Hokitika Holiday Park reviews
64 The place had everything you could wish for: large pitches, very clean and lots of showers and toilets, peace and quiet, very friendly service at reception and great infrastructure (kitchen, barbecue, lounge, games room with table tennis and table football, washing machines and dryers, large playground). The town center and beach of Hokitika are within easy 20 minutes
Reachable on foot. Definitely one of the most beautiful campsites on our trip to the South Island.
We stayed for two nights on a powered site with a motorhome. Laundry facilities were fine, however toilets and showers in the same room, what I personally dislike. The playground and bbq area would need some love. Rusty, missing planks and visible nails. Its located between some industrial sites, so from my perspective not the best place for a holiday park.
Who and what are the neighbors?
Noisey and load music! Park is great shame about the next door idiots. Unsure what is all about but sounds like a dirt race track for idiots in cars and bikes to create dust storms and piss everyone off-guess it’s a Friday night for coasters to let off steam by stupidity. Campsite is just a dust storm…. Shame as ammenities are great
As a newer holiday park, it does not have major maintenance issues found in smaller, older, independent holiday parks. One very interesting feature was the toilets were all unisex with about half including a shower area. Water pressure was high as cautioned in shower postings.
Great place to stay! They were very accepting of our dog and the kids played for hours on the playground. The facilities were clean and also very accommodating. Highly recommend
Fantastic, dog friendly clean and loverly custormer service. Loved hearing the tui and bell birds in the morning. Best place in hokitika.
Nice camp ground. Family cabin was good for a stop over, altho noisy campers/residents in cabin next door. Manager was great tho and sorted it out fast.really appreciated it especially with children trying to sleep.
Great that it is dog friendly too.
We camped here in our caravan for a couple of nights. Very affordable. Would stay again. Very wet during our stay so lots of surface flooding around. Recommend owners start to charge for shower use and put on a timer. Twice we waited for over 30 minutes for shower to become free with both showers occupied by one person each for that time. We do recommend this camp tho.
Actually an amazing camp ground, we just needed a place to stay and didn’t really look into it much, but we loved this place. Had a great time
Very quiet park fantastic that they organized a sober driver to go into town for festival at a real cheap price, thinking outside the box well done, will be back
I recommend this campsite. Everything was very good, quite spacious camping with good facilities. The only bad thing was that the day was rainy and we only had one night, we couldn't enjoy much, but things that cannot be predicted.:)
Excellent amenities and playground! You can see it is very well-kept. The only disadvantage is the hard-rock solid ground that we find it difficult in pinning the pegs down. In result, our pegs are bent. But over-all, still a good campsite for family.
Great place to stay, the host had great recommendations- if not for her we would've missed the stunning Hokitika gorge!
Boring place to camp, ground was so rocky that it bends all of my pegs for the tent. Best for its amenites like shared toilet and shower, shared kitchen.
A flying fox, a massive climbing tower, two kitchens/lounges and amazing showers. Rooms were also clean and modern. A great place to rest up after a full on day of exploring the area.
The washing facilities could be expanded, but they have a separate drying room which is definitely gold standard for travellers.
Very basic holiday ark. However ckean well maintained and friendly staff. Great discounts available on activities in the area as well.
The service was outstanding. We had an issue on our end for booking and the staff were extremely helpful in sorting us out. The rooms were clean, spacious and accompanied by an amazing flying fox. Will be returning next time I'm in Hokitika
Central play area was fantastic for the kids. Cabins were comfortable. Keep an eye out for the turnoff. It is hard to see and we missed it multiple times
When I checked in I asked to have a power site which I chose on the campsite map, however got to the site & a caravan was parked up looked like it had been there a while. I drove rund until I found an empty powered site.
Comfy beds and plenty of parking.
New facilities and kitchenette in our cabins were better than expected.
Great playground.
However.
Cabins were dirty with leftover food under one table, spill marks on bench and down fridge, dirty windows.
Towel package wasn't provided in either of our two queen cabins as advertised so on day 2 of our stay we had to ask for some.
Dirty muddy bathroom facilities on arrival which were poorly stocked with paper towels. Facilities were cleaned the next day but not fully restocked. Lights not working and some door locks not working. Due to the muddy grounds outside, toilets and showers got dirty again very quickly.
Muddy, pot holed (uneven which caused me to stumble and fall in the mud during the night trip to toilet) areas that were not ideal to be walking in back and forward to amenities.
We booked a large family group and our cabins were all spread out in the camp which wasn't ideal and strange since I had made the group booking online and then rang to confirm what we were after.
Our cabin had an awful odour, strong food smell or perhaps cigarette smoke? Regardless it was awful. We had to spray the cabin with spray several times during our stay.
Noisy cabins, thin walls, can hearing voices and snoring through the walls.
Overall, dissapointing sums up our stay.
