
:)
Found this lovely restaurant in Wellington. They have amazing food and of outstanding quality. I can't wait to go back on my next visit.
Was in Wellington a few days and had to visit this place twice - the fish dishes are incredible, honestly among the best I've ever eaten. Outstanding food, cozy atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended!
Excellent food and afordable prices! I had a Thai stir fry crispy pork medium spicy. The sauce was balanced, the vegetables still fresh and the crispy pork had just the right crackling texture. Everyone at the table was very happy with what they had. The portions were big and most came either with rice or with roti. The stuff was efficient and the owner was friendly.
We will definitely go there again!
Bonus: open on Sunday and Monday!
I ordered crispy pork stirfry and duck curry for takeaway and a drink. Pork stirfry came without any pork. Duck curry is too salty. Drink missing. Very disappointed!
