Yeah it was ok, I like that it’s a bit smaller than many similar restaurants so feels a little more intimate and the decor helped created a decent vibe.

The food however, was just average. Not bad, not amazing. Some dishes came out lukewarm and didn’t have a strong flavour but I did really enjoy the shumai, that was one of the better shumai I’ve had in Auckland.

My friends and I have been semi-regular customers at Pearl Garden for a number of years. Went there on 24/07/21 and didn’t realise they now have a time limit for the table (1hr only). They didn’t tell us at the beginning until our time was up. They tried to rush us out when we clearly hadn’t finished eating, with multiple staff members looking over our shoulders. We found this very rude and let the staff and cashier know, however they couldn’t care less. The food was not as good as it used to be - the dumplings were overcooked. Our group will not be returning here ever.

Can't get their booking system sorted. Just a mass of people waiting at the top of the stairs get frustrated and leaving.

People pushing past.

Setup a proper queue and check people who have bookings.

Quality restaurant for Yum Cha in Newmarket. We come often as a team for lunch. They have a good variety on offer and the custard buns are a must if you have a sweet tooth. It's recommended to book ahead, as they always seem to be busy. Service is always excellent

Fantastic!

I have found myself another paradise!

Love love love

Of course this is definitely not like my all time love 928 Dominion Road "where has already gone"
Pearl Garden absolutely my new love in the Central auckland.

I love the way how they demonstrate the old Cantonese authenticity including the table wears.

Business is so packed! No reservations no tables.

Good dim sum and good service. But the menu is not entirely transparent about what is inside the dumplings. We ordered chives dumplings (thinking it will be pork and chives or vegetarian) scallops dumplings but it was 80% shrimp. So if you are vegetarian or can’t eat shrimp, make sure you ask what’s inside the vegetable dumplings.

Fantastic YumCha, tables have been spaced out to allow for social distancing. The food is good as alway, with new dishes added. Definitely recommend coming here!

Great food but super busy, you need to book before going so it's easy to accommodate you and your family /friends

Best yumchar restaurant in the country, literally. Food was so good, all staff were nice and friendly unlike the other yumchar places I ever went to. I’ll definitely keep coming back. Keep up the good service and food. Well done

It is my all time favorite yum cha in Auckland. Food is always delicious, so many different dumplings I can choose from. I'd be too happy to go there every day. Plus the owners and staffs are so nice

Scrumptious dim sum in generous portions and at great prices - $52 total bill for seven items to feed two hungry people. Nice traditional ambience and we were seated in the "conservatory/terrace" under bright natural light which made the experience even better. We had been so concerned about the 1-hour table return policy especially it was a Saturday booking at 13: 30, but then were told upon arrival we did not need to worry about that, and so we happily took our time enjoying the meal until 15: 00. It might seem the staff were not smiling much but they were actually all very kind. One of them told us to be careful not to burn ourselves eating the egg tarts freshly made just out of the oven. Only four stars instead of five, because, out of the 5 wanted savories 2 were unavailable; also wrap/skin of scallop dumplings was way too thick not to mention the tiny piece of scallop surrounded by big bunch of prawns could hardly be spotted, though all six other items were of high quality.

The most Authentic meal I've ever had. Great taste, highly recommended. A must go for everyone. The best meal in Auckland.

Food is nice, but I've given 3 stars because it is overpriced when compared to other Chinese restaurants which have great food and a traditional Chinese setting to enjoy it in.

The fusion of the Crispy Cha Siu Bow is worth trying, the Cheung Fun are below expectations. The service makes the Yum Cha more enjoyable to the Dim Sum.

My favourite yum cha place in Auckland! Has really good dim sum and a nice outdoor area on the balcony. Always busy!

Excellent food and service. Seemed very authentic. The two native Chinese with us thought so too. They bring little dishes around to share and you pick what you want. Could have gone on all afternoon but had to go back to work.

Very disappointing set menu, we had a number of children who didn't eat any of the food yet we were charged per head. We have come here for years but charged over 500$ for mediocre food. Rip off
