Thai Tara Restaurant reviews
70 Our most favourite Thai restaurant in Wellington!
Great food with reasonable price and excellent service.
We’ll definitely go back again soon!
Highly recommended. Really friendly and attentive staff. Awesome food. I had the choo chee salmon and the flavour was great. A little bit overcooked but still tasty all the same, and they were really open to feedback. I'll be back to try it again for sure.
Thanks very much, and see you next time!
Super easy to deal with and a great feed, thanks for being so accomodating with our booking from afar.
Cute little restaurant with great service and the food was amazing. Perfect for a pre-show dinner as the food came out really quickly. Will definitely be back.
We stumbled upon this little gem on a very busy wellington evening and we are glad we did! The food was lovely my partner had the sizzling beef the meat was tender veges fresh and the dish was delicious. I had Tom yum fried rice which lived up to it's name "yum". Lovely friendly new owners. We hope you do well with your restaurant.
My food was delivered an hour late after everyone else at my table had finished
I was told 2-3 more minutes and I wasn't served for at least another 20 minutes after that. Servers seemed more entertained than apologetic
Really interesting place. It is in the process of change at the moment regarding their menu (s), so it's an interesting time to visit. Some of their food is traditional, some modified, some new and more changes planned in the future (so the owner told us) It really wasn't what I expected. I ordered a traditional dish and it was OK, and so did my wife, and hers was really nice, but, we were given a free dish and it was amazing! I would not have ordered this dish normally but so glad we got to try it (curried crab). It was a modified version and it was really clever, and delicious.
Service was prompt despite it being completely full so they did an amazing job at keeping everyone happy.
We're definitely planning to go there again to try some more of their more unique dishes, I think I'll let them order for me next time!
They also do takeaways and have a limited list of wines and the usual other alcoholic beverages but also they have at least 2 types of original Thai beers.
Price was very reasonable too.
Ordered large Tom Yam, not worth the money I paid for it, disappointed customer with taste and value for money
To be honest the food was great but the portion sizes were just tiny. Paid $40 and got two curries, that were mainly sauce and one portion of rice, when we were supposed to get one portion with each curry
Absolutely gorgeous food, friendly and efficient staff. We were here for Valentine's Day, and they had a great set menu, and even live music. 10/10
Great Thai restaurant. Has a new menu with many AUTHENTIC THAI dishes. Was very busy on a Friday night. Allows BYO too!
Got the basil tofu curry, had about 3 tablespoons of sauce and 4 pieces of tofu for $17. Either there was a mistake with the order or their serving size for that particular dish is tiny. Tasted good though. My partners meal was a good size.
Excellent authentic food and some really interesting options you don't see in other Thai restaurants.
Beautiful Thai cuisine, presented nicely on the plate. The restaurant is perfectly situated and is a perfect place for a nice dinner with family and friends. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. I really recommend this place. Cheers
Thai tara has below average thai food, would even say it is one of the worse thai I have eaten. The spring rolls were thin and small (5x) and had little substance but cost around $7 if I am not wrong - really expensive! I also ordered pad kee mao for takeaway and it was only when I got home that I realised it did not have bamboo shoots or thai basil (as stated in menu). Tasted just like stir fried rice noodles with soy sauce and frozen veggies.
Another great meal at Thai Tara. Crispy Pork as starter and Choo Chee Salmon with Coconut Rice this time, very good.
Will be back!

Soooooooo GOOOOD! Just ordered takeaway online, got a free appetizer. And honestly the best thai we've had in Wellington. And Auckland.and Whangarei. 100% beat them all
Great food and great service. The Mrs had the duck noodle soup and loved it. I had the red curry and it was o for orsum
Great food and quality. We ordered beef red curry and duck noodle soup. We were very happy with what we got. It was a good serving.
The crispy pork was very crispy but the vegetables were bland and the curry had a strange tast. Good for the price but not authentic.
