Pearl Garden Restaurant reviews
69Amazing food, atmosphere and staff! 10/10 would recommend. Every dish is well made and tasted SO good! Lovely family owned business
Quite warm for a resturant, even through its summer.
Food are okay, service is fast.
November 2022: Took parents here as they never been to this restaurant before. With paper menu, pricing is much more transparent. Food was good; although a prawn dumpling kinda tasted like it had a bit of detergent in it? The food arrives quite quickly. Staff present at the time were nice. 3 stars.
January 2023: Much improved. Went here on weekend with 10 others and we paid $30each which was reasonable. I enjoyed all the dumplings, prawn on toast, sticky rice, and desserts. Everything is delicious. Just teapot needs to be filled up more often. 4 stars
Standard of food has dropped ever so slightly but overall still okay.fast tables and good service.
Had yum cha here Saturday and it’s normally great but this time is was really fantastic, the food was super yummy but the service was also next level. Love it here ️
Bring your friends and or family to this lovely place. Friendly service and not pushy at all about what I should and shouldn’t order off the menu.
I think it’s BYO. Not sure though.
Their custard buns are a strange yellow but some of the best custard buns I have had in a long time.
Order some beer. Relax. Just eat and eat
Very good yum cha. A little bit different in that you order from a menu and there's not a trolley of food going around. I like this as you can see what's on offer from the get go. Service was friendly and I'd give it 5 stars but we sat on the outside where it was incredibly hot. There's a banner blocking the air flow. Will definitely be back.
One of the best Cantonese Chinese restaurants in Auckland. Also lots of beautiful vegan/vegetarian Dim Sum. Highly recommended.
One of the best yumcha in auckland, delicious and very consistent every time I eat here.would recommend booking in advance as they are very busy during lunch time!
A fantastic gem tucked away in New Market. But don't be fooled, this is definitely one of the best Yum Char locations in Auckland! They offer your traditional dim sum options with a few extra additions. I highly recommend trying their duck dumplings!
Their few a la carte options I have tried till now have all been both novel and delicious. Their salt and pepper squid is out of this world! To top this off their service is exceptional. Despite usually being busy the staff are very good at keeping an eye on each table. The owners have run the place for a number of years and it clearly shows.
Yeah, maybe I should’ve made an appointment before hand, but the customer service is just really bad. I asked if there was any available slot she said it’s full. I want to ask if there was any available slot afterwards or at night but the lady at the counter just cut me off saying “t’s full, it’s full” and just left. That was just really rude!
July 2021: Called to book a table and the woman that answered the phone had very poor English that no table was actually booked in the end. Also, I've noticed on each visit, the owner at the counter has been overcharging us a few bucks extra. If they do this to everybody, everyday, that is a good amount of $$ they are stealing from customers. 1 star.

We came from Hong Kong and we want to say it’s so good and even better than many of the dim sum places in Hong Kong!
We traveled to NZ for vacation and saw many good reviews online for this place so we wanted to try how authentic the dim sum in Auckland can be. And it didn’t disappoint! We ordered turnip cake, siu mai, bbq pork rice roll, prawn toast, tripe. And everything tasted amazingly delicious. The ingredients were fresh and the portion was large! I had never seen a prawn toast with so much prawn paste! The price was very reasonable and we were very happy having such good quality and traditional dim sum while away from home.
Amazing food, wonderful and friendly staff, great atmosphere. Definitely will continue to come back here
We waited for 30 minutes, no one takes order. There is no eye contact with waiters as we eventually went to counter to place the order by ourselves. Then we waited for another 20 minutes for food coming. We spent 50 minutes waiting for the food, then 10 minutes eat up. Will look for another place for yum cha for sure. Won’t come back, sorry!
Waited an hour for our food. Totally forgot about us. Was for a birthday aswell. Shocking and would never come back.
It's unbelievably disgusting when the waitress put soy sauce, hoisin sauce and sesame sauce into our plain stream rice rolls without asking! It's gross eating rice rolls with all these three sauces together! Like. Which Cantonese eats plain rice rolls with sesame sauce and hoisin sauce? ! When we sat down they didn't bother asking for tea. Service is very BAD.
Terrible service, waiting at the table 15 min, no one brought a menu then menu came wait for 30 minutes, no one came to take order. Just walked straight out the door. Bad experience!
Honestly we stumbled upon this yumcha purely by chance. What a pleasant surprise it was indeed. Delighted to say the least some of the best salt n peppa squid I have ever had. Dim Sims were delicious tbh the would have got a 5 if it wasn't for my sadness over getting the basic teapot haha. Everyone else had a beautiful bamboo handled one.
We will definitely be back
Our family has been going to pearl garden for about 40 years and it has had beautiful food and great service the whole time. LEGENDS!
