The Cray Pot reviews
58Can’t be missed, this is the end of the road, and it is a beautiful place. The food is great and so is the service. You are looking at the ocean and the closest place is 2000 km away!
Late lunch. Had already sold out of crayfish, with just fish & chips & whitebait fritters left on menu. Nice fish& chips, but food was Overpriced & a captive market. Beautiful location, though we had to eat indoors as outside had lots of waiting seagulls, sandflies & angry bees.
I cannot recommend the Craypot highly enough, what an absolute gem of a place! We were recommended to come here by a friend, and it did not disappoint.
Lovely location, a little scenic drive to get there from Haast, and relaxed atmosphere. Being veggie, and travelling around the New Zealand countryside for the past 3 weeks I had struggled to find suitable food with much variety - but the Halloumi salad I had here was *chefs kiss*
We are local to Haast and it is always an absolute pleasure to have a meal here- a very unique spot to enjoy a meal and drink and somewhere I recommend to all my friends and family!
Stunning scenery, scrumptious food and always warm, fun and friendly atmosphere!
What a little gem! Tucked away in a remote corner of Westland is an old piecart that has become a bit of an institution and believe me, it's worth the drive and the sandflies.
Sadly, out of crayfish on the day we were here but absolutely awesome fish and chips and seafood chowder.
Doughnuts are pretty decadent as well!
Fish and chips is decent. Crayfish salad portion is small but fresh. May not worth the effort to travel all the way in for the food.
An experience not to be missed, yummy fish and chips.friendly service and plenty of sandflies
Inspiring drive through incredible scenery to be met by a stunning little restaurant, dine in or al fresco, where you would normally never expect to see one.
My husband had the seafood chowder and was swooning with every mouthful. Allergic to shell fish I had the fresh fish of the day, no blue cod so had the orange roughy……wow, talk about fresh. Washed down with a wee Marlborough savvy and bingo, perfect afternoon. Well worth the trip down, on the bucket list to do again.
A very special location at Jackson Bay. My husband and I enjoyed a delicious meal whilst looking out over the Bay.
Well worth the drive out to Jackson bay. Had lovely whitebait fritters. Service was awesome the 3 ladies there were very friendly.
A bit out of the way, but the drive is gorgeous and the food is delicious! Be sure to bring some sand fly repellent. Nevertheless, 10/10 will be back.
We had a really nice crayfish salad, spayed ourselves with deet, but the sandflies also had a feast.
Amazing place. Best blue cod ever. Update, the Craypot is under new ownership since posting this review, Your experience may be different from mine in circa 2018
Der Waggon ist ganz nett, wenn man von den Sandflies absieht. Wir hatten Fish and chips und die waren ihren Preis nicht wert.
Lovely place. I had a delicious crayfish salad and the day was stunning. The bay was a beauty and so did the road to get there. Definitely worth a visit.
An interesting place to eat great food from a caravan! Service was good but avoid bus arrivals. It has such a good reputation tour companies drive out of their way to come here.seafood is straight from ocean here. Unbelievable food from the end of the earth.
The girls at the Craypot dish every meal with love, they are passionate about their little Cafe in paradise.
The views, the food, the staff are amazing
Fabulous little seafood restaurant with great food and friendly staff. Right on the foreshore. Take some bug repellent with you, the sand flies are small but voracious.
This place is special. The food is amazing and fresh and the vibe is just as good. Worth the drive and I’ll definitely be back!
