Orange Sheep Campervan Park

We loved this campsite, warm welcome, very clean and easy. Plenty of services and it felt loved. The owner was very helpful and keen to ensure you had a good stay.

Great camp! What else to say?
As a backpacker this how the place should look like. Nice parking spot, hot water, drinkable water and clean bathrooms.
In case you wonder, in such a place (middle of nowhere) the WiFi worked pretty good.
I stayed 2 nights, non-powered for $30. Thats great for such a pricey place as is remote Franz Josef.

No idea why people give low rating, this is a camp, not a motel or hotel. If you need rubbish bins or big kitchen and dining area, go somewhere else and pay for it.specially I love what there is written, when you arrive “you are welcome to walk around and look at the sites before you pay”
Meaning for slower thinkers: if you don’t like it, you can “save” money here and go somewhere else.:)

Are you looking for identical parking spots on a perfect lawn? Surrounded by jucy vans? Looks like a top 10? Well you’ve come to the wrong place. Orange sheep is way better.

On a bicycle tour of the South Island, we started seeing orange sheep stickers on campervans in the catlins…thought they were well done. So when we got to Franz we had to stop and see the real thing. Cheeky stickers in the bathrooms. Privacy hedges for every spot. Easy kitchen facilities. It’s not fancy, but it’s not boring. Perfect for us! If you’re a bike tourer, ask for the secret tent spot.

Friendly accomodating owner, straight in the middle of town so easy access to tours and hikes.wifi and clean facilities. Recommend callery gorge and roberts point track

So happy to find this place. We’ve been camping at DOC campgrounds but needed a hot shower. They have hot showers, a kitchen, power, fresh water, friendly staff and a laundromat next door. Thanks orange sheep!

Free wifi but it hardly works. Showers are a mess, water doesn't drain away, so no dry area, kitchen is not clean by my standards, BBQ is a little electric hot plate that has seen better days. The positive points are that the sites have a little privacy and the stones on the driveways and sites are a good idea, water drains easily. This also comes at a good price, so if you're watching your budget it should be ok.

They provide so many more facilities than the DOC campsites at the same cost. I cannot see why anyone wouldn't want to stay here when in the west coast:)

Really nice campsite.
The owner is really friendly! The parking spots are big and privat.
Bathrooms are clean and they provide a hairdryer and hair straightener which is great.
You have wifi everywhere which is sometimes working really good and sometimes not but that’s ok.

We had 2 lovely days here! Campsite is very natural and pretty. The Boss (I guess) was really friendly and always asked everybody if everything is fine.

Ps: bring money (u can’t pay by card, but ATM is only 5 mins away).

Guter Campingplatz für wenig Geld. Heiße Duschen, Toiletten, Wasser inklusive. Wir hatten eine Powered Site und konnten uns gegen 15: 30 noch den Platz aussuchen den wir wollten.
Die Nacht war ruhig.
Generell eine guter Aufenthalt für einen echt guten Preis an einem solchen Touristen Hotspot.

We think it is really nice that the owners of this place offer an affordable option in this expensive area.
Nice showers and good kitchen. We had a lovely quiet night.

Lovely area. Someone was there when we checked in so no issues. It does say on website to bring cash so make sure you do. Site is very large so find yourself a nice private spot like we did. Thank you.

Me and my partner checked into orange sheep. And highly recommend is very affordable, private places to park and spend the night. Good showers bathrooms are very clean. Will definitely be back.

Great camping spot. Really good value for money. Just under the price of DOC spots and has clean showers, toilets and cooking facilities. We stayed an extra night because we liked it so much. Powered and non-powered sites available.

Awesome place, very practical, and couldn't find anywhere with such a good quality/price ratio. The non-powered sites are really nice and really private, different in sizes, usually with a private table. The wifi is also really good which is nice

Decent little holiday park. Good facilities, although could have done with more rubbish/trash bins. All the Park ups felt really private, even though it was quite busy.

Great camping spot with immaculate facilities.
We were only originally staying for 2 nights but have ended up staying for 4 the location is perfect & idyllic.
Each site is so private and well maintained, great little kitchen with washing up and cooking facilities.
Hot clean showers with immaculate toilets.
$29 per night for a powered site great location for seeing the beautiful Franz Josef & with added bonus of the fabulous Waiho hot pools are located just next door win win.
