Waimea Restaurant reviews
63Our meals were average in taste and lacked those interesting flavours. Meal size was a little on the small side and the prices were a little too expensive. The service was reasonable but our waiter was a hard to understand and forgot the drinks.
A nice place to have a great meal. Food was delicious with large portions. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definately come again.
Overpriced especially for takeaway (never paid $28.50 for chicken fried rice before) and couldn't believe I was charged $11.50 for a roti which included an extra $5.00 for a small peanut satay sauce to go with my already overpriced roti - which would normally cost me $5.50 elsewhere and includes the sauce! First time trying Tuk Tuk (due to convenience of location on the night) and ordered over the phone which was my first mistake as they were busy, and so did not know what to expect but will not be back at those prices will stick to my yummy local in Raumati.
We ordered a bottle of French champagne that came out warm. When asked for a wine bucket, they said they were unsure if they had them. My partner asked for his meal to be hot, was hardly medium or mild.
Went on a Sunday night, nice relaxed atmosphere (but could use a change of music, the lift music piano ain't great!). Great friendly service, we were last to leave but weren't rushed at all. Food was good, nice flavour and decent size meals. Will definitely return.
Fantastic Thai food at a reasonable price, good to finally have a decent restaurant in this location. Friendly staff and amazing views over the ocean on a good day.
Tuk Tuk is a no fuss simple Thai restaurant. All four of us enjoyed our food and the servings were generous. Some staff need a little more training but that's quite normal these days and they were all very friendly and obliging.
A friend brought me here for lunch and it is my first time, this won't be my last! I did ask what would be closer to beef laska soup! The gentleman gave me really good ideas, then i saw the curries thought that might be close to it. Then a lovely lady came over and gave me her suggestions and i ended up with 'Beef curry w Roti & jasmine rice OMG one of the best curries i have had in a long long time! You guys are amazing, friendly, knowledgeable (thats a given), i had to say thank you to the chefs before i left. I will be back! Thank you for a great experience truly!
+ it sucks i forgot to take a pic of the food, atmosphere took a pic from the window though!
Thank you love ya bye!
Start of service bit slow, but was ok, the food was absolutely beautiful plenty of it, highly recommend this restaurant
Love eating here. On the beachfront at Waikanae. The outdoor eating areas are a super alternative to indoors when you are in beach gear!
They were short-staffed on the day we were there so service was very slow. However, the food was superb and definitely worth the wait!
I’m really not one to give bad reviews, but this was hands down the worst restaurant experience I’ve had. After being sat at a table we had to get our own menus, we then waited 1 hour 45 mins for our food so that by the time it came out it was getting cold and dark. As you can imagine when the food did come we were starving only to find out they’d gotten our spice levels mixed up so instead of mine being mild it was so spicy I couldn’t eat it. When i told them about this and said I didn’t feel comfortable paying for something I couldn’t eat they agreed to take it off the bill but offered no apology and seemed angry with us. I don’t know if they’ve just opened or short on staff but it was a real shame as we can’t afford to eat out often and still ended up paying $70 without me even eating anything
Having worked and lived in Thailand, we wanted authentic Thai food and we weren't let down
Excellent takeaway food. Vegan options for most of the mains - I had a delicious tofu red curry with rice.
Very quick service. I had the pork padt king (ginger stir fry) and it was delicious, with very fresh vegetables. My sister had the chicken pad Thai.
This was an excellent meal. The service was fantastic, especially given the current shortages. The servers were attentive, well presented and friendly. We went as a large family group and the meals were delicious. The prawn spring rolls are so yummy as were the curry puffs and chicken kebabs. We had a selection of meals and every one was delicious. Would recommend. This restaurant was a Mexican one 2 years ago but as a Thai one it is fantastic.
On a great night it's amazing to just sit Upstairs with a drink and some food and wach the sunset really nice food and staff are always so friendly
Waiting for some time to check out TukTuk after hearing great reports, was not disappointed. A Tuesday night and it was half full, staff very friendly and fast service. The meal was wonderful, the duck and chicken were flouvoursome and the vege very fresh and crisp. Looking forward to going back soon.
Tuk Tuk Waimea Restaurant number 1 Waimea road Waikanae Beach. Has some of the best Thai food on offer. The location and setting is just perfect, with stunning views out across to Kapiti island. We were warmly welcomed by the host and hostess plus our waitress Caitlyn was just so sweet she made our evening along with the great food. Ten stars Neil & Linn from Havelock North.
Excellent! Great staff, food and atmosphere and the changes made since it was waimea have been worth it - we will be back!
