Paroa Hotel reviews
59Perfect place to stay on our journey up the coast. Rooms were perfect and close to a great beach. The family owned hospitality was a treat!
Stunning location, well appointed facilities, delicious food but it's the owners and their customer service that makes the place. Quintessentially kiwi hospitality at its finest. If you get the chance stay here!
At very short notice was able to accomdate me. Im over here for work and my original accomadtion wasnt the greatest, came in for some food which was incredible and was able to get a room. They went above and beyond. Rooms are incredible and warm. The beach is a stones throw away. All staff are so friendly and the chefs know how to cook. I didnt look else where when you have everything you need at the paroa hotel. Thank you again when i come over with the family i know where im staying
The best restaurant and hotel on west coast!
Family owned. Super king size bed, heater in the room and very clean bathroom! Hotel is 2 minutes far away from beautiful beach. Restaurant offers all meals what you would like, I had the best stuffed mushrooms with basil cream cheese, you can choose between veges or salad and chips - and choose the salad from salad bar! Best experience. Will come back!
Thank you Alan (owner)
This little gem family owned business far exceeded our expectations. Alan escorted us to our room and gave us some awesome tips of things to do in the area. The room was spacious, a nice appreciated change as we could open our suitcases and spread out a little. There was a cooktop and toaster in the room. We chose to have dinner in the restaurant which was only a few steps away and was great.
We had a wonderful experience here, such amazing hospitality and spectacular food. With beautiful West Coast beach only 200m behind. Only stayed one night but rooms were so comfy & wish we'd planned to stay longer
Omg Mizzy is your best kept secret her service is awesome loved it and the food is awesome
Great host, modern rooms with great on-site facility bar and restaurant. Great crentral location if you are wanting to discover the westcoast of the South Island.
Friendly staff late at night Was a relief, excellent room's, Great meal's cold beer
Beautiful place to stay the rooms were lovely, food tasty and the service spot on.
Nice that it's been in the family for years.

Just called in for a beer after riding the trail. Asked for a jug of beer and was told dont do jugs. Paid for very overpriced beer and barman took a jug of beer over to his mates! Not a very friendly barman who was more interested in talking to his mates and seeing how his horses were running. Wont go back
Excellent! After a week these were the best digs we have stayed in. Worth upgrading to deluxe room facing the garden. Definitely recommend!
Very good accommodations, good value, very clean and modern. Great service and enjoyed our meals very much. Really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely visit again when we visit the West Coast.
Quiet location, close to the beach. Newly built, top notch facilities - nice toilets, clean kitchen, cosy beds. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Will be my go to in this part of the country.
Really enjoyed staying here the rooms are comfortable and roomy.
The staff are friendly, there is a restaurant with a good menu.
Would stay here again
Fab spot, fab accomodations, fab food and drink and above all probably the most welcoming long term family owners I have ever met. Highly recommended.
We are traveling the South Island with our small baby. The Paroa Hotel is by far the best hotel we have stayed at! It does the most important things well.
It has;
- clean
- cozy
- warm
And large rooms!
Breakfast and coffees are delicious. Staff are incredibly accommodating. They will go above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful stay.
What is even more special is that this place is family run since 1954. You don’t often see a family run such an efficient and incredible business.
The bed was probably the comfiest I have slept in on the South Island. Please make sure you check this place out if you are stopping for a few days in Greymouth.
Incredible hospitality from check in to check out. Our room was impeccably set out & furnished with lots of beautiful touches. A literal stones throw from the beach with some of the best sunsets, makes this a perfect spot for a couples getaway.
We ate dinner here on a very busy night, they had an event on. We got told the food would be quite a wait, and it really wasn't. It came out in reasonable time and the waitress was clearly under the pump but still managed to be super friendly and smiley - amazing customer service. I wish we were local because the food was to die for. Loved the vibe of the place.
We went for a meal there after riding part if the Wilderness Trail. After talking to the Owner, we were able to park our Motorhome there, both whilst out in the trail, and for the night - very much appreciated. The meal we had was great, hubby having the roast of the day and the vegetarian option for me. Couldn't fault it. Will go back for sure
