Beachfront Hotel Hokitika reviews
65Disappointed as we booked room with a view and were put in a tiny room down an alleyway not connected to hotel. We couldn't dine in the restaurant as it was hired out so Disappointed as we were guests.
Nice clean rooms! Good sized! Staff were helpful! Nice restaurant with a great buffet breakfast!
2nd floor beachfront view king room. 2 nights, slept with the door open so we could listen to the ocean - great.
There was no cold water from the bathroom tap, we had to use the water from the shower for cold drinking water.
The room had a fan it it that would just blow the hot air about.
Next to an outside door that would slam shut everytime someone went in and out.
A pair of socks that werent ours were under the bed.
The fridge in the room was frozen over so not working too full effect
Mould on the bathroom blind and windowsill
Somewhat bland and sterile. However, the location cannot be beaten. Our room (road-facing) lacked air conditioning and was very hot.
Terrible. For the money, stay elsewhere. Uncomfortable bed. Advertised as having a kitchenette but only contained a poorly performing bar fridge.
The reception was unattended at checkout so we were unable to offer feedback.
Functional although impersonal. Typical for a hotel. Not all rooms are beach facing. No air conditioning so very warm in the summer. Free standing fans are provided but does little to keep the rooms cool.
Set right on the beach front with 180 degree views. We had a 3rd floor sea view king which was of a very high quality. Plenty of room and luscious toiletries supplied. Decent sized balcony for afternoon sun with 2 chairs and a table. Great sunset views too. Would recommend as a 1st stop if you are travelling after the Tranzalpine.
Excellent location - close to supermarket & restaurants and beach, but the room is small and bedsheet not well cleaned.
Biggest Hotel in the area. Does the job but only a few rooms look again at the breach front. Hardly surprising really. The only potential negative was that the room didn't have air con and it was hot. There was a fan though.
Small room. No security so could not open window, no screens for insects so had to close window at night and sleep with pedestal fan in hot room. Not worth the money.
Good location fitting reasonable new, already paid before arrival but still need credit card to check in than after credit card is blocked.
The bed was very firm. The location fantastic right on the beach. The person at reception very helpful and seemed very happy engaging personality. I would return.
Got the Beachfront room Spa and King size bed. The size was king but it was two single beds pushed together. Not the luxurious comfort of a king at all. Very misleading and very uncomfortable. The lump or join in the middle was well pronounced. Not worth the value of the room. Very disappointing experience. I would not stay again.
AMAZING views from our room & balcony. The room was clean & comfortable. Centrally located. The continental breakfast was nice.
Set in the town centre of the bustling hub of Hokitika, this hotel is one of, if not the best hotel in Hokitika. Only bad thing to say about the hotel is you really had to push hard to close the bathroom sliding door. It lies on Hokitika beach, with the Hokitika sign a 1 minute walk from the hotel, and the bustling shops and pubs of Hokitika town centre at your doorstep. The continental breakfast was delicious, and so was the full English.
Room was clean and well presented. Disappointed that the restaurant was not open for the duration of our stay (Sun - Tuesday), probably would have looked at other accommodation options if had been aware of this. The only other gripe was that the ventilation in bathroom was noisy and took an eternity to switch itself off.
It's a good location in town. The hotel right on the beach to watch the sunset or walk around in town. Great! Nearby is New world Supermarket.
Stayed here on the weekend. It was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed. You could easily see some things in the room were never wiped down or dusted. The inside of the windows was filthy. The bathroom was pretty bad. The staff were friendly and the location was nice but for the amount we paid for a room I would expect a certain level of cleanliness. Nice place let down by there cleaners. The King bed was two singles pushed together. They wash your dirty dishes in the bathroom sink. (which I mentioned earlier was filthy)
Where do I start, Make sure you don't stay in the driftwood part of the hotel.
The room was tiny with no view, no ventilation and was stifling hot with no air conditioning I went back to front desk and asked for another room which I believe we booked which was one with a beach view, but I booked by telephone and had no written evidence that this was the case. The king bed consisted of pushing 2 rock hard single beds together, no sky TV for the high price of the room, fridge did work but door did not shut properly was buckled. Four nights in this place has made me exhausted due to lack of sleep due to road noise and people standing outside the room on the street talking absolutely shocking. Room servicing was not great and after returning from being out doing tourist stuff we always had to return to the main desk to get the door key activated. Meals in restaurant were okay but expensive for what they were and sitting beside an open door to the deck so staff could go in and out I found to be unacceptable as it was cold, three meals in restaurant we decided to eat elsewhere for the rest of the time in Hokitika which was way better.
Would I stay there again on my next visit to Hokitika NO
